I really don’t think this game was that ugly. Bad start, yes, but the Bills came back with some good solid work on offense and defense. Remember, the team had an exhausting game against the Lions that they are still worn down from, with lots of players missing. Throw in the divisional rival aspect and the Bills wanting to save their true strength for better teams in the playoffs and it makes sense that this game was close, and that’s good. Stats were reset, players got reps, and the bills won the game. We saw what the boys can do last week, and it’ll be all good!
Why do the bills stop giving cook the rock in the 4th quarter of damn near every game???? Give that man the carries he deserves already. He’s a home run waiting to happen on every touch.
I never once felt concerned. The Bills never looked like they were in a losing situation, and were holding a lot back in a game where they were still exhausted from a TOUGH Lions game. Most teams go on to lose their next game after playing the Lioms, and if the Bills had needed to, they would’ve put up another 20 points.
Maye definitely looked competent, but also Mac Jones was a pro bowler and then .... So I'll reserve judgement on Maye for now while acknowledging he has been playing very well for a rookie QB.
Let's just face it. This was the Patriots Superbowl! Nothing to lose and keep your job attitude. Would have made their season to knock off the Bills! No love lost with division teams and they do know each other. Unfortunately they still have Jets and Patriots games left. In that weather, this win is great. Half of our defense is missing. Come on man!!!Hang tight. Go Bills! Mac
If you have watched over the years, you know that you can throw out the records when it comes to division games.Just find a way to win.As for the seeding,we will know if we are alive for the #1 around the time for Christmas dinner. The Steelers need to win to stay in first in their division.I like their chances to make it to week #18 to determine the #1 seed.
Once again McDermott proves he is unprepared. This close to a team with only 3 wins. Once again Josh saves the game and save McDermotts job. This is getting old. One of these games Josh is going down and not getting up.
“Funnybone” is striking the superficial portion of the ulnar nerve at the elbow. When you strike a nerve in sub zero temps, they take longer to recover (hours vs minutes)
Might be time to stop deferring if they win the toss. Other teams have come right out and said "our game plan is to keep Josh off the field", so they eat clock. Which they can do because the defense can't make a stop to save their lives.
Good take but I still disagree. Deferring gives you a chance to “double dip”. Taking the ball, sure, gives you the chance to take the early lead. However scoring to end the first half knowing you’re getting the 2nd half kickoff is always the best scenario.
We differed to the rams and they kept the ball, pats did the same we actually haven’t been able to defer some games. McDermott is always going to go with the double dip it’s our defense job to get off the field on 3rd down plain and simple but not bad take.
Buffalo beat KC then considered the best team in the league then beat two teams that have recently been to a Super Bowl in the 49ers and Rams then beat the Lions who at the time were considered the best team in the league. After a month like that it’s not surprising the Bills have a letdown game against a weak opponent. The important thing is getting healthy for the playoffs. Go Bills!
Intensions equal results. The team is tired, nicked up, and maybe a little burned out from the pressure. They were hoping for an easy win but faced a divisional team that was looking to make a grand exit from the '24 season.
Bills recent struggles versus a bad Patriots team continued yesterday. Division games are always tricky, but theres something about playing them that the Bills can't get it together. I'm happy for the win. Go Bills.
It doesn't have to be a substantial hit on that nerve it just has to be in the right spot because it pops in and out of its space where it sits in the elbow .
Welcome back to the studio, Dan. Question for Jenna and Mike: Does Dan's old ball cap smell like it looks? I think the Pats did a better job than most opponents this year in actually limiting Josh outside the pocket. For some reason, that cr^p team had the player and/or scheme to effectively spy him. His getaways simply did not happen.
The defense is super concerning, and it has been. Forget about Milano- he can’t, and won’t, ever stay healthy. Secondary is a wreck, and D line shows up in 1 of 5 games. Not gonna win a bowl like this.
