      @StamfordBridge 11 месяцев назад +1

      The amazing thing is that no one invests that kind of money blindly. Clearly, a lot of smart people came together and made this cost-benefit analysis and chose that price point. What that rationale was I cannot begin to fathom and I’ll forever be curious, but there had to have been a rationale. I would love to have a private conversation with someone involved in that decision-making. Common sense says that $6000 for two nights at a family-themed experience can never work. So what were they thinking? I’d love to know.

      2.5 days of full immersion doesn't seem that appealing to me, I'd rather do the quick tour. No doubt there are quite a few that would like it, but little overlap with the rich.

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 11 месяцев назад

      @StamfordBridge Disney was probably hoping Starcruiser would drive up DVC sales, even if it operated at a loss itself. Seems not enough DVC members were willing to trade points for this 2-night experience to justify it, though.
      Another possibility is the contrast principle - a $3,000/night Star Wars immersive resort is going to go extremely viral for its insane price tag. Very few people will buy it, but it's going to make every other Deluxe Resort look laughably cheap by comparison. (Cosco uses the same idea by putting $2000 TVs at the entrance of their stores.) Starcruiser may very well have driven up bookings at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or - closer to DHS - Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club.

I feel the biggest announcement from the merger will be a passport for all parks in 2025.

    Taylor is right, Disney is so clueless, Universal will have 4 parks open in Europe before Disney opens a new churro stand.
    The Starcruiser failed because no Star Wars fan would pay that much to meet Rey and Kilo.

  • @chrislaustin
    @chrislaustin 11 месяцев назад +1

    If you guys didn't see the Galactic Star Cruiser closing, you must have been the only ones, as the second it opened with that business model, it had a limited amount of time(once fans willing to pay that amount ran out). Of course the expense was a HUGE factor, but it had very little reason to ever do it more than once, and there in lied the problem. Once the diehard fans of the Disney SW IP were done, who else was going to bother? As stated, most average consumers would have spent that amount of money any number of places that wasn't Disney and not the SW most didn't care for to begin with.
    A SW themed restaurant like a "Tony & Tina's Wedding" were people ate, and had a show that you could interact with while dining would have made way more sense. So is this the end of projects like this? Maybe not, but this was for sure the blueprint on what not to do, and hopefully some one thinks this through better than Disney and gets it right in the future.

  • @ninjagirl226
    @ninjagirl226 11 месяцев назад +1

    Comment on the Star Was hotel. I followed this thing from the beginning and everyone knew it was doomed to fail; we just didn’t know when.
    It was too expensive to operate for one with very little capacity. It was also a one and done experience because the adventure was always the same despite promises of more. You also have some people saying it’s cause the sequel trilogy just isn’t popular. The ship also didn’t look Star Wars and the in-app game stuff is kind of stupid.
    I think there is demand for this but it needs to be more like a traditional hotel and not a cruise I think. I also think Harry Potter would work better in general because Universal has a template with the wands and wizarding world parks. Also because it would be a school setting there is a narrative there.
    I hope this makes sense.

The combined yearly profit of Cedar Flags is just barely more than what the Universal parks earn in 3 months. It's ultimately about getting both companies' debts under control and restructured. That means coaster investments will be tempered - likely an average of 4 per year for the combined chain. Beyond that, I don't expect any significant rebranding or changes in strategy. The biggest parks will continue to get the most investment, and the smallest parks will get a new family-thrill coaster every decade. Not the worst possible situation.

      @@urbex_coasters You can spend your money on what u want i dont really care, but I feel like while alpine coasters may count as credits, they aren't really like actual roller coasters. Most alpine coasters, you can kind of control your speed, making it rely less on gravity (Which is one thing I would say makes a roller coaster a roller coaster), second thing, NO MATTER WHAT if you search up tallest roller coaster in the world (unless you search up tallest ALPINE coaster), you would get Kingda Ka, or soon to be Falcons flight, meaning that Alpine coasters aren't counted as ROLLER COASTERS to people. Plus, Alpine coasters don't have as tall drops as actual roller coasters. They usually are a few feet.

    I think the Cedar Fair and Six Flags merger is probably the biggest announcement in the theme park industry since Walt announced the Florida Project. Maybe since Walt announced that he was building a park in Anaheim.

    $6,000 for a cringy Star Wars storyline that no one cares about. Can’t believe it lasted as long as it did.

    The SF/CF wasn't just the biggest story of 2023, it was the biggest story that shocked the theme park community as it happened out of nowhere

    Lets hope universal buys port aventura. I hate that park not because the park is bad but the policy and operation make me puke.

    Bro are you ripping off of airtime thrills? He’s been doing what ur title is describing for the past 3 years. This channel used to be purely original.

      We did not copy airtime thrills, we just happened to have a similar idea we wanted to make a video on. We came up with it purely on our own way before we knew airtime thrills did a similar video.

      @@CoasterStudios Fair enough. We do hold the largest subscribed coaster youtuber to a higher standard than the rest to be honest. Just seems very very similar, especially the title.
