I'm 17 & my parents have been getting on me for ages about how " Lem te l'age ou, m te déjà kon fe manje" & your RUclips page has helped me tremendously! Thank you so much!
My husband is Haitian and I grew up eating traditional mac and cheese in the U.S. I have been making yours for a couple years now. This is by far the best mac and cheese I have ever eaten! My whole family looks forward to eating it on special occasions. We love love love it! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Haha! My mom is always giving me hell and calling me paresez because I don't know how to cook Haitian food. I'm totally going to surprise her with this. Thanks!
Traditional Haitian macaroni au gratin has Edam cheese, which is Tete de Maure. It is actually very similar to gouda cheese in flavor and is also Dutch. So your cousin was right. :-)
I've subscribed to your channel as I'm a Jamaican-American aunt to a Haitian background child who in addition cooking Jamaican food, I learn how to cook Haitian food as well.
Your the best girl. My parents are from Haiti but I was born in the virgin islands and grow up here in the states. I grew up on Haitian food and always loved it. But when it came down to learning how to cook from my mom, was a hassle. Lol! I picked up a lot from her tho. I cook Haitian food sometimes but now I'm going to cook more often because I love your recipes. I'm going to try this recipe tomorrow . Keep up the good work. I'm going to be looking out for that legume video. Thumbs Up all the way. :)
OMG! this was soooo good. im a Haitian American born here and i grew up eating this during the holidays and special occasions but i was never taught how to make it. but i took a chance and tried your recipe and it came out BOMB! Thanks soo much!

Yes hun, he hasn't put the song out as of yet. He does have another song out called "Take It All" you can search on King Frantz on RUclips or soundcloud and you'll find it. In the mean time I'm gonna put pressure on him about releasing "My Wife" 😊
Not a problem, legume is coming soon, not so sure about bouyon just yet and I posted a video for soup joumou last month, subscribe to the channel to keep up with new post. Thanks for watching 😊
+Bercline Milcent some people use flour to make a béchamel sauce, everyone has their own way of making it. I've had it several several different ways and I usually like them all. Me personally I skip the flour.
Growing up, my mom made it with parmesan only. I'm not sure if there was a different type of cheese used besides that one. To tell you the truth I feel like once is has mayonnaise on it, it will have that makawoni au graten taste no matter what cheese you put on it cause sometimes I don't use gouda and I make it with cheddar.
Awwww sorry hun (for this late response, I'm just seeing your comment). Gouda gives it a special taste but sharp cheddar also works when I can't find Gouda.
Kerby Stlouis thats not necessarily true there are different ways of making it . people started using mayo as a substitute. Many Haitians would put eggs or egg whites to the cheese and evaporated milk to give it a thick consistancy.
J P Hi all recipes are always on my site... here is the exact link. It’s also in the description box. loveforhaitianfood.com/makawoni-au-graten-haitian-macaroni-and/

You're awesome, glad it worked out for you!!! Thanks much!!!
We do use Gouda Cheese (Tête de Moine) in Haiti, which is a cheese from Switzerland.
+Marajustright Good to know, thanks for the info!
+Marajustright I think you mean Tete-de-Maure* ( or edam cheese, from Netherlands) . That's the cheese we usually use in Haiti.
+Jessica Thomas yes, thank you the correction.
I love Haitian food...and this dish is one of my faves. Will try my hand at this recipe.

Hey I have been cooking your recipe since I fell upon it. However I'm just noticing your pan. Where did you get it from please?
can you write all the list of the I should buy to make the macaroni gratinee
Can please make more videos on Hatians food
What kind of Gouda are you using? Smoked? Regular?
what's the name of the song playing?.....nice video
Is there a certain amount of mayo to add? What kind of season salt was that ?
Btw! I've been looking for the song "My Wife" by King Frantz, I can't find it anywhere:-( Are u sure that is the artist?
Yes hun, he hasn't put the song out as of yet. He does have another song out called "Take It All" you can search on King Frantz on RUclips or soundcloud and you'll find it. In the mean time I'm gonna put pressure on him about releasing "My Wife" 😊
Big upz to ur channel
Aldi Supermarket actually sells Gouda cheese. Which flavor you recommend sweet regular or smoked?
Fritz J I usually get smoked and recently started using a creamy version. I get it from Trader Joe’s and grate it. Hope that helps.
Can you make a recipe for griot please
I will definitely be making that, it is on my list of things to do. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! CAN U DO A VIDEO ON LEGUME, BOUYON, AND SOUP JOUMOU PLEASE?!! 🙌✊👌
Not a problem, legume is coming soon, not so sure about bouyon just yet and I posted a video for soup joumou last month, subscribe to the channel to keep up with new post. Thanks for watching 😊
THANK YOU!!! 👌🙌🙌🙌🙌😍
can you make haitian spaghetti with aranso??
anne nedjine yes yes and yes, definitely coming up soon
How do I know how much ingredients to add as far as the measurements ?
So you don't cover it with aluminum foil when you put it in the oven?
Charles Joseph you know lately I’ve been covering it and I take off the foil and leave it for another 10-15 minutes so the top can Brown a little.
@@LoveForHaitianFood okay thank you!
if I wanted to add ham should I drop it in when I throw in the onions and stuff?
foredimples529 yes
Gouda is the closest cheese to Fromage Tete de maure. they are made in same country and have very similar taste
Beautiful hair
Anyone know where I can find the measurements for this recipe??? The website is currently under construction!
There are no recipes on your website
I've been looking for this recipe for the longest...Why do others put flour in their dish while making a cheese sauce?
Every Haitian makes it different Hun
+Bercline Milcent some people use flour to make a béchamel sauce, everyone has their own way of making it. I've had it several several different ways and I usually like them all. Me personally I skip the flour.
Instead of using Gouda, could you substitute with gruyère cheese?
Taste wise I don't see why not, I'm just not familiar with it so I don't know if it will melt well. Please let me know if you try it.
Hi how are you? Where did you buy the gouda chesse please
You can get that cheese from publix deli
Lol thanks I had brought it at the farmers market it was delicious
you should make legume
Hi manie i miss ur videos
What cheese is traditionally used? I use swiss...

Mayo? Ive never known any haitian to do that, only carnation milk is what Ive seen used
Yep mayo, that's how I saw it made growing up.
I've never seen Mayo used either.. actually seen more people use a little bit of mustard instead
Sandra St Jean what!!! if there is no mayo its not hsitian mac and cheese ! lol
Kerby Stlouis thats not necessarily true there are different ways of making it . people started using mayo as a substitute. Many Haitians would put eggs or egg whites to the cheese and evaporated milk to give it a thick consistancy.
Where is the recipe? Need measurements!!