Let's be real here folks....Josh can't Superman us to wins every week. If this is how we play Rd 1 against San Diego or Denver it's not gonna be good enough. Last year LB injuries killed us, this year it'll be DBs. Win next week and take a knee the last game at the Pats...rest up the starters and injured
Glad you guys are coming around to what the rest of us have been seeing and saying for years: Josh Allen is being held back by his teams, and this defense is often the unit which fails in big spots. It works great as an aggressive attacking D but just can not hold out long enough to bridge a gap over troubled water or stand up and trade blows w/ an opposing offense; the D isn't going to steal any games, unfortunately
Defense looks like a major issue. They are awful on third down and soft against the run. I can already see the chiefs going on endless drives eating up the time of possession, while Josh can only watch 😢
I'm a little concerned. Team came out flat, even injured they can't have that bad communication. Very uncoordinated. But I think If/when people get healthy, we'll be okay
Was a good game for the Bills, offense played good enough to win, (no injuries!) andstill have all that potential we've seen recently. If they'd needed Josh to score more he certainly could have. Defense started slow again, but shut them down till late when the game was over. Always near the top in takeaways. I know you worry-warts have to have topics, but this whole season's journey has been what they needed, when they needed it, both individual plays and games, giving them the experiences and lessons they will need in the playoffs. They will be SO ready to put it all together, it's going to be fun playoff run! MERRY CHRISTMAS Jenna, Mike and Dan, (we don't say happy holidays here) Hope you all get whatever's on your wish list! Congratulations to Dan for his new family member Congratulations to Mike for his well-deserved recognition Congratulations to Jenna for her engagement,(and for always looking stunning, no matter the weather!) Thank you all, for the friendly conversational discussions I miss now that I'm not a Rochestarian GO BILLS!!!
It felt like they rested and they shouldn't have not yet ? They played down to match the team they were playing. Which in this game was surprising to see no doubt , I know if this was another team with a higher level to play against ,The Bills would have Played To Match That Team 💪 as well . I've always said , The most dangerous team to play is one that has nothing to lose .. and it came true today .
Was very disappointed that the Bills didn't come out more aggressive and want to play for their quarterback to get the MVP trophy. Josh also was not making good decisions with his passes for at least half the game. The big picture is, they won! Hopefully they will learn and get going much faster in every other game this year.
It's not good enough. I get it, it's a divisional game. But at key points throughout the game, I kept asking myself... Where's this defense's pride? Just letting a rookie QB come in to your house and eat? The Patriots have been one of the worst offenses in the league. They're 3-12 for a reason. It was the same story last year, when we almost lost to the GIANTS at home for heaven's sake. Last week, I think they didn't convert a single 3rd down. Last night, they converted on 3rd down constantly. Our defense made one of the worst offenses look perfectly adequate. I get we're playing a lot of backups in the secondary, but where's their pride? This isn't a special receiving core on the Patriots. They're not man beaters. Pop Douglas is the only reliable option Maye has aside from Hunter Henry, and Douglas is like 5'8. I mean come on lol. We're not getting off the field, we're giving up 3rd and long conversions every week. We're getting picked apart over the middle of the field. Finally, FINALLY in the 2nd half the coaching staff decided to challenge Maye and blitz him non stop until he proved he could beat it, get him to run off his spot and have to make a decision quickly and not read out a full progression. If the secondary is bad, the only way to cover for them is to generate PRESSURE AND PASS RUSH. It's that simple. This isn't gonna do it for a super bowl run man. If the offense has an off-night like we did yesterday, we can lose to literally ANYONE. That was ugly, it was embarrassing, Sean McDermott has every right to be annoyed and upset with the performance. Sure, I love to get a win...but when your aspirations are getting to and winning a super bowl, this is nowhere near good enough. The defense NEEDS to stop fucking around because eventually they're gonna find out what it feels like to get humbled. It may even come next week. The Jets may be dysfunctional but Aaron Rodgers is still just good enough where he can hang enough points on you to win ugly, and their defense will play tough and physical in the spoiler role. I promise you, they're looking for anything positive to use as motivation for next year. Beating the Bills IN BUFFALO is that motivation. We have to add talent to this defense in free agency in the offseason. We need speed, athleticism. Our team speed is bottom tier of the league. I'm very much hoping that we can acquire some talent in free agency this offseason. In the secondary, and at receiver. We need another corner and another safety. We also still haven't solved our receiver problem because we really do need that guy who can win deep down the field against man coverage. Amari Cooper isn't fully up to speed yet(he was off the field a lot last night), and I don't think he's a long-term option for a resign. I think he was a rental. I don't think Keon will ever truly be the WR1 X receiver for this team. I think he's a potential WR2 for the future, but we need a burner who can stretch the field and keep a defense honest. Still lots of issues to address with this team imo. Need to spend a lot of draft capital on the d-line as well, and add another linebacker because Baylon Spector just is NOT it man lol, and Milano is getting older now and is constantly hurt. I love the guy, but he's constantly hurt and I don't foresee him ever playing out a full season again.
