    Thank you, Hannah. I learned to knit English style, like you, from my grandmother in England and find knitting videos very helpful but because most do not knit English style it takes a bit of trial and error to get to the correct stitch. I will be using your site all the time from now on now I have found you knitting English style. Jill

      Hi, yes I wish I could show that to you. Unfortunately at that time I was still filming with an iPodTouch, which didn’t have great resolution, so close-up wouldn’t have been very clear. I hope you can see it large enough on a desktop or tablet, so the fabric is larger on screen.

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sarah, it's like you see diagonal lines on a chess board. It's the brain's interpretation of the slip stitches moving one stitch along with each row, similar to moss stitch. Happy knitting! 🧶

    Hello Hanna your stitches are easy to understand - I'm making a head band and using your last bleu swatch - P1S1 - the loops on 1 side are the same but purling the reverse side does not give nice result as on your bleu example Why so my back looks like garter stitch???? I hope someone answers I'm knitting this for my granddaughter and was going to ask her which side she prefers Thank you Geraldine

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  4 года назад

      Hi Geraldine, you're essentially purling each side which will give the same result as knitting each side - it's the nature of ho w the yarn moves when you're making each stitch. It's an ideal pattern to make a reversible headband. It'll be one pattern one side and different on the other. Happy knitting!

    Given this WYIF method creates a thicker outcome, would it be best to use a DK rather than a super chunky yarn for a scarf?

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  Месяц назад

      Possibly, for a looser drape you would just change the needle size - thicker needles=looser drape. So theoretically it wouldn't matter which yarn weight you chose, the needle size would make it feel right as you knit it. Happy knitting 🧶🎄

    Hi Hannah, I am knitting a scarf with the following row: K1, P1, K2, P1, WYIF, SL 3 STS PURLWISE, P1, [K2, P1] TWICE, WYIF, SL 3 STS PURLWISE, P1, K2, P1 K1 -My question is, do I let the bar lay flat across the 3 slipped stitches rather than pulling it tight when I purl the stitch after the 3 SL stitches? Thank!

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  4 года назад

      Yes, let it lie along the stitches without pulling right, otherwise the stitches either side will be tighter and the width of your knitting will change on the rows that you’re slipping. Happy knitting 🧶

    Hannah, this was so very helpful BUT did not answer the problem I am having.. I am working on a Prismatic Scarf and am totally confused. Each row has 30 stitches and begins with a K 3 and ends with Sl 3, to make an iCord edging. My question is if the last 6 stitches are Slip 3 and then ends the row with Slip 3. How do I do this??? HELP PLEASE!

    • @KnitWithHannah

      I'd do a knit stitch on the third stitch. Just to hold it together. slip 2, k1, slip 3. happy knitting 🧶

    Hi Hanna! How do you do S2PW (yarn held in back and in front)? Is it done the same as this? Thanks for your help.

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  2 года назад +1

      Not sure exactly what it’s suggesting, as pw is purlwise, saying the needle goes into the stitch as if purling, but might be saying to have yarn in front too. You can slip multiple stitches in a row, not just one. So it could be simply slip 2 stitches in a row.
      Happy knitting 🧶

    What about sl 2 wyif at the very start of a ws row?

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  7 месяцев назад

      Consider it as slip one, slip one, without moving the yarn between slipping. The last stitch from the previous row will anchor the yarn in place.
      This video shows that it's not unusual to do more than one slip stitch one after the other in patterns: ruclips.net/video/e_AYLt42qu0/видео.html

    Hi
    I have an old project and I need help figuring out stitches names
    Could you help me with that
    Could I send you a close up picture and maybe you’d recognize it!

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  Год назад

      That might be difficult as the stitch patterns may be different depending on when and where the pattern was written. It’s the individual stitches that bring the patterns together that will be the clue.
      I don’t offer individual one-to-one support like this, so suggest you find a local knitting shop or online knitting coach who could help. Tonia from the RUclips channel @Nerdy Knitting is the only one I am aware of right now.

    Hi there! I am beginning a scarf project and it starts with a moss border… I am a very new, basic knitter. The border rows each end with “SL 3 WYIF” so how would that go? I understand the slipping in your video, but I’m unsure about how to work it with 3 stitches

    • @KnitWithHannah
      @KnitWithHannah  3 года назад

      Keep the yarn in front and slip three stitches, one stitch at a time. Don't need to move the yarn in-between. I'd take a close look at any illustrations there are with the pattern it'll give you a better idea of what you're supposed to be replicating. happy knitting! 🧶
