I really can’t think of a single time I brought a remaster of a game I’d played previously.

That's too bad about Braid, but for me it was just a bit more than I was willing to pay for a game this old, even with the extras and enhancements.

Agreed. I could have seen making Braid 2 with Braid Remastered as DLC or a perk for a deluxe edition. But even with a Braid 2, the end result probably would have been poor sales. Braid was from an era of Xbox 360 dominance and was a crown jewel of the console indie market. These days, it seems that indie crowd has gone to PC and embraced genres other than puzzle platforms. Maybe Switch 2 will breathe life into the indie market on consoles.

I buy remasters of games that I love, but I'm also the type of game who replays my favorite games frequently. It's unfortunate about the low sales of the Braid remaster. Considering the original game is highly regarded and considered one of the pioneers of the modern indie game scene, it's a surprise that the remaster didn't sell, especially since the game didn't just get a makeover and a tune-up but was also expanded with a considerable amount of new content. On a happier note, X-Out looks like something I'd enjoy and 90s-style shoot 'em ups are my favorite part of the genre.

Yeah, I think it's definitely too recent for a remaster of that game type. He really should have waited 10 years for the 25th anniversary. It's not like it was the immensely popular groundbreaking game, it just was at the beginning of the indie boom and had a cool time gimmick.

Remasters are pretty niche - but they usually have long legs if its a classic. He can always sell it to PS extra or Xbox at some point. Braid is guaranteed to be mentioned on sales lists for curators for years to come. But
I do play remasters and Braid is in my wishlist - but the market is also saturated. I put in about 1200 hours a year in gaming and never more than 100 hours in a game in any one year. It's impossible to keep up.
Haven't decided what to sink my teeth in this weekend. I finished Arzette, a replay of Sly 1, and Qomp 2, in the last week. I've got a lot of games on the burner that I rotate around.

Easy: Braid was released for 19.99€, currently with a discount at 14.99. At least for me, I wouldn't pay 20 euros for a game released a decade ago without noticeable changes. Didn't do with Stanley Parable, even worse with Braid 😅

The artstyle didn't need a major remaster since it was never about realism. I'd be interested to see what the original would look like running with super resolution and AA (and other fixings) compared to this remaster.

I never finished Braid originally, but I still have it on my 360 and it always seemed like a cool indie title. That being said, I recently nabbed this new version for free on Android though Netflix and that was the first time I even heard about it. It seems the best part of this version is the 15 hours of BTS footage, but no one is going to buy a game like this, for pretty much just that. Reselling a puzzle game is really a hard sell, as while playing this new version I was hard pressed to see the differences. And coming out and telling the world it sold like dogs**t I doubt is going to bring the dollars pouring in, but who knows?

Feed the Deep has some Solar Jetman vibes; Solar Jetman has more than its fair share of problems, but I do like the basic concept, so it's neat to see another game picking it up. As for the Braid story, I've actually never played the original, so if anything, I'd probably pick up the remaster, but if I have the original game, I won't buy a remaster.

If they wanna sell more copies of Braid remastered, release it physically on Nintendo Switch that will get people (like me) to double dip. I’m sure LRG or one of those companies would jump at the chance to publish Braid.

I didn't know Braid was remastered. It's one of the most memorable games for me from the Xbox 360 era. It had some of the most clever secrets of any game I can think of. As great as I think Braid was back in 2008, I just don't think this is a game I would buy again. I respect it tho

I was aware of the Braid Anny Ed. Braid is one of my favorite games ever and I am not against buying it again. But, it'll have to be on sale, since I already own the game, I don't see the point in buying it at full price again for some extras. Funny thing is, Blow hyperbolizes a lot. He said it sold like shit, sure. But there are 650 reviews on Steam, and it's estimated less than .5% of buyers actually review games on Steam. So that's an estimated 130k copies or more. Which isn't the millions or even half million he maybe hoped. But that's $2.6m before Steam fees he made off a remaster. A remaster of a short indie game.
And yes, I do buy remasters. =D

Honestly hated Braid at launch. Found it dull and boring as sadly time travel puzzles tend to be cause the solution is so obvious
Felt like a "wow look at this art" game
    BUT
Was gonna try the remaster as gaming tastes do change and games we hated 10 years ago we've started to enjoy
So we waited and waited and well no one at all covered it releasing. Sub to like 8 indie channels and didn't see a single Braid Remaster review hit our feed.
So finding out it came out like 2 months ago was a shock.
No wonder it sold like shit, our finger is on the pulse of the indie scene and we didn't even know it launched.

Not just the same game with a filter.

Jonathan Blow being mad about Braid sales and expecting more just shows how much of an out of touch narcissist he is. He didn't advertise for his game and expects to do well!?! It's a different time! There are TONS of angsty 2D puzzle platformers out there, so his game isn't really all that special any more. People who already played it probably are fine with the old version they have. People who have never played it don't really know it exists and have so many more platformers to choose from. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for someone who considers themselves some sort of auteur from 2 niche games.
