The problem is that sometimes "Show, don't tell" that for example Crowbcat does.... does not do justice to the material he is reviewing. It's easy to point and say something is wrong. It's another thing to understand why and explain it. Knowing why matters, because maybe this limitation was out of our control, or placed there so we could have other things. Crwobcat is a bad example. This channel here is a good example of "show, don't tell".
Fight Club is an example of truly brilliant satire, that does not (on the surface) distinguish between its genuine points about society and its character's (tyler's) deeply flawed opinions. That guy at the end should sew his mouth shut. It was hard to listen to. And that woman spoiling a movie on (what looks to be) live air just because she didn't like it? Such an asshole move, and super disrespectful to anyone who worked on it
Love this style of video making. Apollo 11 (2019) did the same thing and really adds to the immersion. The inclusion of that woman spoiling the movie live was necessary to show the counter culture of the movie. I thought what Jordon Peterson said at the end was correct. The fight club is an anarchic fascist group towards the end. Also Tyler Durden is a Nietzschean shadow to Edward Norton's character. Personally that's why I thought the movie was interesting. I think Jordon can be a bit of a joke sometimes but his movie analysis are always on point.
I like how the lady said "the movie is bad" when the movie about about men's struggle in society with trauma, depression and impostor syndrome, when the other social classes don't give a shit about them. makes you think, the joke writes itself
That's Rosie O'Donnell. She eventually lost her talk show and moved onto The View, where she eventually lost that too. She was queen of the uninformed, edgy take. She was a staunch hater of gun ownership... Until one time she got a death threat and made her bodyguard get his gun permit....
Well, I would agree with her that the ending is the weakest part of the movie, makes no sense and could have been so much better. But at least the towers fall...
Rosie O'Donnell showing her non stop whiny, victim narrative, deep need to be oppressed and offended at everything. Also showing her ignorance, as she didn't understand the movie whatsoever.

Exploring how far the conspiracy went. Surely NOT a cheesy romance with Marla, this obnoxious, nihilistic, perverted, broken parasite that never helps anyone out (cancer patients, debtors), but treats the tragedies as entertainment, while the protagonists uses their suffering to release them from their pain (cancer patients get Fight Club, debtors get project Mayhem).
Rosie O'Donnell hating hating Fight Club makes me love it even more. I watched this several times a week when I was a teenager. It had a significant impact on me. Read all of Chuck's books too. Fight Club, much like other movies such as Taxi Driver, The Matrix, V for Vendetta, and Joker are litmus tests for how at ease people are with the vapidness of mainstream culture. These movies are reminders that we're in fact not alone, despite the all-too-recurrent feeling that we are.
My god I forgot how annoying she is. Spoiling the ending of a movie like that on TV..... unforgivable. You can only experience the story of Fight Club for the first time once, and she took that away from so many people.
I've always found it fascinating how a misunderstood masterpiece can turn into a cultural phenomenon... kind of like how the right knowledge can completely shift your perspective on life. That's how I felt after diving into the books from MindBloomery... it's like opening a door to a new level of understanding. It's like finding the missing pieces to a puzzle you didn't even know existed.
Let's appreciate Ed Norton for a moment. He's isn't making that many movies nowadays but from 1996-1999, he was on one of the greatest runs an actor can have. Primal Fear, The People vs Larry Flynt, Rounders, American History X and Fight Club. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for Primal Fear (Best Supporting Actor) and American History X (Best Actor) He's just underrated, amazing elite actor and he's still is till this day.

