From a storytelling perspective, I don’t see how this would qualify as a double turn. Punk is clearly the face here. Drew tore Punk’s triceps, mocked him for it saying he “prayed” for it to happen, and that attacked his injured arm after he made a speech announcing that he would miss WrestleMania. Drew mocked him relentlessly for the months leading up to Wrestlemania, then he wins the WHC at Mania (originally Punk’s match) and then instead of celebrating with his wife, he allows his obsession with Punk to consume him, causing him to be embarrassed by Punk & Priest. From a narrative standpoint, Punk is completely justified for wanting to cost Drew continuously. In any event, the story is fantastic.
I think this is gonna be one of those feuds where it’s all about perspective and which side you fall on as a individual. There’s not gonna be a true heel or babyface after awhile because both sides are starting to behave and do stuff to one another out of spite and absolute pettiness that it kinda just exist in that grey area. I fall more on the side that Punk is still the babyface because Drew did cause this situation and only added fuel to the fire by egging it on.
There is no true babyface or heel in this story they’re telling w/ Punk and Drew. They both come across as petty assholes who *HATE* each other and have their own reasons for doing so. And it’s just a matter of who you think is justified.

That stipulation came too soon. Honestly, I would've made Styles vs. Rhodes a trilogy, which would conclude at MITB next month. If I were booking things, I would've had the first match at Backlash end in a draw, to protect both men. Then, you book Logan and Cody in Saudi, and then do the retirement angle on SmackDown, leading to a rematch where AJ would cheat to win the title, putting Cody back in pursuit of the belt. Then, Cody vs. AJ at MITB in an I Quit match, where Cody ultimately regains the title. Hell, I would've even done a TV match where AJ gets himself disqualified at MSG, to get more heat before the announcement of the I Quit match. I really don't want to see Solo anywhere near the title picture, especially when you have enough material for one more match with AJ.

I see the character of Solo Sikoa as the inmate that is now running the asylum. Roman ran a tight ship with his wise man PH. Whereas Solo acts a little unhinged and is out for blood. For me to believe this more i need to hear him talk. A lot more. I think from NXT he may well be capable but WWE need to do more with him. This is why I don't think its fair or right to put him in a title match with Cody anytime soon.
The women's triple-threat match was a big mess after Jade Cargill's tag. If Jade kept botching her in-ring work, then she don't deserve to be on top. She never care to put more effort in her in-ring ability. All she cared is about the money, fame, and looking pretty for the cameras. I felt AEW used Jade correctly and safe than WWE. She left AEW because she knows she can't cut the mustard, and run with AEW where the best wrestle is.
With ticket prices the way they are and with us in the UK always being overcharged for everything, if we do get Wrestlemania here then it'll be out of the price reach of the majority of UK fans! I can see the cheapest seats being £500 each before fees.

They showed a picture of Orton staring at the title on Cody's Arm after saving him from the bloodline. So that can set up MITB with Cody KO and Orton vs. the Bloodline (bloodline should win and have solo pin KO), and then they from there can set up Cody vs. Orton at Summerslam. Or they can go Cody vs. Solo, too. And then you have Priest vs. Gunther for the WHC. But i dont know where they go with Jade (she needs a lot of work) and Bianca. They can do Jade vs. Shayna Bazsler (due to Jade tapping out to Bazsler chokehold). Have Shayna play it up. And Jade can beat Shayna at MITB. Then you have Bayley vs. Nia Jax for the WWE womens title.

So summer slam we can get Cody Rhodes versus Solo, Kevin Owens versus Randy Orton. Jey uso wins money in the bank. He cashes in on solo after solo wins the WWE championship at Summer slam the bloodline attack. Jay leading to Roman reigns, returning with Jimmy Uso. Then we can start the bill to survivor series for wargames and up to that we can get Hikuleo and then Jacob Fatu.
Jade botching is the most interesting thing that's happened with her so far. They can use this as a catalyst for a heel turn. Where the harsh reality that she's not as good as she thinks she is sets in.

