I’ve created a 5-minute “shut down” routine at work where I clean off my desk at the end of the day. The first time took much longer LOL but now I spend only 5 minutes to put everything away and leave my desk clean with just my planner on top. Then, in the morning, the first thing I do is open my planner and see what’s on the list for the day. It’s been working wonderfully since the start of the year. My plan is to start this same routine for my home office.
I will wash the dishes in the sink while my tea water is boiling in the morning. lol! I have been watching a bunch of MuchelleB and this idea of a trigger habit or a habit before the habit you want to start works pretty well for me. My bujo is in intensive care for 24 hours, the binding separated from the cover! It is now all glued up with book binding glue, we happened to actually have, and now I wait. I guess I used too much washi tape. Not that that is a thing. 😆 Have a great week! 💜
"Make it attractive" honestly worked quite literally for me. I tried the bare-bones original bullet journal method years ago because I didn't want to get overwhelmed by having to do elaborate decorative spreads. I hated the way it looked, though, so I only wrote in it a few times and stopped. Last year I had been thinking about starting a journal into which I could collect writings, art, photos, maybe some productivity stuff (but that wasn't my main focus), and pretty stickers and papers I had lying around. Honestly, Jess, your videos of simpler, faster spreads are a big part of what convinced me that I could keep up with a bullet journal, and last January I decided to try again. I started with some Tombows and pens and washi tape I already had for other purposes, bought a pretty A&O journal, and watched a ton of bujo videos. Just the act of making pages pretty to look at made a HUGE difference in my desire to use my journal. And because of that, I've been more productive, happy, mindful, motivated, and healthy this year, and I've established some good habits, all while being much kinder to myself 💜
I love that, and totally relate; I use my journal waaaay more when I like the way my pages actually look 😝💪 I appreciate how we can marry the tasks/to-dos/etc. with aesthetics to keep us motivated 😄 So glad my videos on simple and faster spreads were helpful!
I keep mine in my bathroom and I do a few minutes in the morning when I get up to start with gratitude and check a three item to do list as well as write down an affirmation and think about a meal. Then I do a couple minutes in the evening before I go to bed to do my trackers for health and self-care and write in what I ate and if I had movement and if I crossed off my to-do list. I also have other journals that I fill out throughout the week and month.
I've put off reading Atomic Habits for some reason, but seeing how incredibly close the rules I've made to help keep up with cleaning to counter depression apathy mirrors these four you're talking about...I should check it out soon! Thanks for the video 🌼
Atomic Habits needs to be my next professional reading! Thanks. And since I'm second, you might answer: what are the clear pen bins under and beside your monitor?
I fully recommend Atomic Habits! I found it to be a really useful book 💪 Those clear bins are from K-Mart 😋 www.kmart.co.nz/product/modular-drawer-organiser-medium-43024209
This was such a great helpful video! BTW can you tell us where you got the clear storage containers on your desk? the ones that fit perfectly under the riser?

I missed journalling for 7 consecutive days and trying to come back. Thank you for posting this right when I needed this.
Most welcome! I can totally understand the difficulty in getting back into it after time off 💜
How did you know this was the video I was needing?!
I might be a wizard, haha 😝💜
@@JashiiCorrin you got your Hogwarts letter?! I’m still waiting for mine
I also love Atomic Habits! I listened to the audio book though so I feel like I need a hard copy now to reread! Thanks for these tips!
i plan my next day just before going to sleep in my bed... and it works :) thx for this video

Thank you for this helpful video. Quite apart from the information and guidance, it is beautifully made - a joy to watch. Thank you
Thank you for this video. I have stopped keeping my journal for a few months, and have felt myself just floundering. I will be getting back on track!
with the beginning of new term, i was thinking to start my bujo again. this really helped as i stopped journaling because i couldn't keep up
I just started reading this! I’m a couple chapters in!
It’s one of my top 5 books for sure 👏

Most welcome, and I totally recommend that book! I'm rereading it currently 😄💜
I will journal with my first cup of coffee at the kitchen table. I will check off my habit tracker with my night meds on the couch at 9pm.
Excellent intention statements 👏💪
Seriously? I just finished this book and then I just found you today. It's fate for sure. ♥️
Haha that lined up perfectly! 😝💜
I really like your desk set up! Where can I find your monitor riser & acrylic boxes?
I will set up my journal for the day at 8am at my desk.
ALSO
I will check off my bujo at 8pm at my desk.
I like the mirroring of 8am/8pm 😄 makes it easier to remember!

I really needed this video!
Glad I could make it for you! 😄💜
I will stack the dishwasher while my toast is in the toaster. Thank you so much for this, I'm terrible at keeping up with habits.
I love racing the toaster, haha 😝💪💜
So nice this 🙏🙏🙏

Great vid, Jess. I have that book but haven’t finished it yet. Maybe I should get back to it. Have some stupid habits I want to break 😅
I've been rereading it this year; totally one of my favourites!
I stopped journaling 9 months ago after 2,5 years of consistency. Thanks for this video
Most welcome! It can be hard to get back into it after time away like that. Hope this helps! 💜
Spilling coffee on your journal makes it 'official', part of the real world.
Haha, official bujo christening 😝
Ideas for putting phone numbers and addresses in your journal please. We have lots of hospital appointments and contacts for that
Are we talking about long form journaling or journaling meaning planning?
Technically, it could work for both 😊 my primary focus is planning-style journaling, but the four sets work for building pretty much any habit 💜
Hello from British Columbia Canada

Hi Marguerite! 😄💜
I want to journal too much …. Then the housework and kids get ignored 😜
If we make the kids do the housework… 🤔😂😝