Very scrappy game....the only good thing was the result... it is with these games that we see the true quality of the teams ... now compare the Chiefs and the Bills!!!! The Bills are either hot or cold!!!! Do they want to be considered contenders!!!!! The last three games we see a team (D) that did not show up in LA then could not stop an offense in Detroit and the whole team O and D was not ready to play yesterday!!!! NO Intensity not the same level of fight the Patriots were showing. In my view it comes down to coaching!!!! I have been a Bills fan for more than 30 years.. but I am sad to say we will never win the SB with this coaching staff!!! Like it is said below by other comments... so much draft capital spent on D and .....!!!!!
I deal with ulnar nerve issues sometimes. The cold definitely didn’t help him. It is concerning that he has recurring issues with it. Shaking the hands doesn’t help, can actually make it worse. I hope the trainers are giving him vitamin b and braces to keep his arms straight especially when sleeping.
Was anyone else wondering why Josh kept pitching the ball backwards to the RB when killing time at the end of the game? One tiny mistake and we could tie or lose the game.
I'm really concerned at the lack of qb pressure by the line. A defensive coach and a ton of draft capital plus free agency money and this line underwhelms year after year. It's the single biggest reason they have lost in the playoffs under this coach and they just get servicable players not impactful players year after year. Occasional flashes not good enough. How many teams with defensive coaches have a blazing offense but underwhelming defense?
barely mentioned the ST .....never came back to it as the ST have had way too many mistakes where are the questions around that area as it is just as much a concern as the D injuries
Absolutely correct! Von was going through the motions. I didn’t see any explosiveness from him and there were a couple of plays it looks like he gave up.
Biggesr concern ia the pass rush, and that in the playoffs on 3rd downs will be back breakers. Once again looks like this D will cost another playoff upset.
The Bills will always play at least 3 of these entities: 1) the scheduled opponent, 2) the refs, 3) the league's scripted Chiefs 3-peat SB win.. 4) themselves.. I hope I'm wrong but its becoming obvious.. Where do they find the refs??
Love watching the podcast, guys. Every team has their 'off' times both offensively and defensively. It's being consistent enough in those times to come away with the 'W',eh? WE know that KC has made a season of it this year. Certainly doesn't mean they aren't still a huge threat. bUt it DOES indicate that they can be beaten even tho their record seems otherwise. It would seem that Buffalo has a better chance of surviving past the first week and potentially beyond this season. That's exciting-- it's been a really great time watching them shine. Let's hope they fair MUCH better come play-off time. Cheers and Merry Christmas to you & yours... T
It'll be a short post-season, the Matt Milano that everyone hopes will return soon is most likely just a fond memory - age and injuries are making a great player merely good, or very good. I also wonder if Josh will, over time, suffer from neurological damage in his post NFL years.
