That Castrol throwback had HUGE significance. It could bring many JGTC/Super GT (in which it was very successful), fans to watch the race, possibly bringing in overseas viewers. It's a videogame legend from Gran Turismo and SEGA Rally. This Castrol swoosh design is one of the most iconic liveries in all of motorsports, from various disciplines. I'd give it a 8 in significance and possibly 9 in nostalgia.
Regarding Brad's Castrol scheme, I think you gotta pump up the significance score because anyone that has every played a Forza, Gran Turismo, and any of the other racing arcade/sim games knows this paint scheme. It's an all time CLASSIC. Even today, if you hop on any online race in one of the big racing sim/ arcade games, you are practically guaranteed to see a Supra running this scheme in your racing lobbies.
The Hendrick cars are The best, The Kelloggs car, Jimmy Johnson throwback, The Dale Earnhardt Jr throwback, and the 2009 Jeff Gordon throwback! Those are some of the best
My little brother was actually named after Adrian Fernandez, my dad was an enormous Indycar fan all the way to the day he died, so it really warmed my heart to see that scheme being run this weekend, definitely the most personal to me of any they have ever run and it’ll be cool to see on Sunday
Hendrick's livery is so tasty. However, my take for best throwback livery has to be Keselowski's Castrol livery. So so good, especially from Gran Turismo/JGTC era
Man Larson my favorite driver repping my childhood favorite terry labontes livery... He better win his second championship this year this is too perfect.
The Xfinity throw backs were so good I’d love to see a video for those! The 42, 43, 44, and 97 especially stuck out to me. But the 00, 4, 15, 18, 29, 31 were all bangers too
Honestly, I'm waiting for the day that the 24 brings back the one scheme they ran in the 2000 Winston All-star event, I can't remember the exact name, like "the complete rainbow" 9r something along those lines. That would be sick. Also, maybe a throwback to Jerry Nadeau's first win in 2000, that white and blue Micheal Holigan's car.
I like the Gilliland one best, best looking Darkhorse so far, and looks so much like a late model, I liked the ones who threw back to short track cars like Berry, Briscoe, Preece. Also the Retzlaff one is great, love sneaking in the tobacco schemes.
finally someone agrees with me TODD GILLILAND i love how it has that blowing look on the numbers just everyone always wants same old Dale Sr Matt Kenseth, to me its not just always same old same old Todds just looks very unique tho there is alot of other good ones not only is Todd my fav so a biased there and John Hunter tied favs now adays but to me his just a little stands out. The others sorta been there done that in a sense.
I swear that every time I see that Daniel Suarez throwback with that green car and that skinny white number font. My mind immediately goes to chick hicks from Disney Pixar cars.
the 9 could have added 1 detail that people would freak out about have the debris painted on the nose, the debris he picked up on the grill at the end of that race.
Hendrick won cup and alpha prime won xfinity ive always loved the adrian indy car scheme when i was a kid so the suarez scheme has a 10 on nostalgia for me
I like the Dave Marcus scheme, Bobby Issac won the 1970 Grand National championship with that number, and with Harry Hyde as crew chief . K +K Insurance was the sponsor and owner .
The Larson 5 car is by far the best imo. They managed to make it almost look like the door number isn’t slid forward. If they were able to get Kellogg’s on board it would be all 10’s
Bell's is so disappointing. They should've just made that his normal Dewalt paint scheme this year (like how M&Ms changed their scheme for their 75th anniversary (and changed Kyle's number for 1 week only). But instead, we get this "throwback"
I hope next year Kyle Busch runs a particular blue and yellow #8 car. Dale Sr. ran his first Cup race in 1975 driving the #8 for Ed Negre. It would be a cool 50th anniversary celebration
While it's disappointing that it seems more teams have stopped trying for throwback weekend, the ones who do still care are putting out some bangers. McDowell's is the only one you could call a bad throwback this year (Maybe Lajoie's too). And the Xfinity Series seems to nail it every year. We got a great crop this year
Heck yeah, anybody who played Gran Turismo easily recognizes that 90s Castrol Tom's Supra. And a bit of trivia, the only NASCAR race car in the 90s featured in Gran Turismo, was the 6 car.
That Kaz Grala #15 Parnelli Jones TransAm throwback WINS in my book! Nothing says respecting the champions of Motorsports like honoring the vintage TransAm Series! What a beauty!
Well the Dave Marcis one it the most recognized scheme he ran, and it's Dodge 60's and early 70's time period. But, he ran many paint schemes over the years. I watch far more racing, especially international series, like World Endurance, Super GT and F1, so I see the TOM's Castrol to be an icon and very nostalgic.
It is an Xfinity car but Chad Finchum's throwback to 2001 Harvick is the best scheme of the weekend. Leland Honeyman's Mellow Yellow one is really good too.
Damn no mention on Sheldons Ivan "Ironman" Stewart Baja Toyota scheme for his Supra this weekend. Very significant for both Toyota and Sheldon as that's where Creed cut his teeth in racing was off road Baja style.
I think that #71 scheme is something recognizable I seem to remember Dave Marcus running that color combo quite a bit plus another driver from back in the early 70s also ran a #71 with those colors as well but I could be mistaken and I love what Trackhouse did with that #⁹⁹ for Suarez and of course the Hendrick Kellogg throwback is a home run as well
Been waiting for this! When I saw Brads scheme I almost cried. The Toyota supra from Grand Turismo 1 and 2 were some of my favorite video games cars ever...no joke chills when I first saw it.
The only Long John Silver paint scheme I could find was Martin Truex Jr Long John Silver's (Chevrolet) 2004 Bashas' Supermarkets 200 (Phoenix International Raceway) And my favorite paint scheme is Chase Elliott throwback to Dale Earnhardt Jr 2014 Daytona 500 win
Totally agree Eric of the New Race Hub. Sponsors call the shots, but it’s one race, a fun competitive race. Get fun with it, you’ll sell more die-casts, merch etc. It’s a shame it’s not 100% of the teams and sponsors all don’t go in on it. All JGR have zero, ZERO! I don’t buy the Truex one. Looks so close to this year’s Auto Owners scheme. Some of them are total gems! I love all four Hendrick throwbacks. And the Legacy cars look nice. Great job Eric at the New Race Hub!
I swear someone needs to tell kyle busch that throwing back to a scheme 3 weeks ago 2 times in a row is NOT a throwback.
Hard to do a good 8 throwback with Lady Earnhardt owning the trademark
@@vermillon5243 fr can't do anything with the wicked witch of the south
Look. Don't yell at Kyle for something he can't control.
Having Zone as the sponsor limits what they can do. If they had a different sponsor for this race maybe they would have done one.
He could of throwback to Himself like MTJ did

