My mom passed away from dementia in February. She held on for so long while her body deteriorated. She was waiting for my brother tell her he'd be okay. She passed away that same weekend. This song is a heartbreaking work of beauty.
You're tired now, lie down
I'll be waitin' to give you the good news
It might take patience
And when you wake up, it won't be over
So don't you give up
We've got the time to take the world
And make it better than it ever was
That's what they'll say about us
If I say a cliche, it's 'cause I mean it
We can't walk away, we gotta get in between it
And when you wake up, we'll grow together

I think this song also represents a situation of an unfortunate pregnancy. The husband is singing this song for his wife who's trying her best to give a healthy birth at the cost of her life. But in the end, she closes her eyes permanently. Husband is saying,
"And if you don't wake up
I'll know you tried to
I wish you could see him
He looks just like you"
for the son she gave birth to. 😭❤

Finneas:
"I wrote this song in June after spending the day at a protest in Downtown LA, filled with hope with the prospect that millions of people were coming together from all over the world to fight against institutionalized racism and inequality. During that time, I’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. Imagining her sitting by his side, waiting, hopeful for him to wake up, it got me thinking about all the millions of people, all over the world, who also have loved ones, parents, children and extended family members going through the same thing. Fighting this horrific virus. Some will over-come and wake up again, while others, tragically may not. This song is dedicated to all who have had to endure this year. I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it."

Finneas is such an insanely underappreciated artist. His music speaks to the heart in such a real and specific way. Even the stuff he makes with other artists brings their music to a whole new depth.
yeah, why does he have 1/50th the subscribers of his sister??
Am I going crazy, or is he singing to his wife in coma?? And singing about how she shouldn't give up and stay strong and that he's praying about her waking up. Also about being an only parent?? I'm not one to go public with my feelings, but... Last week, my son, whom I have never met, wished me a Happy Father's Day and opened his Facebook; he looks just like me (37yo). I have no words. I stumbled onto this FINNEAS video, wondering how I missed it from three years ago. In this song, I see myself trying to tell my younger self it is okay at the same time, telling my son we will live this life to the fullest. He wants me in his life, and I'm so excited and scared. I can't get through this song without breaking down as I hear something new each time. I'm in my 50s. I wish I had been in touch with my emotions at the FINNEAS age. What an incredible artist.

This song was inspired by the BLM protests and also by Nick Cordero and Amanda Kloots. Nick Cordero died July 5th of complications from Covid-19. He was a healthy 41 year old broadway actor with no underlying health issues. He battled the virus for 95 days, but ultimately it got the best of him. The ending of the song..when he says
“And if you..don’t wake up

His songs are so beautifully written. A truly talented man that deserves way more attention.
he is so underrated and I hate that people usually only think of him as just "Billie's brother." he definitely deserves way more recognition for his talent.
Delaney Myers at this point comments like yours are so repetitive and annoying. Just let him be. He’s fine with being her brother, and tbh I see more people saying that “it’s not ok to call him her brother” then people saying he is only her brother.

This is about Nick Cordero, his wife Amanda, his baby son Elvis... who looks just like him. What ripping heartbreak. What a glorious song about a strong Broadway star dead from Covid far too young. And when the rain pours, tears drown 😭😭😭
Nick Cordero, rest easy and know you are a shining star inspiring so many great artists still sparkling here. Amanda and Elvis are riding the wake of what you are still creating, speaking through great artists like Finneas 🌈
For those who don't know the story, Nick was in a coma and suffered about three months in ICU. Amanda held daily rally times with the hashtag #WakeUpNick. He did finally wake but never spoke, couldn't move, his athletic strong body ravaged by the virus. He fought hard but lost the battle in July.
Really..... how sad is that.....
How do you know that Finneas wrote this song about him?
Y.M. Raja Nor Aishah Binti Almarhum Raja Muda Musa he said it in an interview :)

his songs are perfect for emotionalists. truthfully dismaying but beatifully soothing lyrics. he never tried so hard to make his voice uncontrollably powerful, a composer and singer but also an extraordinary story teller with his songs

This song reminds me of my husband. He died in 2011. He was in a coma for 17 years. Due to a car accident. I was pregnant with our😥 second daughter at the time. He never met her.
Your songs touch my heart. They are great !!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I wish you could see her. She looks just like you.♥️
Sorry for your loss Heidi, I bet you're the best Mum.
Thank you for your touching words!😊
❤
I am sorry Heidi. Hugs to you and your children.
heidi, this song is about someone like u. stay strong 🥺💞✨
For those that haven’t come across the background, the song is written from the perspective of Amanda Kloots about her husband Nick Cordero, who died after a long battle with COVID-19.
Thx, I was wondering.
Just when you thought it could never be more beautiful.
😭💔
If you read into it the main theme is actually BLM
Lucy Sadowski BLM theme is definitely part of it
The rise up to "that's what they'll say about us" WAS SO FUCKING DELICIOUS
LoL yep stealing that swagger bro
Lyrics:
You're tired now lie down
I'll be waitin'
To give you the good news
It might take patience
And when you wake up
It won't be over
So don't you give up
We've got the time to take the world and make it better than it ever was
That's what they'll say about us
If I say a cliche
It's cause I mean it
We can't walk away
We gotta get in between it
And when you wake up
We'll grow together
So don't you give up
We've got the time to take the world and make it better than it ever was
That's what they'll say about us
I never said it would be easy
I'm never giving up, believe me
I used to think the pain would fade, but it never does
You're tired now lie down
I'll be waitin'
To give you the good news
It might take patience
And if don't wake up
I'll know you tried to
I wish you could see him
He looks just like you

