There's nothing like sailing and it looked like you were getting along nicely. One thing I used to do, when the winds weren't Ideal for sailing but moving me along slowly, is troll with a rubber worm or drag a sunfish on a hook. Landed some really nice bass doing that.
Interesting outing! A nice gust to get you home. Perfect venue for that little boat. With a little more mainsheet you could just de-power by letting the sail swing all of the way forward in those down wind landings.
Thanks for taking us along on the sail and the whit. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a duck or goose build. No leeboard or keel on the skiff? I'm confused.
You have inspired me to build a small boat suitable similar to yours. I have access to a lot of water similar to yours that I have hiked or biked around for years, and always wondered what lies around the bend where the trail ends.
Epitome of gunkholing, getting all the way up to that beaver dam, so cool watching you thread around overhanging branches. What a fun little boat. Did you have a daggerboard in or just a cover? Looked like it was super shallow and I noticed you really only sailed downwind or reaches. Do you still have the larger skiff? I’m curious if so whether you seem to be using the small skiff more because it’s easier to load and unload. I’m thinking of downsizing from a 15’ sloop dinghy for just that reason.
I have a lateen sail on one of my little boats but it is rigged in such a way as to be pulled up into a crab claw configuration, I rather like it that way.
I rather like the looks of lateen sails, but I can't say I'm a fan of trying to tack in one, the constant dousing and resetting of the sail is a bit much for me. Guess I'll just stick to gaff rigged cats boats lol
Should have called this episode "Skiffs on Plane" LOL

That's often what I do, especially on a gravel/rocky bank. If the bank is sand or mud, I may just land under full power lol
I love your adventures, watching your fun inspired me to get a small daysailer sailboat for my family. Thanks for the content and inspiration!
That's exactly the kind of thing I love to hear! I hope you all have some memorable adventures of your own.
lol. This is awesome. Killing it.
Thanks dude!

😄 You suddenly grew a nice bow wave when the wind got up!!

I love to hear that. I got started in boating much the same way. Hiking local trails, and becoming enamored with the surrounding waters.

Another great sail thanks

Interesting. I don't have much experience with either. Lateen seems practical.
