I've probably played around a hundred hours of Disney Dreamlight Valley over the last year, knowing the whole time that I'd eventually be writing this review. At no point have I been at all unhappy with what I've put into the game, and in fact I'm very excited to jump back in and see all the new stuff awaiting me with the full release and the expansion, but the late-game change to the business model of this product has left it in a strange state that's also full of bugs. If the change had happened much sooner, with enough time to properly convert this game into the "premium" product that Gameloft intends for it to be now, I think there would have been a lot more changes. But, if you're the kind of Disney fan that can look past a few oddities and inconveniences to see your favorite characters chatting it up in a cafe or hanging out with you while you tend your farm, it's got enough magic to be worth it.

Releasing a paid expansion right after early access is some ARK level bullshit. That's content that should have been part of a 1.0 release, since it was obviously made during early access.

Lying about going free to play and then turning it into a paid product while keeping all of the microtransactions is beyond scummy
Just for the record, I don't believe they were lying the entire time, mostly because I don't really know what purpose that would have even served. I think the decision was made much earlier than it was announced after player response to the moonstone shop was lacking in interest, and the team realized the game would not be able to sustain itself. I think they should have been more upfront, and I think the expansion should have been pushed by like six months just to avoid outrage.
So Gameloft and Disney, two companies known for their greed decided to pull a super greedy move on players?
Who could've seen this coming...
gameloft on the title is alrdy a reason not to buy it!

@@diegosolis9681 FR ? If you can give me some good arguments i will try it out as well i guess! But until now what i saw from it looks kinda clunky! From the movement from the characters until everything else! What makes it different to other crafting games?
@@leanbacksfinest It has a lot of content, a lot of Disney characters, the mechanics are not too grindy (for the most part), there's a lot of customization, a lot of activities which are entertaining, and it does capture that old school Disney magic.
Now, it's not Stardew Valley. But if you like Disney and like farming games it's rather good. I play it on gamepass and bought it for my niece for her steam deck.
Premium currency in a singleplayer game… Can’t wait for people to stop supporting these greedy decisions so I can start feeling respected as a consumer again. Games like Baldur’s Gate 3 should not be a once every 5 year thing where a game gets released that feels finished and isn’t filled with microtransactions. To be clear, I acknowledge that indie games exist and are much better about this. I’m primarily focused on AAA titles with this comment
Visually i keep seeing Kingdom Hearts
The Switch version is the game that crashed the most for me in any game I've ever played, ever. Pretty much every time I played it crashed, usually multiple times. Don't care how pretty it is, it's such a frustrating experience for a supposed "cozy" game. I never, ever post YT comments but I'm going out of my way to pay it forward and say avoid this hot garbage; this publisher doesn't deserve your money

@@snowenn wow. So it was available for purchase for full price for over a year and that was just early access…?
@@TheDreadedZero Yes. It was meant to be a free to play game with microtransactions, and you could play it in early access if you paid for it. But now they changed their minds and it won't be free to play, has paid DLC at release and still has microtransactions.
Everything about Disney is dark. They never knew how to make things kosher for children…🙄