“To Dans Point”…..yes they better figure out the defense…..but honestly, after 15 games you are exactly who your play says you are. The offense has had many games where they light the other team up, and a few games where they had yet to figure it out. Today they chose not to show all their tools. But on defense, there is no extra gear. On their very best games they bend and control things more than the other team, and on their worst days, they either lose or find themselves playing a bad team and find a way to win with one half. Teams, especially defenses, don’t suddenly become something they’ve not been.
Naaa all clock 🕒 play bills could move 🏈 at will defense need 5 defensive ends up front and didn't pat.s beat themselves like they should no forcing plays
The Bills didn't have red jerseys when they beat the Chiefs and the Lions. It was cold and seemed like a slower game altogether. But someone got to win, Go bills 👍🏽
Ugly win but division games are usually close. Am concerned about the defense they need to more consistent and this off-season stopping the run should be priority #1.
I know you're supposed to not pay RBs blah blah blah - this backfield, all 3 of them, are *playing* their way against that and making a VERY strong and compelling case to make sure we keep all 3 of them for awhile, and ESPECIALLY Jimbo who's reminding me a lot of Thurman Thomas
Being we are playoff bound allowing a 3-11 team to even hang around is concerning. I get the whole division excuse but many of our players were exposed today , mainly Elam and our D front. 3 - 11 means they are Bad and we beat them by a FG
It’s about matchups not records. The pats were in 12 personnel and the bills were in their base nickel with Spector and cam Lewis starting. It was a tough ask to stand in there and stop the run.
@ its not. It’s always about matchups. The pats play big on offense and it is an issue with the Bills defense. No different than the cardinals, titans, dolphins and rams start. They came out and ran in big sets and set up manageable 3rd downs. The defense did what they do best in the second half, they get takeaways. That is how good teams win.
@ I am saying all games are about matchups, environment and injuries. The rams essentially played the same game the bills did yesterday. Brutal cold, came out struggling to throw the football but ran the ball well. In the second half they got takeaways and won the game. The history of the nfl is filled with bad teams pulling upsets in the final two weeks of the season.
How can anyone have confidence in this coaching staff, especially the special teams which continues to find ways to give up plays two years running. Why is Smiley still employed?
Von Miller was a bit of a disaster today. Any time Patriots needed a 1st down, just run a Screen Play in his direction. Any time Drake Maye needed to run for a 1st, Von Miller lost containment on the outside. Maye ran through uncovered end.
That was the problem they said we going to plaster wr and let them run there were times when the back or underneath guy was open josh didn't want to throw it quickly he held the ball to long. Today
How come a Team with NO Protection, No Coaching and no weapons almost kicked our buts!!!! It comes to show that the Bills were unprepared for this game!!!! It all comes down to coaching!!!!
But wait mcd won the lowly afc east 5 years in a row with josh allen dropping 40 tds each year and ended the drought and only put up 3 points in that playoff game were not allowed to question coaching
This defense has looked bad for 3 straight weeks. Rams haven’t looked even close to that good on offense since that game. Lions we let them come back to quickly to easy which made it a game. Pats dominated our defense. Them turnovers saved the win for us. They need to get better in a hurry
Defense wise, I am easily an 8 now. Never been reassured all year so moved from 3 to 6 most of the year. This was not reassuring. We’re a playoff team but did not look like a Super Bowl contender this week. Like Joey Swoll would say: You need to do better.
Thanks Mike, Dan, and Jenna! Merry Christmas!
Chiefs have been winning ugly all year. It was the Red Jerseys & white pants.
lol
Except A Chiefs win Super Bowls and B 6-1 against current playoff teams ✅
The chiefs have won super bowls already though.
That uniform can go into the donation bin forever.
When I turned on the game in progress I thought the Pats were the red shirts. No doubt players from both sides got confused at times.
Merry Christmas Buffalo Plus!
