      It's mostly because warfare nowadays is so different than WW1/WW2. They had no fancy tech, drones, missiles that could strike from thousands of kilometers away. It was always boots on the ground. Nowadays that's not even needed anymore.

      Nah, the people are very much ready and willing to be active participants. Only the Iranian people can claim otherwise, since they died by the thousands only two months ago trying to overthrow their government. Other than that, all parties involved either directly elected their own government or actively support it in exchange for amenities and conveniences (gulf states) or ideological reasons (russia and Israel).

    • @NoGoodHandlesLeft
      @NoGoodHandlesLeft Month ago +7

      @erickmendoza3669 While technically true, Austria-Hungary was not going to act without German support. They also failed to mediate between A-H and Russia (part of the diplomatic corps knew A-H didn't intend to annex Serbia and another part knew Russia was only intervening because they thought Serbia was going to be annexed). Their invasion of Belgium is ostensibly what brought in the UK and made it a truly global war (along with the US later). Plenty of blame to go around but Germany made it so much worse.

      Same way they explain WW1.
      WW2 is fairly easy to explain, given its a fairly direct chain of WW1-great depression-nationalism in worst affected countries-warmongering used to recover countries economies-war breaks out across the globe- all major economies and there colonies dragged in.
      WW1 explainations gloss over the whole "the people in charge were all stupid and greedy" by just saying "well this one dude was assassinated for reasons we won't explain and then war broke out between most European states".
      Depending on the writer, basic History will probably say either Trump, Putin, or Irans leader started this one, if it does qualify as a world war, and gloss over all the hows and whys and who did or didn't do stuff to just get into how the war was fought, the major battles, who "won" and what the immediate aftermath was.

      the decision was made at least 2 years ago (probably longer) by the industrialists and first world leaders beholden to them. the past 2 years has been grooming of the population into accepting the idea of, and possibility. war is great for businesses and for those who control vast fortunes. even the vast majority backing the losing side of the last great conflict are still around and thriving today. the people pulling the strings behind closed doors will never suffer consequences, but only increase their fortunes. they have decided that it's time for a reduction in the population, as the 7 richest people have all stated that workers will no longer be needed in the immediate future.

The lesson could be wrong, they were teaching little girls how to make temperature maps and population density maps of their island and this was decades ago.

My opinion is completely unfounded but I'm willing to bet that China will never get into any actual indirect or direct military conflict with the US, and that the US and China have no meaningful arms race or intention for war like in the Cold War. It is at least akin to a cold war.

      War used to be fun

    • @DarkFilmDirector
      @DarkFilmDirector Month ago

      Throughout the entirety of WWII, it was essentially defined by nations breaking alliances and switching sides.
      Great Britain famously failed to decisively intervene against Germany nor the Soviet Union for the invasion of Poland right at the outset of the war. It just symbolically declared war but did nothing to stop them in the end. This both confused and emboldened the Nazi leadership and convinced Hitler of his special destiny. The war would have initially began with Germany on the backfoot if the UK and France launched an aerial and naval campaign against Germany from the outset, forcing German troops into defensive positions and thus delaying their Ardennes offensive. France was in a good position with its superior armor at the time to launch probing attacks on them in 1939 prior to the heavy buildup of German forces on the border in 1940.
      Germany also betrayed Japan by signing the Molotov-Ribbentropp pact and caught the Japanese prime minister completely off-guard. He and the IJA had been preparing for a land offensive into Siberia to retake the rest of Manchuria from the Soviet Union and Japan had been expecting Hitler to keep Stalin focused on Europe. Instead, the defensive pact forced Japan to make their ceasefire with the Soviet Union after Khalkin Gol permanent and instead adopted the navy's plan to invade the Pacific. That action dramatically changed the course of history. Had this sudden switchup by Germany with the Soviets not have happened, the US may not have been dragged into the war until late 1942 or early 1943 and the Axis would have been stronger.
      Then of course there is Romania, under the dictatorship of Antonescu, who exploited the Axis Alliance to gain territory for himself. But then with the collapse of the Axis line and the advance of the Red Army into their territory, the King of Romania staged a coup, overthrew Antonescu, and immediately switched sides to join the Allies and declare war on the Axis. Initially intended to gain favor with the Allies and Stalin, but it did not prevent them from falling into a petty Soviet satellite state.