For me Fight Club does a perfect job at what OK Computer and Radiohead succeeded, making a timeless piece of art that ponders so much about our angst and rely on technology and consumerism, it’s interesting to see how this thoughts about globalization and interconnected lives would make us feel more alone, filling our void with frivolous marketing products and content devoid of any meaningful value. It’s ironic how this ideas peaked during the 90’s but it still speaks so much about the world we currently live in, things really haven’t changed, yet everything is different.
They tried to get Radiohead to do the score. Either Brad or Edward (or both) wrote Thom a letter asking him to do it and explaining why. But Thom was deeply in his post OK Computer depression and just couldn't produce. He said in an interview that after he watched the movies he went "oh". I think the dust brothers did a great job. But in an alternative universe we'd have a Radiohead scoring for Fight Club. Seeing what Jonny and Thom produced later that would have been epic.
@@myhatmygandhi6217 Funny you mention, because the whole mathematics is literally just tautology. Every single theorem is a tautology. Fermat's last theorem is no different from "people feel uncomfortable when they are uncomfortable" in any meaningful way. It is (its proof, that is) just longer.
You can use a word multiple times and change it's meaning every time through context. Not everybody will understand, but that's their problem. Not mine.
Fight club is an interesting story and very misunderstood. I’m not even sure the author of the book understands. It’s like he’s telling a joke that he doesn’t understand. The story at face value is about breaking free from the system and a celebration of masculinity and the enlightenment that can be achieved through violence. But that falls apart immediately if you interrogate the story. The men leave the “system” of oppressive rules and meaningless achievements only to join a new system that is even more oppressive, where they are literally nameless cogs working for someone else, there are even more rules and beyond just having pointless achievements, the achievements are actively killing them. The defense of masculinity in the story shows just how fragile these men and their self identity really is. Marla’s presence at the meetings highlights just how fictional these boundaries between masculine and feminine really are. And as for enlightenment, these men are no closer to enlightenment than they were at their 9-5’s. Tyler has done what every MLM/cult/conspiracy/scam does best, he identifies a legitimate grievance and sells his followers a snake oil solution. Rather than actually doing anything to make their lives or their families lives or their community any better, they give up. They surrender their identities and time and energy to Tyler and in exchange their receiver violence. Violence feel like a solution. It feels like you are really doing something. But nothing really changes
Wow great job you understood the punch line. Now go up one level and understand how everyone working on this story and film understood that punch line as well. Now more up one more level and see how dangerous idiots arere able to pick and choose lines and moments to promote the polar opposite ideas and how blatantly wrong they are, how stupid some people are for following them and now you understand this, how easy it is to pick apart those shallow arguments. Is self improvement masturbation? That depends if it is about fragile ego or holistic progression.
Watched it in a movie theater in Medford, half empty. Blew my mind, it was everything I was thinking about as 27 year old. Genius male manifesto. P.S. Jordan Peterson did not get it at all. To call it Fascist is not to know what the word means. It is about subjugation of men by corporate capitalism. It is about psychological liberation from corporate government tyrannical feudalism.

Fight club is one of those movies that just grabs ahold of you and takes you on a wild ride. I still remember watching fight club and truman show as a teenager on cable tv for the first time and just being blown away, even though much of the meaning of the movie went completely over my head. Its just so starkly different from most of what hollywood produces
@@Viacinemaa agreed JP is an egg, think that the film's masculinity is tempered by being presented through the complicated Tyler, and that a more feminist reading is possible by a critique of his character and by looking at the film's feminized labor of the soap house- domestic social reproduction as the basis of revolution
I don't like Petersons politics but its not valid to say he misinterpreted it. Its completely subjective what this movie means. The concept of "integrating your shadow" fits this movie. You can disagree with his view on masculinity, but the analogy in of itself is sound.
I think he understands it in a way. His definition of "fascism" just happens to include working men organizing themselves to overthrow their oppressors.
Today I watched this film for the first time and immediately realized that it is very difficult to surpass this. And I'm also surprised how modern and not outdated the film looks.

I remember when this film came out - it really resonated with me (not all of it, but the anti-consumerism did). And that's when we didn't have social media and the prevalence of technology we have today. As a society we fell into an even more vacuous, vapid, empty culture. Things are significantly worse today, in my opinion. Obviously not ALL the commentary and lessons of this story should be followed let alone romanticized. But there's definitely some content that I think could make us a better society - for example, moving away from image obsessed worship culture of fame and money. "You are not your wallet"...
You’re spot on. Fight Club hit a nerve back then, and now, with the rise of social media and the overwhelming focus on materialism and image, it feels even more relevant.
I gave my son the book when he was 13 and when I told him there was also a movie made from the book, he and I watched it together. I am a grandma to 9 now, I am glad I ran across this video to remind me that I need to show it to my grandsons now.

