I love a destash. It's really a weight lifted. I definitely get guilty about "wasted money" but in general I try to look at coloring books as experiences so even a few pages done makes it "worth it"
Hey Dani! It's not money wasted because whatever made you buy the book, was the reason for the spending. So say I buy a book because I have a cr*ppy day, the money spent made my day a bit nicer. If I coloured in it afterwards or not, the money spent still had a purpose... it cheered me up, and perhaps thats all its purpose was meant to be! 🥰
I'm slowly learning to let go of the guilt. As a crafting enthusiast, I have LOTS of supplies for various crafts. I tend to go a bit crazy when I find a new craft and have to have it all; then I find myself with too much stuff and on to a new hobby. It's a process, but I'm letting go of the guilt and the clutter. It brings me joy to pass them on to people and places I know will appreciate them. HUGS! 💜Cathy😺
Hi Cathy! I just did the same thing.....10 books Out The Door! Some Brand New, Most Uncolored, My Taste in Coloring has Certainly Changed. About 5 Years ago, I donated 25 books to a Teacher at Our Local Charter School, I sent 1 for each student, and 1 for the Teacher plus Lots of Crayola Colored Pencils and Taotree Glitter Gel Pens. It feels Good to Pay it Forward! Thank You for Sharing this Wonderful Video!👍🏻💜😊
Wahoo for you blessing others with the joy of coloring. I've always found joy in giving and knowing the materials are appreciated is wonderful. Yes, nursing homes and group homes live donations. At my facility, we have several residents who color. I was once in a crochet group where we had a detash and swapped yarn with each other by mail. That was a lot of fun

Thanks. Love looking at the odd and quirky books I don't usually see. I'm not buying now and I haven't bought anything for a long time but I still do a review and clear out every year of my stash. To answer your question my daughter and son's girl friend get first pick and everything they don't want goes to charity. I used to give it to the life styles officer where I previously worked but not I donate it to the local Animal Welfare opportunity shop. I think I have destashed roughly half of everything I've ever had at this point.
I've destashed a few books over the years but this was my first big one. It felt to freeing. I know I'll end up with a similar stack every year. It makes me happy knowing there are others who pay it forward too. THANKS!

I just recently destashed a bunch of books and loved it! I donated to an assisted living who was thrilled to have them. It’s a shame that book stores, where people might go if they have heard about adult coloring, carry some of the highest detailed, very high expectations for coloring kind of books. It’s a shame our regular people we all seem to love aren’t the ones sold in stores. I think it would be such a nicer introduction. I was just like you. I had been through the loss of scrapbooking stores and feared adult coloring would be just a phase, especially just a Covid phase, so I bought everything! Every supply, every book. It was ridiculous. If I saw it on a video I bought it. Oh well. Live and learn. I think it’s why I’m hesitant to get into Diamond painting. I see that as another rabbit hole I’ll explode into! 😂
WAHOO for blessing the assisted living residents!! They will have so much fun playing in the books. Funny that you mentioned diamond painting....I have a kit I've been working on for over 4 years....meaning it's mostly been hanging out in the box. BUT, I just purchased two of the small canvas sets that kept popping up as ads in my feed. ACK! I have no will power....but I think they will be easier to work on with all the kitty helpers in my house. 💜Cathy😺

I did not know there was a Million Mermaids book (new to those books) so I’m off to Amazon to buy it because I love anything mermaid or ocean. Clean out anything that’s just not bring joy and being used is best to move out. You bless yourself with unneeded items and then you can bless others that can and will find joy in them.
The A Million series by Lulu Mayo is so adorable and I know others will be happy to color in them. I wasn't reaching for them and they deserve to be loved. I hope you were able to get a copy; happy coloring!
It came yesterday and colored in it last night. It’s a fun book and one to not take so seriously for me. It’s a fast color and the square brutfuners are so pretty on that paper. There are many books I’m not a fan of or many be, I just haven’t got there yet in my coloring and life is too short for something that just doesn’t do it for you! Gifting it away will make someone very happy and maybe help them find a new love of coloring.

I know that a week or a month from now I'm going to think 'Where is XXXX book, I want to color in it." 😹 I have a very hard time getting rid of things, even when I know they will be appreciated.
This was such a timely video! I’ve been looking for a place to donate some books I’d like to de stash. Thank you for the great suggestions. I haven’t even thought of some of those places. I also dive into hobbies head first before I really know what my likes are. So I’m in the same boat.

I recently destashed some art supplies I didn’t prefer plus some coloring books that simply stressed me and were never fun. I’m also decluttering my sewing room. I can only recommend it because it just makes one feel so free and it’s nice to have more space again. TFS and happy coloring 👍🏾!
Wahoo for you!!! I have many crafty supplies that I need to go through and destash. The coloring books were the easiest and have motivated me to keep going. I find I don't enjoy what I have when I feel overwhelmed with all the extra stuff.
I definitely fall in head first like you. I have a ton of yarn I would trade for coloring books.
I need to take the time to do a serious declutter of my craft area. I have many crafty projects that need finishing and supplies that need to either be used or passed on. I haven't done yarn hobbies (yet). My mom was an avid crocheter and I love the blankets she made for me.
So refreshing to let go of what we no longer need or use or want! I am doing a teeny one right now. I have given some to the assisted living facility I work with but they aren’t being used. So this time I thought I would take them to our local country post office (I live in the middle of nowhere) where folks have set up a free book exchange shelf and add these to it. Maybe it will encourage others to destash their coloring books and a swap could happen! I am going to do it with my mom’s completed puzzles too. It’s great to keep the energy flowing!
I LOVE the free book exchanges! I always have to stop when I see one and usually have a few books in my van to drop off. I haven't seen any coloring books in the ones I visit but when I put some in they disappear quickly. GREAT idea to pay forward the puzzles! 💜Cathy😺

I feel the same, do not like Zen doodle at all, great idea to destash and have the books get used by someone else.
I've colored a few zendoodle pages and they are too futzy for me. The images are cute, but I'd rather color a different style. 💜Cathy😺

I'm like you on the money I spent on my books. There's several that no longer appeal to me. Most of them are zendoodle-y like the ones you're destashing. I still haven't quite decided WHERE to destash them to.
It took me months to finalize the pile; some books kept moving in and out of it. I was thrilled when the art teacher wanted to take them. I don't think she expected so many; but I know she'll share with all her classes and the other teachers. 💜Cathy😺