I just wish they could put the Toms logo somehow to make it completely a throwback...but I do like they put RFK in the same font style
4:40 if you played Gran Turismo in the 90s that Supra was a MONSTER
Yeah it was no joke
I get the supra, but seeing a boomer fan of Nascar, I'm not a fan.. But give me that 5 car all day!
Dude, I had the Corvette c5.r and that damned supra was my only competition
That supra was annnnnoying could only beat it with nsx and Corvette c5r
The Pratt & Miller Corvette C5.R and the TOMs Supra GT500 were like two sides of one coin in old school Gran Turismo.
My favorite throwback this year is definitely that Terry Labonte scheme I think that definitely wins throwback weekend this year
Terry Labonte throwback is my favorite
That Kaz Grala 15 car is JUICY. 10 outta 10
That Castrol throwback is 🔥🔥 my god it’s so good.
I got the poster as a bk fan. It’s so legit
The Hendrick cars are The best, The Kelloggs car, Jimmy Johnson throwback, The Dale Earnhardt Jr throwback, and the 2009 Jeff Gordon throwback! Those are some of the best
💯 TRUTH
Agreed 💯 best year to be a Hendrick fan
But can’t deny Kyle Larson’s paint scheme being the best because he’s gonna do it for Turry!
@@MegaMr46 Terry* BUT YEAH!
Chase Elliott's Hooters paint scheme
that red and white 71 is iconic
Bobby Isaac won the 1970 Cup Series title with that
there's even a NASCAR game based off that season

The five car wins hands-down. Not even close to any of the other ones in my opinion.
I love that Ambrose throwback. That Watkins Glen race with BK, Busch and Ambrose was a classic
My favourite is the Castrol one because it's a great tribute to my favourite Gran Turismo car.
My favorite is the Josh Berry one, glad to see Rodney being appreciated
Hendrick Won Throwback Weekend 100%
Dang surprised you didn't include Hailie Deegan's paint scheme the 15 Dale SR the one year he raced a ford
I thought the same thing

