Shaye is a classically trained prodigy. I recently saw a video of her performing a classical piano solo with a full orchestra backing her, and she looked to be only about 10 years old at the time. There is so much talent here in Tuba Skinny.
... is shaye's horn work gettin' better? it was never bad ... but lately it sounds sharper, stronger. more defined , really distinctive, assertive. Agree? ... 😕
Nope. The tuba player is killing it. Stick to playing bass notes pal and cut the flares and fills, that is the domain of the trombone and Barnabus really does not need any help with his department.
Me again. Sorry I was distracted by the tuba player. Regarding Shaye, she is just brilliant. One of the best jazz cornet players I have ever heard. She rocks.
It looks like a cornet with a flugelhorn bell, too long to be a cornet and too short to be a trumpet, maybe a Hornet or a “C” concert cornet. I’m sure she wore out the other one and can afford it.
Agree about Erika's vocals, excellent as always but could have been a bit more prominent. Don't think Greg was singing at all here. Brilliant musicianship by all but special mention to Shaye, she really is on top form here.
They're ALL extraordinary musicians but Shaye could be a stand-out. I also love to watch her play piano with TS, and violin on the Lonesome Doves. I'd really love to see how they put a song together behind the scenes. With the songs for this concert, I was practically standing on the stage with my camera and external mic and Erica & Greg's vocals were somehow behind me. If they come back to the Colony, I hope to get a better spot. My favorite recordings come from the Little Brown Church compliments of CineDevine (tip my hat to thee). They should make a live triple CD from that venue.

If you’ve been playing this stuff for 10 plus years you have to improve.
