      I must agree as i have my Spotify settings on extreme...but i believe the extreme quality is still just 320kbps compression, which is still noticeably worse than FLAC or WAV...add to that if you run it over bluetooth its degraded even more...just my observation tho :)

    • @eaglefeather
      @eaglefeather 6 лет назад +2

      MrShiffles Thats totally true, bluetooth has a big degradation in quality but the benefit is that you have everything in the palm of ypur hand, no need to go to a computer to download new songs. And from normal to extreme there is a big differemce. Now tweeters dont saturate and hurt my ears, especially in the higher volumes. Tho nothing can compare to flac audio and a dsp

    Another cheap fix is to just buy a new set of door clips or fasteners any time you need to remove the door card. While you may not actually break them when removing the door, clips do age and become less resilient over time and are prone to minor damage during the removal process and they may not hold as well after the reinstall. Replacing them can often be a good precaution against undesirable rattles from loose panels.
    You should also check the inside of your door card for any loose trim, seams, or accessories. If you find any, you can seal them with epoxy putty, or even body filler. Anything that will permanently bond those panels and prevent them from rattling. If those panels need to remain removable, fabric tape on the two mating surfaces can help dramatically to reduce vibration. If you notice vibrations within your door card even after all of that, try putting as large of a piece of butyl rubber deadening material onto the outer skin of your door pocket as will fit. Just stick it to the inside where you won't be able to see it. Those thin outer door pocket skins are prone to picking up resonance and will make the entire door car buzz.

    A quick note about streaming, I use Pandora Premium and you can download playlists, albums, stations and really anything else you'd use for offline use. I've downloaded hundreds of songs to my LG V20 and play them back without using any data from my phone plan. Even stations work just as you'd hope offline (thumbs up and down still work perfectly)

    the larger terminal is usually positive speakers as well
    also a large, old quilt is great for consuming holes and cavities in the trunk/hatch area for a super cheap sound deadening
    solution
    i would also recommend cleaning your battery terminals and retorque-ing them as well as making sure the grounds are still solid and free of corrosion as a quick and cheap way to potentially help out your system

    If you want to save data (in case your carrier gives you limited high speed internet) use Ymusic, , because you can sign in with your google account and listen music directly from the youtube playlist you made using EDGE, but for that you have to: set up mp3 encoding on libshine for faster loading speed, set the bitrate on 94kb, set the quality on low quality and uncheck "use mobile data" for album artwork and other data. Audio quality is quite great, its not bad at all if you think so, you can only hear the difference if you have lg's quad beat headphones and lenovo phone that uses dolby atmos as its main equaliser

    Ill be replacing the door skin's, as they are shot. Ill be making new skins.
    Just wondering if you have any recommendations for types of MDF? Thickness etc?
    Ill chuck the speaker gasket sealing tape on the speakers, and around the new door skin's.

    You'd actually want to pan the audio to the right to get a center image in the driver seat. Because you're sitting closer to the left speaker its naturally going to sound louder to you. So by making the right speaker louder you shift the image to the center.

    Interesting, I do all of said things and more, just proves that we are the kind getting the most out of life. In One irock I built, I bought a amp and subwoofer with four speakers and wired them to the amp installed a new head unit. I also made a encloser for the sub myself. For audio stuff I spent $137. My friends spent $1500 to aftermarket upgrade theirs, mine supperseeds theirs in sound quality. They all even asked me to upgrade theirs like mine. Some things in life don't cost money as I've learned but instead intelligence.

    Great stuff. My only observation here is your suggestion to tape the wire down inside boxes. When doing this it's important to use a good quality tape that can stand elevated temperatures. Most tapes cannot. WHY? Well it'll only take a few summer days in the sun to dry out that tape and before you know it that cable is rattling again! If you can, use mechanical clips or tie wraps with those little screw on bases. Also wrap the cables in a cloth tape (cycle handlebar tape is good).

    One I think you should have pointed out is either putting rubber between the screws and the mounting bracket for your license plate or what I've done in the past is just shoved folded up rag behind the plate. There's nothing that drives me more insane than when someone drives by and you can't even hear their base over their license plate rattling

    Love your videos always tons of good info... Quick question for you. When you install Cross overs do you suggest putting them closer to the speakers or closer to the amps. The only major differences i can see would be Easier accessibility near the amp but much more speaker wire is used.

    • @KlasR82
      @KlasR82 6 лет назад

      Corey Van Leeuwen Skip the crossovers that comes with the kit and use the crossovers built in amplifier instead. Usually they're much better.

    • @xXOAXxTempest
      @xXOAXxTempest 6 лет назад

      That is how i had my stock speakers hooked up and i controlled the cross over from the amp forward vs using the head unit but this never had my tweeters running off the amp just the head unit which was fine with stock speakers. Ive recently bought some very nice speakers ( hertz millie pro MPK 163.3) to replace my front speakers and tweeters and i really have a hard time believing that my 120$ sony amp can even remotely compare to a 700$ speaker systems built in cross overs, also there is no way to split the signal from my amp to the mid bass and tweeter unless i used all 4 chan just for the fronts then i would be left with no power for my rears that also require power from the amp (after market matching hertz)

    • @JC-qw3mr
      @JC-qw3mr 6 лет назад +1

      For the length of speaker wire involved, you won't notice any difference. Unless you're using real low end wire and components, then personally I would be as close to speakers as I could. Because the amp will have more pushing power then the xover.

