Less stuff on it the less to break down. I bought a washer like this in 1988 at Sears it ran for 17 years no service calls. When something did break I thought because of its age I would just replace it.Bought a basic Whirlpool washer with bigger tub,and so far no problems.
Pretty good washer. I used to have a 1980s Kenmore 70 Series direct drive washer. I loved that washer until we traded it and had the Whirlpool Duet for nine short years. Now I have a Maytag Centennial HE Washer.
My parents owned it actually and my mom did the laundry until I started washing my clothes and my brother and parents and I have done the laundry ever since
here is something interesting i found out about dryers: the dryers with a steam feature have a cold water inlet on the back instead of a water tub thing in front of the control panel and also the damp dry signal is used to tell you when to take smaller items out that don't need to be dried anymore and another thing is when using sensor drying cycle, the dryer will end the cycle when the air blowing against the moisture sensor is a certain dryness level which is determines by the dryness level somewhere on the control panel
Those agitators from my use tear up clothes more than the regular agitators. If I had to go back to a top loader again, I'd want the straight vein agitator. That was the same agitator that caused all my unbalanced spins, and broke the machine, which resulted in my junking it. I almost never had that problem with straight vein agitators, as it almost always kept my clothes in the same place as I loaded it. Sales people hate me when I speak the truth about those agitators.
Got an 80 series myself. 97 so it's 20 years old and still going strong. Only things that ever went wrong is the water inlet valve and agitator dogs. It's got quite a bit of features too. You can't beat a Direct Drive Whirlpool!
I'm still using this washer! I brought it in 2004, it is still going strong. Had to replace the coupler, other than that it has been amazing. I hope it will last another decade. Washers nowadays got too much things going on. Keep it simple and basic is the way to go. I highly doubt I can buy a washer today and it will last 10 years.
Whirlpool which makes Kenmore only put long lasting durable parts in there commercial washer which has a coin dispenser on it and cost about twice what you paid.
I hate the dual agitators found on most top loaders. When I bought my last top loader, I bought a Hotpoint in 1996, just because of the 1 piece agitator. Unfortunately, GE doesn't make washing machines to last, as the part that held the tub in place during the wash cycle broke, and was unrepairable. Had to junk it after 3 years. But when it worked, it had less wear & tear on my clothes. Believe it or not, other than the water level knob, it was more advanced than most GE's in 1996.
Hmmmm...I've used a full scoop of Tide HE in a few Maytag top loaders at the laundromat. It was great NOT to see a lot of suds, and to me the laundry came out fairly clean.
Hays Coleman I have a Kenmore top load HE. One with a wash plate that many dislike, however it has been a really good machine for me. It washes very well as long as you load it right.
nice; you should do video on it someday (you can bypass the lid lock by taking the locking mechanism out of the lid using a special screwdriver and then you put it into the hole and then you will be able to watch it with the lid open
You say your washer is sensitive to unbalanced loads? My washer is a Kenmore HE3T and everytime it shakes the slightest bit, it stops and tumbles the load to balance it and does that for about 45 minutes. At least your washer doesn't have that annoying auto-balance feature.
Another thins is; have you owned a front load washer? The only one I like is the Whirlpool Duet so if your Kenmore HE Washer dies you could get that and we had one for six years
Jonathan Ashbeck I haven’t personally, but a cabin I manage has a Kenmore front loader. I think it was built by LG. It seems about the same except for styling and accent colors. It’s ok, but I actually like my top loader HE better. If I don’t leave it open after each use for awhile it seems to smell musty. Otherwise it’s alright. Maybe the Whirlpool is a better design. Not sure. I haven’t really looked at them.
the most basic whirlpool direct drive washing machine has only a timer dial on the right of the control panel which means the machine has only 1 water level and it has 2 cycles: regular (or heavy duty) and permanent press but since the machine is a single speed the difference of the permanent press cycle is there are 2 spray rinses during the 1st spin and both cycles have 2 spray rinses during the final spin
This washer died a few months ago, but I will leave the video up because it was a good little washer that served me well for many years. I have since bought a Kenmore HE top load and I like it even though I know some people don't care for the top load HE washers. I will make a video of it sometime soon.
YOu've never had this washer rip or shred anything? Well that's hard to believe, because their nickname is ShredMore.. I guess I don't know how many clothes to put in the tub. I think if the clothes are still moving, I haven't overloaded it
The washer died a few months ago. It made it almost 10 years so I don't really have any complaints considering it was a very low priced model. I replaced it with a Kenmore HE top load washer. So far I'm happy with my new HE and I will do a video about it sometime.
We had a 1980s Kenmore 70 series direct drive washer for years before selling it and we bought a 2000s Whirlpool Duet Washer and had it for six years and it really did the job compared to other front loaders and HE washers but a sock got caught in between the drum which caused the drum to make a loud clank clank noise on the final spin cycle before we had to sell it and then we bought the Maytag Centennial and I initially liked it but I hate it because it overflowed several times this past year and it leaked water 6/7 times and we still have it but it’s in the garage and now we have a 1997 Whirlpool direct drive washer now and I like it and it runs great though it does have yellow iron stains in the drum and sometimes it will shake when it’s spinning so which is why I put weight on it to prevent it from rattling
Never use HE detergent in a standard non HE machine. The detergent will be too diluted and will not do a good job cleaning because of the massive amount of water needed in this type of machine.
I wish there were videos like these where people wouldn't talk over the camera. I would like to hear the washing machine sound and the water splashing.
Please keep this machine, don't buy the high efficiency crap becuase they don't wash you clothes properly, and the parts cost as little a 200$ so a LOT cheaper than a new $500.00 washer.m

