It's so sad to see what the tornado did to all those peoples' homes. I lost one in a fire, so in a way I can relate. I'm glad that most hopefully were able to save/find some items, but it is still completely devastating. The homeowner was very fortunate that he was able to work with the original framer and builder.
I had a bit of a chuckle to myself at 2:57 when you showed all of the debris in the dumpster. It made me think of my grandpa who would have been out there with his claw hammer pulling nails out of most of those 2x4s and taking what he could salvage home. He lived to be 97yo and was born in 1907 if memory serves. He collected everything.
He actually built a few museum buildings in the town where they lived and even had the original post office building, church and blacksmith's shop across the street from their home. My brothers, cousins, friends and I grew up playing in those buildings and will all of the other things he had outside. I remember my brothers pulling me on a one seat contraption that was pulled by a horse. (They were the horses, haha.) I digress... my point in all of this was him collecting the wood. Heck he would have kept the nails too if they weren't totally bent. His famous line was "a good carpenter can drive a crooked nail straight in". I remember watching him outside literally hammering nails that were bent until they were straight(er) and then put them in the tobacco cans in the garage that were screwed to the underside of wooden shelves so that he could the screw cans onto the lids and get them off his work surface.
Ah, this trip down memory lane has once again made me into a blathering fool. Thanks for sharing another video with us, Brad. Great to see you out and about. I hope you, Mary and your boys are doing well. Speaking of your boys, my most sincere Congratulations and best wishes to Nate and his wife on their recent wedding! That's lovely. Are they enjoying living in the "haunted house" on Flair's property? It has to be nice to be so close to all of you - I hope they're doing well and that you all got to have some much needed family time. Time for Nate to introduce his Mrs. to us, haha. Kidding - not everyone would want to be in the videos. I know I sure wouldn't, haha!
All the best - I better stop before I bore you (and anyone who reads this) to tears.
    Heather🇨🇦

I'd like to see more videos like this. Maybe in a future video you could compare and contrast homes that can be rebuilt and those that have to be demolished. I'd be interested in knowing how the insurance/homeowner/contractor make that determination.

Thanks Brad. Shows that hiring a builder who has been in business a long time helps. The builder who built my home was only in business a couple of years. If my home was destroyed in a tornado. I would be totally lost. I’m sure there are some families where the rebuilding process is an overwhelming experience.

Casino I worked for was building on, had a straight line wind event. Laid all the roof framing over snapping a lot of the trusses... 10 years later we were running some new wiring thru that attic space and found the shady construction company had scabbed the trusses back together with 2' pieces of 2x4!!! Native American casino so no building codes... explained the constant roof sags and leaks, the drywall falling off the ceiling and crashing thru the suspended ceiling...had a 20' x 4' piece of drywall peel off because the truss twisted, drywall injured 10 people, caused $50k in damage to the slot machines below it when half the suspended ceiling came down with it.. They finally blew the whole roof off, brand new trusses, new decking, new steel roof instead of shingles... and new construction company as they sued the old one for the shoddy work.