This must be how Chiefs fans have felt all year. UGLY.
Love this analogy--thanks! T
I am very concerned with the defensive line. It just seems every year, we are talking about the same thing.
Why do the bills stop giving cook the rock in the 4th quarter of damn near every game???? Give that man the carries he deserves already. He’s a home run waiting to happen on every touch.
I was freaking out. I needed you guys during the 2nd quarter
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!!

Jordan Phillips has to be in there all the time! The "big fat kid" is a great D.L.!
A win is a win.. GO BILLS!!
“Funnybone” is striking the superficial portion of the ulnar nerve at the elbow.

Thank you for saying what needed to be said! As a retired nurse I get it!
Might be time to stop deferring if they win the toss. Other teams have come right out and said "our game plan is to keep Josh off the field", so they eat clock. Which they can do because the defense can't make a stop to save their lives.
This
This is exactly what the Giants did in Super Bowl XXV with Jim Kelly and Co.
Good take but I still disagree. Deferring gives you a chance to “double dip”. Taking the ball, sure, gives you the chance to take the early lead. However scoring to end the first half knowing you’re getting the 2nd half kickoff is always the best scenario.
i pretty sure buffalo has 1 loss when deferred
We differed to the rams and they kept the ball, pats did the same we actually haven’t been able to defer some games. McDermott is always going to go with the double dip it’s our defense job to get off the field on 3rd down plain and simple but not bad take.
Why is Micah Hyde not getting some playing time with all these injuries?
My concern for the defense is at an 8. Hope they can fix it. Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas. Go bills.
Merry Christmas everyone Go Bills!
Spears, no way. Achane, Jonathan Taylor and Mixon might be his only 2nd team competition.
Intensions equal results. The team is tired, nicked up, and maybe a little burned out from the pressure. They were hoping for an easy win but faced a divisional team that was looking to make a grand exit from the '24 season.
James Cook is like "Hellloooo? Didnt everyone see how awesome I was?"
Bills recent struggles versus a bad Patriots team continued yesterday. Division games are always tricky, but theres something about playing them that the Bills can't get it together. I'm happy for the win. Go Bills.
I'm just happy that we won.
UGLY IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN NOTHING!!
Dan is showing his soft side by admitting it is nice to have a running game. This is what happens to a man who has only girls at his home.
It doesn't have to be a substantial hit on that nerve it just has to be in the right spot because it pops in and out of its space where it sits in the elbow .
Lesson: we still need reinforcement at linebacker and defensive line.
Been saying it on here for several weeks now. We need to take the ball first!! This team feeds off Allen and the offense.
In Detroit Lions got ball first
Bills led 14-0
Welcome back to the studio, Dan. Question for Jenna and Mike: Does Dan's old ball cap smell like it looks? I knew it that darn elbow . Pressure on his Ulnar Nerves has got to be addressed especially in his throwing arm 🤨
Yes we need to take the ball if we can get it go down and score and set the tone
No excuses, this late in the season, for Bishop and others don't know where to stand.
Josh said that they don't want to show all of their plays. Is Cooper part of those plays? Because they haven't been throwing to him at all
he had 1 catch and then 1 drop
Why not play hyde these last couple games?
Cook looked annoyed that he caught a TD instead of running it in. 16 TD would tie OJ Simpson
Merry 🏈Christmas guys!
#5 concern
Coach McDermott needs to post the actual starting time for the game and that the game consists of 4 full quarters
Defense looks like a major issue. They are awful on third down and soft against the run. I can already see the chiefs going on endless drives eating up the time of possession, while Josh can only watch 😢
Put some food table on the field and put Jenna in pads and let her go at it lol 30:20
I'm a little concerned. Team came out flat, even injured they can't have that bad communication. Very uncoordinated. But I think If/when people get healthy, we'll be okay
We should have been able to have better offense doing what’s already on tape without showing more for playoffs.