i always loved the sound the machines make just as the drain starts.

Mine finally bite the dust after 16 years of service. I still remember this video.
I agree. To me, less wear & tear on the clothes than the dual agitators, which I find much harsher on the clothes.

cool washer can u do a vid of ya dryer
Nice Video
I love this washer
You should check out the washer videos from Sharkie626, JayKay18, and Lexmarks567.

THIS VIDEO IS 10 YEARS OLD!!! *WOW!* although i watched it many years ago as a kid
Hays Coleman This washer isn't kicking anymore, but I still am. Haha
really? what kind of washing machine do you have now?
Hays Coleman I have a Kenmore top load HE. One with a wash plate that many dislike, however it has been a really good machine for me. It washes very well as long as you load it right.

I think it was about $350.00 and I bought it in Yankton, SD at the Sears store.
There is an even simpler model made by Roper (part of Kenmore like Inglis and Estate) that does not even have a water level switch, only a timer XD

can you do a video of your Kenmore HE washer?
Please?
that must be a 2003 Kenmore washer then
Cavarious Avery It's been years since I had this machine, but I believe I purchased it from a Sears Hometown store in the fall of 2002.

Plus,
The Kenmore elite oasis's with the agitators are awesome but, the ones without the agitators are no so good.(no offense, its just my opinion)
i think you short change your washer just a bit. it may be BOL but its almost exactly like the machines that cost much more.
The parts for this machine cost as little as 200$, so better savings.
Never use HE detergent in a standard non HE machine. The detergent will be too diluted and will not do a good job cleaning because of the massive amount of water needed in this type of machine.
Lol it's a good thing that you speak the truth about it :) they want to make money and they will lie to sell anything
Direct Drive Kenmore's/Whirlpool's spin 660 RPM's on full speed.
dude your washer Looks alot like ares that is a Cool washer!
lol I Think we got ares at the same stor
I Have a Kenmore Washer And a Kenmore Dryer
Sears Makes Good Kenmore Appliances
Iam A Sears Fan.
The other thing is WHIRLPOOL washers have a better Vent than Kenmores do
I wish there were videos like these where people wouldn't talk over the camera. I would like to hear the washing machine sound and the water splashing.
Your washer is better than a kenmore oasis
Omg mr. Paulsen
Bailey Guttery Thank you for your comment! 😊
The clothes settle when wet so that is a Medium load
What happened to the washer?
A washer is a washer, ps I have a hoover optima, 1400 rpm, looks more like a computer control centre lol
Cheesy
that's strange, that kenmore washing machine does not have wash temperture on it's own like every other washers?
How much was this washer and in which city did you purchase it?
it's kenmore.
how did I get this far into youtube?
is that agitator a 1 peice or 2 peice?
What exactly happened to it? ya never know, it could have been an easy repair.
I feel bad for your washing machine you can't even select the water temperature.
you can but it also affects the wash time
do a board game
Please keep this machine, don't buy the high efficiency crap becuase they don't wash you clothes properly, and the parts cost as little a 200$ so a LOT cheaper than a new $500.00 washer.m