Realized how much this song and his voice gives Coldplay vibes
For anyone wondering about the last line, here’s what Finnes said “The emotional track was also inspired by Cordero, who died earlier this year after complications of the coronavirus. Finneas explained, “The other component of the song was [that] I was very closely following Nick Cordero’s story on Instagram, via his wife [Amanda Kloots], and Nick and his wife were not people I’d ever met. I don’t know them at all. I saw the headlines about his health, just like everybody else did. I just became incredibly attached to this family that I’d never met before. I kind of wrote this song as if you were singing to your loved one who was in a hospital bed while the world was protesting outside. I did make a point to keep the song fairly ambiguous because I know everybody’s sort of going through different circumstances of the same things right now.” 💫
Sarah Ng Thank you for telling us that. It adds a different dimension to the song....very sweet but also terribly sad.

Wow that last line depressed me to a whole new level.
Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day!" 💖💖💖💖

so does it mean it's killing itself after this
In an interview FINNEAS himself has said that he’s proud to be called Billie’s brother.
In fact, I believe he said something along the lines of that he never wanted to be more than Billie’s brother.
So if you call him Billie’s brother or FINNEAS, it’s still him.
They have a great relationship and in a sense her successes are his successes because he’s more than just a singer.
He’s a humble and charming guy.
Let’s just listen and appreciate his music and not be concerned about comparisons, titles, and whatnot.
Pretty please.
❤️
Well said! Plus, we all love both Billie and Finneas, because you really can't have one without the other. Even if Billie doesn't sing in one of his songs, you know they are so close that she influences it in some way. In fact, the family is so close that I'm sure Mom and Dad are there in spirit too. I love this family so much.
This makes me cry. Finneas is a beautiful human being. He IS billie's brother and AN AWESOME musician. period
aww thats actually cool tho i mean how he takes it because if someone called me like that i’d be pissed. So humble with that talent!
WELL SAID!!! 😁😉
I lost my mother almost two years ago now to aggressive brain cancer; shortly after her death my first child was born. I don’t know how I never heard this song before but it really resonated with me especially the very end. Ushering my mother out of existence and welcoming my child into it. “And if you don’t wake up, I’ll know you tried to, I wish you could see him, he looks just like you” just resonated so deeply. Thank you for this song.
" I use to think that pain will fade but it never does" when u think about it, we just learn to cope with it but we never went past the pain.
" During that time, I’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. Woah
so obsessed. you are a genius Finneas
I'm so damn obsessed too
ME TOO
;-;
I like how that rhymes
Hi! B
I’m a nurse and covid deaths have me feeling so jaded after all this time.. so many unnecessary, unexpected, deaths. Some came quickly, some came slowly. Some begged for the vaccine or a new treatment before being vented and you had to be honest and let them know that there was nothing else to do, and that things really might not be okay.. but encouraged them that it could be and that you’d keep fighting for them. I talk to people on vents / those that are unconscious (or even deceased) like I talk to people who are awake. I like to think that if they do hear me, they’ll have some hope. Unfortunately so many people lost hope being in a hospital alone. Some refused to be vented at all knowing they wouldn’t live through it; most begged for their families and we had to tell them that we could only assist them in calling or FaceTiming them in their last moments due to covid protocols. This also went for people in the hospital dying from something other than covid; protocols were all the same. These people died not alone since the hospital staff cared more than I can ever express, but without family and people they know and love. All of the support came from staff. And many tears did too.
Do you know how it feels to carry the burden of so many last words? Last hand holds? Last breaths?
I love nursing, I love taking care of people, but it’s been so traumatic the past few years, that I’m considering switching careers or at least leaving bedside.
People are still dying. Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, children, friends, coworkers.. too many lost when there are ways to prevent it.
Thank a healthcare worker next time you see them and remember to keep doing your part. Everyone deserves a fair chance at life.
Thank you 🙏
Thank you
And the cruelest part for patient and family was being separated while dying and at death. Inhumane.
This sounds like "i love you" by Billie. Wow... This song is so nice.

Why do the lyrics look like, about a perfect and best Husband whose wife is going to birth a boy, and in the end, the mother would die without seeing her son, but the whole song is EMOTIONAL but it hurts that way too much...
