Can I say, that this might be the best performance I've seen him do of this song! I know I'm not qualified to access, but this particular one has the most meaning to me. Thanks.
I saw him and The Guess Who back in the mid seventies, and they were fantastic, but I think they've only gotten better over the years, like a fine wine! Burton's unique voice is identifiable from the very first line of a song and hasn't skipped a beat in 50yrs, it just gets better and better! 🇨🇦 🎹🎙🤘
My dad saw him in a mall once sat down at the piano there and giving an impromptu performance for everybody. And he sounded perfect. Fucking imagine that.
Not so at all. It's your own perspective, I guess, but a tv show and a large following is doing quite well. Respected musician. No industry "hype" was required.
what wonderful memories we all have of what/where we were when this played. great music we had, Thank you Burton you made my youth so much better when things weren't that good for me and so many others as we made our way thru youth. listening to great sound cheers
For me, this has been the soul-searching essence of all that Burton Cummings has meant to the music industry for all his days! The most favoured of the Burton Cummings library of huge rock 'n roll hits, this song reflects all that a gifted and revered music artist can possibly deliver. This song is so representative of this music legend's artistic essence that among all others it represents the heart and soul of truly exceptional talent in the journey of rock 'n roll stardom. His voice brings his audience to tears, touching on the most significant of life's most cherished moments through every single performance, and somehow, miraculously, even better than all performances before! I love this man and all that he has dedicated his life and being. Godspeed, my friend; your journey has been a significant aspect of my own being. Love and the best life moments to you, always!
This is great. What a story about how the song was conceived. Something we can all relate to, after watching something that strikes a personal cord. Burton expresses those feelings by piano & hires a great team to deliver the goods. Also great to see Cummings play this song for real: no 'singing' over 'live' playbacks. Long live Burton! LL
Break it to them gently... this song reminds me of one of my brothers, that ran shine all though KY, VA and part's of TENN. we live in the back woods of KY and I can remember my brother calling my mom on the phone and telling her not to worry because everything that he was doing was for her to have the things that she never had, but as time went on my brother never called back ever again!.. Always one of my favorite Guess Who songs. I used to think of my buddies from the neighbourhood that weren't as lucky as myself when we were teens. I got out early by going down to the waterfront and started working on ships at the age of 15. But, some of my buddies, in desperation, ended up on the wrong side of the Law, and... You know the rest. This song depicts the life some of them led for many years. Hope Rob makes that call one day...
Great song! I love his explanation about how he came up with the song and how he was inspired by a TV episode. Absolutely brilliant! HE is one of Canada's greatest musicians for sure!
I fell in love with this song as a teen back in '78 when they would play it on the radio, cuz of the line, "Roll it to my grandma, she's damn near 80". I could "swear" and get away with it as I was singing along! Years later, I really listened to the story behind the words. It has always been my favorite Burton Cummings song. Mind you, I love every song that has ever come out from under that iconic moustache!
Burton Cummings and the guess who enriched my life with awesome music when I was a youth. I was always a country music fan but the guess who’s style of rock and roll is just damn good music, plain and simple. Well written and awesomely performed. Thank you

I was a huge Guess Who Fan, then became an even bigger Burton fan. This was back in gthe 70's. Time went by, I grew up, became only interested in classical music. Last summer Burton gave a free concert on Detroit's riverfront and my husband and I went. Guess what? I just became a huge Burton fan again. I hadn't seen or heard him in so many years, but his concert last summer (June, 2015) showed that he is still just wonderful. What a voice, and he hasn't lost a thing as he ages. True talent. March of 2015 we went to his show at Caesars Windsor. He is so great. Wish he appeared in Detroit/Windsor area more often.

Saw Burton in Concert last weekend in Milwaukee. Amazing energy and presentation. You could close your eyes and he literally sounds as great as he did decades ago. I was fortunate enough to meet the band and Burton after the concert. Truly was a gentleman and his band was so down to earth. At 73 it was one of the best concerts that I have attended over the past 40 years. Burton keep touring. Can't wait to see you again.
Any time a song gives you goose bumps from the start you know that it will be a great song. Always loved the Guess Who as well as Burton. I was lucky enough to see them in concert. What a great show. One of the ALL TIME GREATEST BANDS.
You know how you have a handful of songs that define a time, a moment in your life, that they are forever etched into your memory and have become part of the narrative of your life. This is one of the songs of my narrative. It takes me back to a single weekend. I hear it and I am transported. I wish I could talk to myself as a 17 year old

Anyway, Sunday morning I'm standing in front of the motel waiting for my dad to take me to sunday school and one of the band members is standing by their bus smoking a cigarette. I walked up and asked him what the bands name was. They had a school bus with "The Guess Who" painted on the side. He said " Guess Who". So I guessed. I said " The Dave Clark five". No he said, The Guess Who, I said " The Monkees" He said no, and he pointed at the bus, "The Guess Who" is the name of our band, I remember I looked at him and said "That is so Stupid". lol lol. later as I grew up, I fell in love with The Guess Who. But soon after that Sunday morning, they recorded "These Eyes" and they never played teen dances again.