It looked like his right elbow was bleeding, so it possibly really got jarred.
Obviously, McDermott is sick, is Josh sick too? Maybe that’s what caused them to be flat?
McD is sick, all right. Sick in his mind, heart, and soul
They are fine beause when you win close games you win in the playoffs and you win the superbowl. We all need to relax and not micro mansge. Go Bills
❤
Was very disappointed that the Bills didn't come out more aggressive and want to play for their quarterback to get the MVP trophy. Those defensive backs better return before the playoffs, or t will be the sane old story..in any case. all of you have a Merry Christmas
Special teams are the Bills weakest link and could lead to their downfall ... 🙄😬
Merry Christmas gang !! ✌️😎
Yeah they need a new special teams coordinator. Unfortunately

I hope the trainers are giving him vitamin b and braces to keep his arms straight especially when sleeping.
Was anyone else wondering why Josh kept pitching the ball backwards to the RB when killing time at the end of the game? One tiny mistake and we could tie or lose the game.
There was alot of times josh could have run but he was trying not to
I'm really concerned at the lack of qb pressure by the line.
I kinda want to see josh Allen get fired up and yell at dudes on the sideline don't wast this year and preforming get up get better
Now is the perfect time for Josh to cut his hair and shave the stash, not bad luck after an ugly win
We are seeing the impact of not having Floyd on D like last year!!! He was the difference maker. Von has not!!! ... and the rest only in patches!!!
Lets keep pretending Bills defense has a chance to get them to SB.
Ya’ll were extra funny today
Miller has contain and he never looked for a screen he rushed right for back or qb
Holy fuck Debbie downer geez, unfortunately I agree with the milano take, the rest of it you just have to step off the edge and take it easy a bit
Merry Ho Ho Ho to Everyone 🎄☃️❄️🧑🎄
The Bengals have dug walked us 3 times it's not just the playoff loss Joe borrow has whipped us everytime he's played us.
He’s only played us twice, and I’m pretty sure he’s missing the playoffs again so you might wanna start taking the poster off your wall
@ToddH76 well your record reflects your poor match ups over the course of your season so it is about records. 12-3 > 3-11
I asked that very question after last year's Bronco debacle and this year's Rams snafu. The guy can't count to 11. Pathetic.
Theirs a WR1 hiding in plain sight.
Von Miller was a bit of a disaster today. Any time Patriots needed a 1st down, just run a Screen Play in his direction. Any time Drake Maye needed to run for a 1st, Von Miller lost containment on the outside. Maye ran through uncovered end.
I'm at a 5 maybe even a 5.5 because our D has been on vacation . The 2nd string guys are now running and need our 1st string to play their worth ? 🤨
The Rams game was as close to a pretty loss as you can get.
@@justinbell5421 😂😂😂
@@largemouthhunter5014 am I wrong tho hahahaha
@@pedrobarreto4335 strongly disagree.
@@ToddH76 so what is your point?
This defense has looked bad for 3 straight weeks.
Rams haven’t looked even close to that good on offense since that game.
Lions we let them come back to quickly to easy which made it a game.
Pats dominated our defense. Them turnovers saved the win for us.
They need to get better in a hurry
I was waiting for comments on all the penalties. You mentioned Elim. I could figure that out. Was it the team, the referees or both
So right about the bad taste in the mouth this game left!
Defense wise, I am easily an 8 now. Never been reassured all year so moved from 3 to 6 most of the year. This was not reassuring. We’re a playoff team but did not look like a Super Bowl contender this week. Like Joey Swoll would say: You need to do better.
Kair Elam - 3 PI calls, 2 in the endzone. Not good enough by far.
Patriots need to thank the chiefs for loaning them there refs
I'm sorry but every win is Pretty like Jenna and Dan!!!! Mike is still crying!!!
Let's talk about not calling any pass interference until the last 4 mins. of the game and refs handed the ball to NE 10 times at 1st and Goal ?
