Interesting video, I always enjoy your channel and like your take on this. Were you by any chance inspired by this video ruclips.net/video/_uVhkVkFfVQ/видео.html or is it a coincidence? I was watching and thinking hmmm....this is...very.....similar....heh....
Ah dude great video! I’m almost certain I watched this back when you released it and probably tucked it away in the old subconscious. Definitely didn’t mean to steal any ideas, and apologize if I did so - just a much requested topic from my subscribers. I’ll pin this to the top of the video :)
Quick question while you’re here: am I correct in my statement that only lanes 1-3 can be used for quantized pitch? Couldn’t find any way around that for melodic sequencing. Would be amazing if that were available in a fourth lane so all 3 Pro3 oscillators could be sequenced independent of an external module.
@@JamesonNathanJones haha it's all good, honestly I think your video turned out a little better than mine anyway! I've done the same thing before too, accidentally took an idea from an old MS-20 video by Ippei. Idk about the pitch quantization thing though! Much love and respect
Haha thanks for understanding! There’s so much content (both consuming and creating) it honestly gets difficult to know whether I came up with something or not sometimes. 😅 Thanks for reminding me in this case. Just subscribed so I can steal even MORE of your ideas I guess! Lol
Youre channel is ACE for me, according to where i stand , in my own EURORACK and Allround synth understanding - its so good , i learn alot , and i like your style,-
Ok, so I'm in this weird spot where I'm forever curious about eurocrack but never really had the cash to dive into. I think you're one of the few people that explore the synths capabilities in your use case. Really using what you have and trying to get most out of it. Still, after watching these I'm more intrigued by the brains than the knobby wall in the end. Thanks for the glimpse into your process :) Cheers!
Really cool that Sequantial added this possibilities (many manufacturers should follow this example). You made a really interesting and inspiring video. Thank you for sharing♥️
Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering if i would ever start a eurorack, considering the pro3 could be the brain. It seems the rabbithole scares me more then i'm willing. Anyways, great explanation, great video! Cheers
Hey Jameson, first off all loving your content, but especially your music. Big cheers, you keep being a great inspiration for me personally! Partly because of your videos I decided to buy a PRO 3 SE and I'm loving it! I was on the fence of getting into eurorack but settled on a PRO 3. Now a year later I feel the urge to buy one/two eurorack modules to expand my connectivity/functionality with my DAW, PRO 3 and the eurorack modules. I'm looking mostly for modulation and IO modules (like the ES-8). What would your personal suggestions be if you'd were to get only a handfull of modules to enhance your PRO 3 with?
Seems like a very decent solution to sequence eurorack and process its audio (and better than the iridium for sure) but the sequencing side of things doesn't compete with dedicated sequencers (like the Oxi One) and audio processing doesn't compete with dedicated eurorack modulable filters and effects...obviously. Nonetheless this setup makes a lot of sense if you have the pro 3 already and want to save $$$, the pro 3 seems like it has the best sequencer of any synth.
One possible workaround would be to quantize the CV on the Eurorack side if you have something that does pitch quantization. (It looks like you maybe have an o_C module?). Not as elegant as outputting quantized CV, but still a very modular style solution.
@@BlackMan614 Perhaps my intent was misinterpreted. I was suggesting that one could use an unquantized modulation lane from the Pro-3 sequencer as a pitch source for CV and then use a quantizer module to snap the pitch to quantized scale values. As a workaround to having to sacrifice an oscillator on the Pro-3 to drive an oscillator on the modular. This is pretty common problem with modular where I would say unquantized CV sources are more the norm than the exception, which is why a quantizer is a pretty common utility module. It doesn't defeat the point of using the Pro-3 to control the modular. Quite the opposite, it makes the Pro-3's sequencer more useful.
@@JamesonNathanJones Ah, that makes sense. The nice thing about modular these days is that you can buy a solution to any problem. That's also the downside.
manual says you need to send note number to cv out tune the modular to match pro 3 pitch on say A440 then if scaling is not consistent across octaves - on global enter CV OUT scale and tweak scaling until all octaves are in tune

Really appreciate that Mikkel!
Thank you for showing how to proceed from the initial seq at 3:31 (blah!) to the complex and beautiful result at 28:50 (wow!).
Been waiting for this vid! Cheers

@11:26 Thank you SIR! 👍
I really need to use my pro 2 this way
Very interesting dude,enjoyed
So…about that Iridium/Modular video. I’m saying, it’s only right. 😂 the Moog got one and now the pro 3? Bro come on now…

Is it possible to use the pro-3 with a external sequencer in the eurorack? (Thanks for the infos in the video!)
Absolutely. It has 4 assignable eurorack inputs as well as outputs.
is it possible for desktop virus Ti to be controlled by pro 3 sequencer and play pro 3 keyboard same time?
Thanks

newbie with moog/dfam and getting the pro 3 not sure can i can use the pro 3 modularly with the moogs. Any hints or tips for me anyone?
Would it be possible to use the Pro 3 sequencer with my Moog Voyager with the VX-351 and CP-251?
Wouldnt it be good to use the pro 3 sequencer in combination with the matriarch?

Good point. I was tempted to do that very thing, but decided to focus mainly on using the Pro3’s sequencer.
You could still use the quantizer w/ the sequencer. But yeah… kinda defeats the point of using the Pro-3 to control the modular. Sheesh…

I'm looking to expand my Pro 3 into eurorack is there any modules you could suggest that would pair well?
Sounds like you should maybe buy a quantizer module or a polymodule with a quantizing function.
I have Ornament and Crime, but was trying to show a limitation for those who are only using the Pro3’s sequencer.
@@JamesonNathanJones Ah, that makes sense. The nice thing about modular these days is that you can buy a solution to any problem. That's also the downside.
Haha very true

That’s what I’ve done here. The limitation I mention seems to lie with the sequencer only having three lanes that are quantized as far as I can tell.
What if you plugged the Pro3 and Matriarch into each other?! :D