      Thomas Haws lol 4 sure if u actually use it. I have mine in the open and they'll overheat at max in hot days. Installers will limit what you have so its output doesn't overheat it.

    Quick question. Putting 2 amps in trunk of a car. How important is it to separate speaker wires from power, remote ect ect.?

    • @ryannow
      @ryannow 6 лет назад +1

      Very. Especially because 2 amps will potentially have 2x the power running through those wires. Induction is a very real contributor to noise in any system, and although speaker wires are less susceptible than RCAs (because they are higher voltage) they'll still pick some of it up. Note that there are things you can do to minimize this effect such as using twisted pair and/or shielded wires, multi-shielded wires, balanced line drivers, isolation transformers, etc and if they must cross paths, ensuring power/signal wires cross at a 90degree angle (perpendicular).

    But still nothing can beat pure analog like an acoustic guitar natural sound :)

      Manjul Walia digital actually has the capacity to soumd far better than analog recording. Now that almost all playback and storage media is digital recording in that format makes more sense than converting from analog to digital. Every time a song is converted from analog to digital or the other way around there is a great potential for losses and distortion to be added in the process. No mater the quality of the dac or adc used the potential is there. Also the bit rate at which digital is recorded can far out perform analog recordings. But there will always be the type of person who thinks that the sound of a tube amp is anything but added harmonic distortion and also swears by analog recordings. That being said class d amplification is going to be the downfall of quality sound. Unless they can figure out the output filter problem.

    Is the amp powering the speakers and the sub or what? I want to get two front door speakers and a sub and a head unit the sub is 300 nominal watts and the speakers are like 55 should I run the speakers off the head unit and get a mono amp for the sub or can I get a 4 channel amp and run 2 to the speakers and bundle 2 for the sub in case I want to ad more speakers? I don’t really know what I’m doing lol.

    It’s actually sad how much time and effort artists, producers and sound engineers put into recording, mixing, mastering a song only to have it get “squashed “ into a super low bit rate MP3.. Thanks for the tips by the way, great video!

      Proper 256kbps+ at 44.1kHz is more detail than the human ear can detect, especially with modern encoders (not from the early 2000s). Any defects in the sound stage, channel separation or dynamics are A) placebe, B) coincidence (like erroneous data transfer from the source) or C) faulty/inferior encoders.

    • @tcoffin014
      @tcoffin014 6 лет назад

      It's more complicated than that. You really need a processor to be able to okay with the stage. Just adjusting balance will move all frequencies to that side. So some voices and instruments may shift, but others won't or could do the opposite because of reflections and speaker placement. Cars are terrible listening rooms lol

    • @christinahollingsworth7080
      @christinahollingsworth7080 5 лет назад

      tcoffin014 processors are a bandaid for a poor quality installation. Totally unneeded of you take the time and get speaker placement and aiming right. Time alignment is great for lazy or shitty installers. Or for the customer that wants a good image and stage but refuses to modify his car and would rather just throw more equipment at the problem.

    • @tcoffin014
      @tcoffin014 5 лет назад

      Christina Hollingsworth haha no not at all. Processors are always needed to get the best possible sound in a car. There is no perfect installation in a car. It's a freaking car. There's glass everywhere, seats in the way, speakers at different distances. Go look up the best installations in history. Or any sound quality competition car. There isn't a single one that's doesn't have a processor. If you're in a house with a sound room, deadened walls, speakers placed perfectly, enclosures designed exactly for those speakers, and everything like that, then yeah there's no need for a processor. But even if you get the best installation possible, adding a processor makes a world of difference. Bring me your perfect sounding car and I'll put one in for free to show you.

      tcoffin014 dude they had sq competitions many years before dsp were introduced. And the scores haven't gone up much at all. Dsp is a bandaid for lazy incompetent installers. My car images almost perfectly and my stage is about a foot and a half wider than my a pillars. No dsp. Just custom speaker placement and aiming. The only thing a dsp is useful for is having 31 bands of eq per channel and mot all of them do that. Youre not talking to some rookie here bud. Just the fiberglass materials i have in my ride are probably worth more than your car. Have yet to enter it in any comps but have had experienced competitors listen to it and no e could say anything negative other than it needs to be finished. Once again dsp are bandaids at best. You sound like the kind of kid who thinks class d is the best thing to come along since processed cheese. Throwing extra unneeded equipment at an install isn't the way to.make it sound better. In fact it cam quickly make it sound worse. Any equipment in the signal path from source to speaker has the potential to add unwanted distortion and color your sound. And don't even get me started on the way dsp sum the signal from said source and the phase distortion that causes. An active 3way or higher crossover network is far better way to divide ones signal than that bullshit piece of software.
