I did the same. I got Jack last Russell's 3rd Stagg 2nd, which surprised me and b520 1st. But they were a close 1st and 2nd.
Pretty happy with what I guessed knew which one was Jack and which one was Russell's. Great video guys!

Great matchup thanks. Stagg Jr. seems to win over ECBP for you guys most times. Would love for you guys to throw in a barrel proof Garrison Bros. to either expose it as not worthy where it’s dead last (my guess) or surprise everyone at how high it ranks against widely respected barrel proof bottles.

I have all but the Stagg Jr (though I've tasted it and thought it was divine). I only got the Russel's last night and had one taste, but it was fantastic. I've really been crushing on the JDSBBP lately though. All-in-all, I can't disagree with your assessment. The ECBP is definitely the weak link (that batch, anyway). But, given how available the JD is, it gains lots of points for me. ECBP and JD are bot easy to get, whereas Stagg is very difficult and the Russel's was a huge PITA to get (at least for retail price).

I've only had the Elijah and Jack. Liked the Elijah more but man it's hot. I've never seen Stagg in PA where I am.
There are no losers in this flight. They're also easy to tell apart. Especially, Jack. Great video, men.
I trust Dan's opinion on how long to microwave an Uncrustable equally as much if not more so than I trust his opinion on whiskey.

What are the whiskeys written on the board? I see Frey Ranch on there. Love their stuff- especially their barrel strength. It actually beat Stagg 15 in the last blind I did. Plus they are down the street from me so their stuff is everywhere in Reno.

Good video . its Semi blind i say not total blind . When u have memory of whiskey u had before and u know exactly which bottles u r tasting right now, know their taste and do these kind of tasting then its called semi blind and this can manipulate so many things when u judge a particular whiskey . We are all different with different nose and palate so its up to you how u judge whiskey . i won’t say this was good or bad but interesting to see .
When is the best time of year to go visit the distilleries in Kentucky. I’m putting together a guys trip and looking for opinions.
Fall is a good time. Summer is so fucking hot and humid and winter is rainy and chilly. Spring still kinda rainy but it would work too.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof wins for me if only because I can actually find bottles of it, and at a reasonable price. I'm sure I'd love the Russell's, but that's just a myth bottle as far as I can tell. Can't find it nowhere.

Always will do both. They suit different people differently which is why we branch out to different topics we're interested in as well. No plan on stopping yet.
I enjoy both as well. Sometimes the 4 hour live streams are hard but I hang for a few hours as long as I can. The short ones are good for a quick reference or heads up on what to look for out in the stores. Thanks for both BJ's

I have or have had all of them and yes JR is incredible and getting hard for me to find, you literally put them in the order I would have ,if full proof is in the same category I would have at least had to add 1792 FP to the mix ,I adore 1792 FP

No way thats Batch 15 Stagg Jr. I have a bottle and enjoy the ECBP batches from this yr more especially B521. Though I'm a fan of dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and smoky oak notes ijs.

When doing these blinds are you guys not able to easily pick out which one is which? Especially with bottles that are so different from one another like these. When I do blinds and I know which whiskies are in it I'll taste the "heaven hill" or "wild turkey" or "brown forman" etc and immediately become biased in my tasting
Edit: I supposed a problem I have is that I don't have many bottles (no more than 20 absolute max, gf won't let me) and so I remember what each one tastes like because I drink them so regularly
If you only have 20 then its easier to pick them out, plus some things can surprise you especially if you havent had them in a bit

I've also found if I'm not the one who poured the blind, it's a lot harder to figure it out

I mean it’s sort of defeats stagg jr being aged so long in its barrels only to be diluted by other notes for the sour. I wouldn’t do it mysel nor recommend it. However if it is how she best enjoys it in this short life, then that’s how she should drink it. Probably not something to have very often unless you stocked on the preferred stagg jr.
I’d be more apt to put it in an old fashion where the whisky drives the cocktail more than in a sour where the mix over takes the whisky. But if she likes it, and you can get it easy enough, let her enjoy it. Personally for me it’s so hard to find in my area I would never use it in a cocktail.

Problem, you compared a $200 + bottle of Stagg Jr to a bunch of $60 bottles. Don’t think it will stack up to comparably priced bottles.
Stagg jr is a 59.99 retail bottle. The rest are the same if not higher. Secondary is even cheaper on it than RR 13
Yep, the secondary price of $200 for Stagg Jr. just reflects it’s scarcity, it’s not a direct correlation necessarily to the quality of the liquid in the bottle dollar-for-dollar.
I only paid 49.99 each for a couple bottles!

There are no losers here, especially when you factor in availability for most people. A slightly lesser ECBP or JDBP are way easier to find at retail for me than Stagg Jr or RR13, which makes it pretty much a draw in my book. If I'm drinking any of these, in any batch, I'm a happy man!
Man, I've now scored two bottles of Russel's 13, but still can't find a Stagg Jr in my area without paying $200 for it.
This makes me want to buy uncrustables.
I might have just turned to team Dan with that uncrustable logic. Still slightly frozen peanut butter is 100/100
ECBP>Jack> stagg jr. so far every ecbp ive had i thought was better than every stagg jr ive had. Jack is a massive hitter and very available. Awesome banana nut flavor. Stagg jr is good but doesnt drink nearly as well as the others and the flavor profile isnt as good imo. Also way harder to get. It will never be worth over 80 to me but ill only pay 60 anyway. Havent had the russells so i cant say anything.
