    1. You can definitely apply for PR being in your home country but why should they approve your application? TO Get a Canadian PR is VERY complicated process.
    2. It is correct that wages in Canada a bit higher but you cannot compare the wage itself! Exclude taxes, and please calculate expenses! In Canada your expenses are 80-90 of your salary while in UK it 60-70% so comparing wage itself is not correct imho

    Thanks for the video!
Its important to note that the average salaries mentioned (at least for Canada) are pre-tax and after tax salaries look a LOT different depending on your family situation and where you live. Taxes are hefty and on an average, salary increases are not currently keeping up with inflation. Surely, every place has its pros and cons. When moving to a country like Canada, it's important to narrow down to the province or region you want to get more info on or move to. Ontario's cost of living and job market looks different compared to Alberta, for instance. Just something to consider.

I live in Canada but plan to move Uk. Canada is a really well-advertised country but it is like a ballon. Getting Pr is not easy, it looks easy but when you dive in you will see hundreds of details. Yeah you get pay well but rent is crazy. Uk is more centralized country which allows you to travel other countries. But Canada only has Us as a neighbour. Yeah Uk weather is more likely rainy but in Canada weather is freezing and almost 5-6 months is under -5. During winter it drops to -20 -25 .

If you're going to use the living cost of toronto vs london, you also need to use the london vs toronto wages too. The UK economy revolves around London. There was a study a few years ago that found the UK without london is poorer than the US state of mississipi. The London wage is waaaay higher than the rest of the UK, but the cost of living is also far higher.

As a Brit, I also agree. Perhaps we are biased (grass is always greener effect) but the UK is very centralised around London and the South East. I feel like these replies are mostly comparing London to the whole of Canada, instead of the whole of the UK to the whole of Canada. London has *incredible* opportunities, probably more than Toronto/Vancouver, but outside of South East England, the UK overall, has less opportunities. Also, as you note - a big standout is that the people in Canada are friendlier. The UK and Canada have two of the most polite populations in the world (in my experience), but Canadians are friendlier and warmer to newcomers, quite significantly.

Hey Batra. Thank you :) I can definitely say that work life is better balanced here to the extent that stores are closed at 5PM on weekends so that employees get to enjoy the weekend. From what I know Canada is similar. But something to bear in mind is that it always depends on the specific role you are in. 21-25 days annual leave in UK is pretty standard (which it is true from my experience and you are able to take them), whereas the norm in Canada is 10-15 days (this is from internet research, no first hand experience)... but it depends on your job, I have a Canadian friend, he explained that if you are not doing a high flying job or working for a company you are climbing the ladder, so e.g. his gf does temp office assistant jobs, so when she wants to travel for a few months, she just quit, travel and find a job again when she gets back

    Comprehensive video!
I moved to Canada as a student at 20 and got my degrees there BEFORE moving to the UK as a scientist and be closer to my ex.
    Still have my Canadian PR!!
For skilled professionals I believe it makes less difference in both places even if the UK wage is lower.
OTOH, the networking and professional opportunities in the UK is much higher since you have London which is a global capital for the arts, fashion, finance and so much more!! More expensive yes but the number of opportunities is great. I’d love to raise my children in London since they’d get exposure to so much diversity and other things.
Besides London, you also have Cambridge (Silicon Fen is the Silicon Valley of this country) and Oxford and Edinburgh and so much more.
Canada is closer to the US and hence many talented individuals move there so there’s brain-drain.
The UK has less of that problem and London and other places attract investing.
I hate the UK weather! Can’t say I don’t miss the Toronto Christmases since I spent nearly a decade there lol.
Overall, I don’t have problems in either place and at this point, one of the main reasons to live in the UK/Canada depends on my partner’s preferences.

You should mention freedom & liberty too; Canada is not very free when it comes to politics. If you express even slightly conservative views, or accidentally refer to a trans person using a pronoun they don't like, you can be shunned by your "friends" & work colleagues. That kind of public shaming/shunning is unthinkable in the UK. If you protest in Canada, you can have your bank account frozen, and back in the covid pandemic, Canada had vaccine passports. The UK didn't. Also, the crime rate in the UK may be higher than Canada, but the homicide rate is half in the UK than Canada, because guns are so hard to get in the UK.