      it's not just austria-hungary, i think belgium is only country in that map with a single correct border, and i suspect that's only because eupen-malmedy was covered by the name, and if you're gonna say the uk, the channel islands aren't coloured in so not even that's right
      edit:
      just thought i'd make a full mistakes list, lmk if i miss anything
      russia: missing Åland, kazakhstan, and the caucasus, while incorrectly owning western galicia, memel, and kaliningrad
      serbia: missing macedonia (literally like half the country at the time lmao)
      austria-hungary: missing western galicia, south tyrol, and most of montenegro's coastline
      germany: missing kaliningrad, memel, northern schleswig, alsace-lorraine, and i would guess eupen-malmedy but you can't see it past belgium's name
      france: has alsace-lorraine
      uk: missing the channel islands
      also, germany declared war on france, not the other way around, and belgium wasn't "caught in-between germany and france", it was an entirely avoiable invasion by germany in an attempt to outflank the french army
      luxembourg was also occupied by germany but more willingly
      finally, the coastlines are overall a little sloppy, like the zuiderzee's been filled in, but i think this is probably fine

      Flying cars are a terrible idea. Humans already struggle maneuvering on a 2D plane. Adding in height to that would result in massive causalities higher than a world war would.

      @mdl2427 Merz doesn't deserve to be put in this list of autocrats and warmongers, but Trump and Netanyahu are not much of an upgrade on the names you mention, and they're probably actually worse than Xi. If you're going to be oppressed, better to be oppressed by someone whose goal is stability, than by someone whose goal is the humiliation and/or eradication of anybody who is different from them.

      @blackwatertv7018 Its like some people think comics and video games tell them how the world works. It isn't team A vs team B - there are hundreds of countries all out for their own benefit ultimately. The US pushed the false narrative that there should be one top leader...but in reality the smaller countries do way better when there are a few vying for top position and keeping each other busy.

    Why are you not counting Palestine, Lebanon and Syria that is being attacked by Israel?

    • @unknownunknown7734
      @unknownunknown7734 Month ago +9

      mentioning those places will make it more accurate, but not the way you're describing it.
      Palestine - it is a continuation of the war that hamas started in oct 7th 2023.
      Lebanon - soon after oct 7th 2023 hezbollah joined hamas in the attack against Israel, thus pulling lebanon into the same war. it has ended since, but soon after the recent war in Iran began, hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel again.
      Syria - I haven't heard anything recently about Israeli actions in Syria. during the previous fight between Israel and hezbollah, while and shorty after the assad regime (which was allied with hezbollah) was collapsing, Israel attacked hezbollah and iranian targets (Iran is supplying hezbollah, as they are their proxy). There was also a much shorter round of bombing as a response to Syrian aggression against the druze minority in the south. (there is also a druze minority in Israel, many of whom have family in the syrian side of the border who were getting massacred by syria)

    • @unknownunknown7734
      @unknownunknown7734 Month ago +7

      @LightGaia09the 7th of October happened when the status quo was that Palestinian' liberty is limited, because when it is not, intifadas happen (exploding vests, and exploding busses).
      Say all you want about how effective the policy of limited Palestinian liberty is, but you can't say that it's irrational.
      And also, in the nakba, many Palestinians left on their own. They were promised by the Arab armies to be able to go back once they destroy Israel. The Arab armies were wrong. They couldn't destroy Israel.
      And the Palestinians who stayed were granted full citizenship and rights like every other citizen.
      You can't accuse a nation of committing genocide just because they are more militarily successful than their enemies.