I thought "Fight Club" is a dumb, macho action movie about martial arts... Oh boy, was I wrong! I watched it when I was seriously mentally ill and in therapy and it just resonated with me like I was inside a giant gong. DEFINITELY the most important movie I ever watched. 11:40 I think Jordan Peterson is very wrong in many ways but here he is spot on! To control/develop your shadow you have to learn and accept it's existence and then tame it = become conciously dangerous. In my therapy-time I actually did some martial arts and it taught me so much about myself and actually gave me confidence and peace. I learned and I know for sure that I could and would mess someone up really bad in self-defence - but only in self defence. I made the wild animal in me my pet and my buddy. I let it out to play from time to time so it can work off it's energy and be happy. It will do it's worst to protect my loved ones and me if ever needed. Because of that I live in much less fear than before.
when i was a late teen living on my own the first time, i fell asleep to FC every night and watched it hundreds of times with all the commentary tracks. i didn't get 100% of the themes and messages right away, but boy did it hit me "like a gong" as you said. it shaped my philosophy a good bit, and i managed not to take any wrong ideas from it. later, i would find truth in those teachings of Peterson, also. i wonder what forms my shadow may have taken in life if i had not seen FC or had the attention and intention and intelligence to find it to mean something other than "form a violent cult." i was a very unhappy person but without spelling it out the movie told a story to me about the importance of purpose and connections in integrating our animal roots into a modern society in a healthy way.

6:51 The gun at the end was a blank shot and Tyler knew he would do that ofc. Tyler, or Brad Pritt is the real personality of "The Protagonist", or "The Narrator" btw. @@Ash_mz21 you can disagree as much as you wish, but it doesn't change the facts though. We saw edward norton before brad pitt. Brad pitt appeared bit by bit in his mind. That’s why you can sometimes see brad pitt appear for half a second till he personifies in the plane. I think the movie would be even greater if we saw “both protagonists” from the beginning on because that would leave room for interpretation.
@ i see your point and yea Edward Norton is the real appearance of Tyler Durden, since it's his real name as you can see multiple times in the movie on flight tickets etc. Marla even calls him TD after he asked for his name. The protagonist (Edward Norton) doesn't even have a name, so it's clear to say, this is the imaginative personality. But here we are at the real anti counter omega twist. Edward Norton is the real appearance of Tyler Durden, but he wants to look like Brad Pitt, because modern society demands it. So Edward Norton imagines to look like Brad Pitt when he gets back to his real personality. Brad Pitt looks different, but acts like the real Tyler Durden, if you understand. So both characters/ actors are both an imagination and the real person at the same time.
Watched fc 3 or 4 times when it was in the theater, I found it said many things out loud that I had never heard uttered like the cancor sore that won't go away because you can't stop tonguing it. Profound and yet simple
This was really good. I went and saw Fight Club in the theater on Halloween eve, like the 7PM showing, and was surprised at how few people were in the theater (I mean, Brad Pitt!). Fincher and co. made me feel like they saw it, too.
No he shoots right into the cerebellum or the atlas bone, but it was a blank shot, since his real personality (Tyler Durden) knew he would that. I'd suggest to search for "Fight Club: The twist that no one noticed" to get a glance of what's really going on.

@@Viacinemaa I don't know how you dug up all these clips and stitched them together. Bravo.
I'd like to see what 'hit the cutting room floor'...