A smart booker absolutely has Punk win the feud and keeps him strong so that those programs have credibility going forward. I thought the main event was the right result purely because Gunther has his shot at summerslam. It doesn’t really make any sense for Drew to go against Gunther when he’s feuding with Punk. If Gunther wasn’t the number 1 contender, then a situation where punk accidentally gives Drew the advantage to win the belt would be great.

They showed a picture of Orton staring at the title on Cody's Arm after saving him from the bloodline. So that can set up MITB with Cody KO and Orton vs. the Bloodline (bloodline should win and have solo pin KO), and then they from there can set up Cody vs. Orton at Summerslam. Or they can go Cody vs. Solo, too. And then you have Priest vs. Gunther for the WHC. But i dont know where they go with Jade (she needs a lot of work) and Bianca. They can do Jade vs. Shayna Bazsler (due to Jade tapping out to Bazsler chokehold). Have Shayna play it up. And Jade can beat Shayna at MITB. Then you have Bayley vs. Nia Jax for the WWE womens title.
If these botches with Jade Cargill keep happening then she really needs to be sent to NXT. This was the second PLE in a row she’s made a big botch.

Honestly, I think we should save Roman reigns his return until summer slam. I think we get the six man tag money in the bank with the bloodline winning Orton abandons Cody Rhodes by RKO Kevin Owens. So summer slam we can get Cody Rhodes versus Solo, Kevin Owens versus Randy Orton. Jey uso wins money in the bank. He cashes in on solo after solo wins the WWE championship at Summer slam the bloodline attack. Jay leading to Roman reigns, returning with Jimmy Uso. Then we can start the bill to survivor series for wargames and up to that we can get Hikuleo and then Jacob Fatu.
Jade botching is the most interesting thing that's happened with her so far. They can use this as a catalyst for a heel turn. Where the harsh reality that she's not as good as she thinks she is sets in.

Punk/Seth, Punk/Cody, Punk/Roman, Punk/Rock if Rock is willing to do it (I suspect he retires after Roman, though). Nobody cares about Mcintyre vs any of those guys, plus we've seen it. A smart booker absolutely has Punk win the feud and keeps him strong so that those programs have credibility going forward. You don't have Mcintyre end the feud with CM Punk on top, that's promotional malpractice.

I thought the main event was the right result purely because Gunther has his shot at summerslam. It doesn’t really make any sense for Drew to go against Gunther when he’s feuding with Punk.
If Gunther wasn’t the number 1 contender, then a situation where punk accidentally gives Drew the advantage to win the belt would be great.
As much as I wanna see Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes at Summerslam. I feel like it could be a mistake on WWE's part. It's going to be difficult to get fans to boo Randy Orton. He's reached legend status where nobody wants to boo him. WWE runs the risk of fans turning on Cody and cheering for Randy.

So for me, Punk beats Drew at Summerslam. He has said as long as he lives, Drew will never be champion. At some point get that belt on Punk, him and Drew at Mania.
Cm punk screwing over drew has always made sense and storyline wise I’m on punks side. Drew has been acting like a whinny brat for months and beefing with punk over his own mistakes. Drew keeps being up the past and how punk didn’t mentor him and take him under his wing which sounds like drew not taking responsibility for his own actions and what got him fired. Plus just because your going back to your home country that doesn’t change that your a heel, drew thinks that he’s the hero when he’s not and he keeps poking at punk who doesn’t care about him and now he has punks attention and all the petty BS that comes with it
So because he keeps poking at Punk. That justifies Punk flying to another country and costing him the title .... ?

Let me first say I don't dislike the ending to the WHC match, nor do I dislike Gunther.
But I'd be lying if I said I have this great interest to see Gunther as WHC right now. When you honestly have a lot more interesting options to go with. A Priest and Finn feud, for example.
I just don't have the interest to sit through yet another long, drawn out heel championship reign. Where Gunther just talks about purity and smirks all the time. When that shit just ended else than 3 months ago.
So I do kinda wish they'd do literally anything else that just bide time until putting the title on him. And just rinse and repeat the IC title reign with the WHC.
