You can be the best player and play the best and still lose. I won a satellite tournament into the main event. First hand of the main event I get 2 Queens and a Q Kcomes on the flop. A guy goes all in and I call with 3 Queens. He went all in with J-10 and I end up losing to a straight on the first hand of the main event that I was waiting 3 months to enter.
idk ur financial situation you might be orders of magnitude richer than i think (and i apologize for the unsolicited advice) but if ur just getting into online poker $300 seems a bit steep for buy-ins. I think itd do you more good practically and emotionally to multi table in the $20-$100 range. No specific bust out should ever really feel bad for one and i imagine it would fuck with you to not cash 15 $300+ tournaments in a row etc which is not that uncommon. On top of that the skill level of a $300 tournament online is probably around the $2k live level. ppl r just a lot stronger. if u had $2k in ur budget itd make more sense to play 10 $200 tournaments instead of 1 $2k. u cant do that live but live u can abuse a larger edge against a weaker pool. Thats why theres rlly stark difficulty differences
