Stay With Me - Shirley Brown - 1974

Originally recorded by Lorraine Ellison in 1967, Stay With Me, was a spectacular performance by Ms. Ellison that stands the test of time. If that song was going to be covered, it had to be covered by a singer with the vocal chops to do the song justice. If it wasn't going to be Aretha, the next best female vocal talent to tackle, Stay With Me, was certainly Shirley Brown. Brown included the song on her 1974 album, titled, Woman To Woman, which was released on Stax's subsidiary label, Truth. Shirley absolutely nails it!