Hendrick's livery is so tasty. However, my take for best throwback livery has to be Keselowski's Castrol livery. So so good, especially from Gran Turismo/JGTC era
Bowman's is great and Byron's is phenomenal, but Larson takes the cake for me.
It's literally labontes car just no kellogs 😂 it's so good
@@Gator49er88 Of course it is. That's how throwbacks work.
@@Shay_Mendez ?
Points off for not getting Kellogg’s on the car though.
I love tricon throwing it back to Tanner Gray NHRA car. It actually translates so good to the truck
Hailie Deegan rocking with the Dale Sr bud moore Wangler throwback from like 1982
Man Larson my favorite driver repping my childhood favorite terry labontes livery... He better win his second championship this year this is too perfect.
on the 2009 livery for gordon the gradient changed from paintjob to paintjob as the painted just did what he thought looked good
Any Jimmie Johnson throwback automatically becomes my favorite.
There's been more 2010's throwbacks and it's making me feel old lmao
The Xfinity throw backs were so good I’d love to see a video for those! The 42, 43, 44, and 97 especially stuck out to me. But the 00, 4, 15, 18, 29, 31 were all bangers too

I do love that even tho he never won a championship, Mark Martin has a scheme represented every year in one of the series.
Stenhouse also ran a 6 Cup car prior to his full time rookie year
The Bass Pro number being different matters. If it is same number and car wrap, please make the number match too.
I swear that every time I see that Daniel Suarez throwback with that green car and that skinny white number font. My mind immediately goes to chick hicks from Disney Pixar cars.
Wow! Not one word about the best looking and by far one of the most famous drivers comes from Deegan. Check it out. Her team nailed it.
The #71 suprised me because I’d never heard of Dave Marcus. That scheme always makes me think of Bobby Isaac’s #71 Dodge Daytona
Wow BK,s Toms Supra throwback is GranTurismo nostalgia gold. Absolutely beautiful hands down the best car out there.
What never gets old? Eric talking paint schemes. The #45 is so clean!
I love Todd’s throwback. It’s kinda simple, but I love it and love the numbers.
I like the Martin Truex throwback even though it is only 8 years old it signifies his championship season .
the 9 could have added 1 detail that people would freak out about have the debris painted on the nose, the debris he picked up on the grill at the end of that race.
the brad k throwback by far my FAVORITEEEEEEEE
I don’t know why they can’t put the number in the center of the door for the throwback only
Because it's NASCAR and that would make sense 😅
I think the Castrol and kelllogs paint scheme are the best watched Nascar years and years most memorable
The fire storm Jeff Gordon scheme is my favorite 24 of them all so I’m pretty happy William is gonna run this finally 🎉
moffit with the hamilton throw back and a cole trickle number font nice
Deegans 15 is a solid effort as well.
Terry's Kellogg car was looking pretty amazing... man, I miss seeing that era of cars on the track. Good times...
I like the remembrance of the roots of NASCAR, modified, late model etc.
Mad about Penske, but they do have other things to deal with. Love the Xfinity and Trucks joining in. Great job.
I really wish they wouldn't announce them, just roll them out like Sr. did for the Winston in 95. Let it be a surprise
Lionel needs it for preorder and merch stuff. So they have to
Don’t forget about the Hailie Deegan Dale SR. Wrangler car. That one’s a banger.
Carson Horevar’s paint scheme is fire 🔥
I feel SO much nostalgia with the 6 car...brings me back to Gran Turismo.
Hendrick won cup and alpha prime won xfinity ive always loved the adrian indy car scheme when i was a kid so the suarez scheme has a 10 on nostalgia for me
I love the Brandon poole hot wheels and kyle larson Kellogg throwbacks
Favorite is the SVG, Marcos Ambrose throwback , But as a Kiwi I may be super biased 🙂
I like the Dave Marcus scheme, Bobby Issac won the 1970 Grand National championship with that number, and with Harry Hyde as crew chief . K +K Insurance was the sponsor and owner .
Larson’s is my favorite one. I have the Hendrick 4 pack preordered
“Texas” Terry Labonte’s Kellogg scheme was the best one! Especially when you consider it was beaten up by Earnhardt both times at Bristol that year!
10:56 idk for sure but it could also just be aging that yellowed out the white
The Larson 5 car is by far the best imo. They managed to make it almost look like the door number isn’t slid forward. If they were able to get Kellogg’s on board it would be all 10’s
As a HUGE Harry Gant fan, I’m definitely rooting for the 31 this weekend. I raced slot cars back in the day and always ran the Skoal Bandit theme.

You missed Hailey Deegan’s 15 car tribute to Dale Earnhardt!!! Definitely the winning scheme of the weekend!
Eric you gave basically every scheme a 9/10 on accuracy
I "think" the color on the Lee Petty 42 card is "Packard Ivory" a very off white color. It looks like they used the correct color on the door number.
I would love to see a Lake Speed throwback. He got his first win at Darlington
