I think he is the very best and I love every one of the songs on his albums - which is rare !!!1 When I heard him sing Cohen's TONIGHT WILL BE FINE - I was hooked for life
...and the same at York too, Teddy's was THE song of a cracking show. But big chops to Rufus for being brilliant & bold enough to share the stage with such a talent and being cool with it and truly supportive of his musicians. Only added to the excellence for yet another awesome Rufus show. He is just such value whatever style it is.
This so touches my heart, as others have noted. And it seems from Teddy's reaction that his performance touched a chord for him, too. I've been mesmerized by "Sing me the Songs" before seeing this performance, and look forward to watching the documentary. Always been a fan of Teddy. But now, wow. Even more respect.
The truly incredible thing about this song of course is that it languished in Warner Music Company's vaults, unreleased, for almost forty years (40!). I can think of untold hundreds and thousands of songs that should have been there in its place, while this one definitely deserved to be heard. Curiously I am not aware that Kate ever sang it in her concerts with Anna.
I completely agree it was the same in Bristol, Rufus is a good performer but Teddy's voice and solo performance was the highlight. He should be huge but for me his choice of songs on his albums at times do not do him justice.....come on TT there's a wonderful album in there somewhere!
Teddy gets better and batter ... Catch his band Poundcake -- a superlative covers band -- or Teddy himself live. Both are playing soon at the City Winery, NYC, and also City Winery, Chicago.

A lovely rendition by someone who is a marvelous singer/songwriter in his own right.
The song itself and his execution of it are a piece of art.
I’m in love! I love the song. I love the singer.
Just golden 💙
Heard this performed at the O2 in Glasgow, and the cry from the audience afterwards was "Get him back on". Quite simply superb..
It still makes me cry!

I agree - my interest in his music began with the Tonight Will Be Fine cover.

I was there and frequently view this recording to relive that fantastic night! What a show, songs and talent!!
Saw Teddy at Bristol Colston hall tonight. He nearly stole the show from Rufus W. His performance of this song was simply stunning.

They certainly did sing it together during the summer of which she sang, at Sartoga's Caffe Lena.
Shame on Warners!