As someone who lived in both Ontario and Alberta provinces and also lived in Scotland and England, I can give my 2 cents on this.
The UK is just expensive compared to Canada the fuel prices alone in the UK are insane both electricity and gas is almost double then what Canada offers e.g. gas price is 1.35 CAD/liter in Ontario and the UK is 1.49 GBP/liter that's double the difference.
Also, everything from car prices to electronics like laptops or phones are expensive in the UK e.g. you can get the latest brand new laptop in 1350 CAD from Canada that same laptop will cost you 1200 GBP means you are paying at least 450 CAD extra in GBP.
In the UK most people drive manual cars while in Canada it's hard to find manual cars, Canadians usually have bigger and more expensive cars while in the UK most of the cars you find on the streets are small hatchbacks.
Now let's talk about healthcare, Both in UK and Canada healthcare is free but most companies offer private insurance that covers almost 80% of the medicinal cost in Canada. In England, you have to pay for prescriptions, and in Scotland, a prescription is free which is the second good thing about it the first is Scotland offers your first bachelor's degree free if you are a Scottish citizen.
Rental costs in the UK are almost double and I am not talking about major cities like London, I am talking about cities like Liverpool or Manchester, even in Scotland which is the northern part of the UK if you live in Glasgow or Edinburgh it's very high. While in Canada other than Ontario if you move to provinces like Alberta which is the most developed province after Vancouver and Ontario you can still find a decent rental property.
Everything from Libraries to public parks is way more advanced than in the UK and is free to use for common people. You can even get free PS5 games for free from Canadian public library, and most of all the parking is free other than downtown you do not have to pay a dime for parking while in the UK you have to pay to park almost everywhere you go for fun ticket plus parking and if you by chance miss that you have to pay heavy fines.
There are so many points I can bring here but these are some of the things that irritate me the most.
One more thing in all my life I lived in Canada I never had to dry my clothes on a hanger all because electricity is so cheap that almost all houses and basements offer washers and dryers in Canada. But in the UK especially if you are renting you have to think twice about using a dryer due to high electricity bills so most people here use hanger to dry clothes. Also, you have to get your own washer and dryer or fridge sometimes when renting, it depends on case to case most landlords offer some or all appliances but some don't.
In Canada almost anywhere you rent you will get a stove, fridge, and washer & dryer it's considered as a basic necessity and it comes with the package and if you get lucky some apartments even comes with dishwashers.
Canadian fastfood and beverages are cheaper and more affordable and have more variety.
In UK other then McDonald's all fastfood chains are expensive, e.g a small coffee from Costa will cost you 3 gbp roughly while in Canada sometimes you even get free coffee weeks by McDonald's.they use to offer free coffee and soft drink refills.
Now let's talk about the infrastructure. Canada is much newer than the UK, it has wider roads, 4 ways highways and in general houses in Canada are also bigger than the UK.
So in my opinion Canada is much better for living compared to the UK.
But if you wanna travel then that's another story since UK location is in the middle of all the major destinations so of course the tickets are cheaper then Canada to almost all major destinations in Europe.

The UK is an old world country while the CA is a new world country, I'd say it's a lot easier to settle down in Canada for someone just begining their life, where as you'd have to be rich to start out in the UK. I'd say move to Canada.

It's been a long seeing you since infy days. The one thing you missed talking about is the amount of dark and depressing winters in UK. UK honestly gets very less sunlight in winters compares to Canada and for someone landing UK in winters is honestly a very weird. Sun sets by 2 in afternoon and rises up at around 10.00 am. All in all less sunlight which is equally compensated by long days in summers where sun is up until 11.pm

I lived in Canada for 23 years in Toronto prior to moving to the UK. I can comfortably say that your cost of living estimates in Toronto are understated by somewhere around 20%. In addition to that, depending on your profession, the income to cost of living in Toronto is terrible. Also some of your estimates might be missing sales taxes which is usually included in UK pricing while in Canada it’s not, therefore understating your true cost of living in Canada.

  • @protestagainst-injustice-lie

Are you sure @Ashika ? Do you feel Toronto cheaper ? How many days have you stayed in Canada before commenting ? Let me tell you, you can't survive here in Toronto with CA$ 70K or 80K salary. Nothing personal, I have seen many RUclipsr misguiding people and giving cool info about Canada but reality housing is very very expensive here - 2 bed minimum 2800 per month if you are lucky.
Healthcare is similar in both countries.

I agree with all the points, but I don’t agree with the salary and the 1 bhk cost comparison.
You said 1 bhk in london cost 1700 pounds. That is in central london right in the city centre.
Also the average wage of 2k pounds per month in uk as compared to around 4.5k cad per month in Canada. That is not correct I think. It’s not that easy to get 4.5k per month in Canada. In uk 2k per month is not that difficult at all. The average in Canada is much less. In uk it is around 33k pound per yr as per my information.