The stangest feeling I've ever had after watching a film is with Fight Club. I was like 13 and I probably didn't understand all the film's shades.
@ this film is for an adult, especially early 20s.
Such an asshole move, and super disrespectful to anyone who worked on it
I agree, Fight Club is masterful satire. And spoiling a movie live? Totally out of line.
For real with jordan peterson.Furthering the stigma that men need to be hard and cold to be men. BS
That guy at the end was Jordon Peterson and yes sewing his mouth shut would be welcome. His inclusion ruined an already brilliant video.
@@ianlawton7421 I wanted to present different perspectives in this video. I hope you still enjoyed it.
Rosie completely not getting it was the best trailer Fincher could have asked for.
Unexpected moments make legends.
I like how the lady said "the movie is bad" when the movie about about men's struggle in society with trauma, depression and impostor syndrome, when the other social classes don't give a shit about them. makes you think, the joke writes itself
I think it was on purpose.
yea even if som people might not like the message of the movie, you cant say its bad in this sens, because i think most can see its not
what do you mean “the other social classes don’t give a shit about them”? Not trying to argue, i just don’t really understand what you mean.
@cholla9176 the rich don't care about the ones under them, the poor could kill eachother and the world would still spin for them
That's Rosie O'Donnell. She eventually lost her talk show and moved onto The View, where she eventually lost that too. She was queen of the uninformed, edgy take. She was a staunch hater of gun ownership... Until one time she got a death threat and made her bodyguard get his gun permit....

Let's appreciate Ed Norton for a moment. He's isn't making that many movies nowadays but from 1996-1999, he was on one of the greatest runs an actor can have. Primal Fear, The People vs Larry Flynt, Rounders, American History X and Fight Club. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for Primal Fear (Best Supporting Actor) and American History X (Best Actor)
He's just underrated, amazing elite actor and he's still is till this day.

Kee-rect!
It refers to Friedrich Nietzsche a famous thinker.
Universal production.
The funny "day time TV presenters" not getting it applies to both.
I’m a woman but I love this movie, I watch it every now and again to remind me not to give in to consumerism

I like to think Ed Norton's character sees that at the end when he's trying to stop the attack
very well said
maybee i understand it wrong but isnt the great thing not the violence but bringing down the system that brakes people life joy
How can the author, Genius Chuck Palahniuk, not understand the meaning of his own story, that he entirely created ? This is ludicrous 😂😂😂

That's exactly what I wanted to do.

I went and saw Fight Club in the theater on Halloween eve, like the 7PM showing, and was surprised at how few people were in the theater (I mean, Brad Pitt!). It felt so real, brutally real, more honest than any other film I'd ever seen. Our world was, even then, bleak AF, and it's only gotten more so...exponentially. Fincher and co. made me feel like they saw it, too.
I'm sure that's unforgettable feeling .

@@chamonix4658 please watch the scene again. even if he shot his cheek, there would be a bleeding hole in it. and he clearly didn't shoot in this direction. it was right into the throat, directed at the atlas bone. there's no one able to survive or going out uninjured of such a hit, unless it's a blank shot.
edit: btw i remember the scene with the shots on the van and you're correct, those were real bullets. there were plenty of times when his personality switched, as well as the control over the firearm. he simply switched the mag, or the bullets. like he did with the brains of a hoard of young men, following a schizophrenic maniac. not that hard to comprehend under these circumstances i'd say.
*7:00* very rich coming from the woman who went full "reta*d" 🤣🤣🤣
XD
Good production quality, good watch. Bravo.
Thanks!

This was really well done. Nice work. Pulling in the reaction to its release was something I’ve never seen before. Very cool
It’s fitting that it didn’t get any awards because you don’t need material things to tell you how good you are!
Of course!
and there was no oscar buzz because no one was allowed to talk about it
Don't upscale the fps on movie pieces please, it feels so unnatural
Thank you for your advice!
This was a very pleasant watch and I enjoyed your editing choices, Hope to see you post more!
Thank you!
6:27 man Rosie is annoying. i really dont understand this perspective. "i dont like it so nobody should like it"....i wonder if she feels stupid now that its pretty much become a classic movie that is highly praised
XDDD
0:28 but, we twist it a bit. 😅
