What a tragic story. I would like to see this character as a special guest throughout the Mega city one tv show.. going from innocent child, thug, reform antihero, to true hero at the end. His arch would be mental and touching. finger crossed.
Judge Dredd was the first comic I ever bought as a kid (I think it was an annual). I forget most of it but Mean Machine really stuck with me, such a cool character and had the best full colour artwork
See that is awesome I know next to nothing about the Judge Dredd universe like I said in the past. I have to admit the Sylvester Stallone movie is a guilty pleasure for me I saw it as a kid and I like Sylvester Stallone and so I was hooked so getting to hear this stuff about the actual comic is awesome to me thank you for sharing man
I think they did a good job with mean in the stallone film, thanks for these 2000 ad vids mr H i havent read the comic for a while and its great to catch up with some of the classic characters and epic storylines, a big thumbs up from wales.
Seeing his rise, fall and redemption, I always think of the story of Anakin when I think of Mean Machine. Actually love the full circle of Men's story. Just sad that he's no longer part of the Dredd Universe.
Mean machine was a very cool concept. I didn't know the latter part of his life, kind of sad. That's WHY 2000AD is a superior media. Just LOOK at the frame of 'Mean' with the chaos infection...
You didn't mention the fact that mean was killed along with the rest of the angel gang, and was reanimated (by the Judge child I think) in a later story. that's why he's one armed. He's a great character though. Hoping they all appear in the TV show.
I remember the character, specifically, a story where Mean is teamed up with Dredd in the Cursed Earth and Mean has been given brain surgery to make him think Dredd is his father, Pa Angel... Yeah, Mean gets his brain operated on a lot.
Loved everything they did for the first 15 years(fort neuro was brilliant)except when they tried to be funny (ace garp is a prime example)Dredd had that dark humour,I learned to read on commando and american pulp stuff but when the 2000ad came along-mind blown
@@byronlivingstone8320 Wow, that's fantastic. I learned to read with my dad's Commando comics as well back in the 70's and quickly became a massive fan of 2000AD in the mid 80's. I'm 50 next year and still read my collection of 2000AD every now and again. Fair play mate

Mr.H I have a question for you and for the viewers. Are you or anyone else interested in the Chronicles of Riddick/Pitch Black franchise and if so would you consider making videos on it. Cheers.
Nathan Taurua The Riddick franchises has so much potential to be so much more. You would think Riddick was a normal human but there is more to him. We never got to have the world of Riddick flushed out.
the first time I saw Mean was in a crossover Judge Dredd had with Batman. he seemed like just a generic goon hired by Judge Death, but he looked cool so I took a shine to him pretty quick.
+We are IF nope, go on my channel I interviewed the owners of 2000ad and the producers of the new show dude. Most questions will be answered and I had scoops
being from america and only knowing dredd from both movies, mean machine i think is actually well visualized in the stallone movie.......any thing else im not too sure of. Some call the movie bad, i call it a guilty pleasure, so bad its good.
Id love to go back into my comic collection of 2000 ad for the characters like this ,I have them stored away but I loved mean machine along many other characters from the comics
Stallone got a shit load of things right in his his movie, characters, facts, history, the outdoors! Urban's Dredd was stucked in a box the entire flick :(
So this is one of those the character starting innocent then corrupted into one of the worst kinds of criminals but then finds redemption and even love and happiness only to have a relapse or too but sorta find redemption and self exiles thinking their violent evil past is what they are when apparently they gave that up successfully years ago when they finish out their lives helping others any way they can and actually wind up redeemed good guys sort of background stories. always makes one wonder how some of a franchises worst villains would've been had they been able to be on the otherside.. but on the other hand alot of the best heroes ever at one time were the worst bad guys too
i remember the character in the stallone film, but never knew that much about him... wish we could get a sequel to Dredd with this character and the rest of the angel gang
Yeah if I remember correctly the rest of the family is pretty much just insane. While Mean had the story of starting nice then being forced to become a mean cyborg before eventually becoming himself again and dieing helping others. He just seems to have the deepest story of the family.
could you help mr H , I'm a huge fan of 2000ad and judge dredd , and have read them when I was younger , I always remember a story about a explosion in a mega city , not mega city one. but the explosion resulted in a nuclear man, a man who walked the scorched earth for yrs trying to get to mega city one because he blames for killing his family he is also in constant agony and can reflect any attacks back , its a great story have you heard of it
A question, Mr. H: With Dredd now being 70+ years old is there a good possibility that the series is coming to an end? Or has there recently been any kind of change regarding Dredd doing something to stop his inevitable aging?
Eu sinto eu tenho certeza que daqui a 60 anos o bairro de são Mateus vai ser uma terra sem lei vai ser o fim do mundo vai precisa de muito juiz dreed por que vai ser pior eu hei de ver enquanto deus me der força e saude

I agree.
"Izzat so?"
Agreed
Mean Machine was one of the only things that they got right in the 95 version of Judge Dredd.
The also got Mega City 1 right too. The city was impressive and faithful to the comics.
That and the abc warriors.....kinda the design was right the execution wasnt
Lets be frank that movie got a lot of things right apart from dredd himself
He was well represented and accurately depicted in the Stallone movie.
I didn't know the end of Mean.. Such a tragic character till the end. Such is the world of Dredd. I hope we'll get to see Mean in the series.
Apparently, the story of Mean Machine's "final" death was told in the story "Rising Angel" in Megazine 359.
One of my favorite villains....my introduction to him was the judge child series
Judge Dredd was the first comic I ever bought as a kid (I think it was an annual). I forget most of it but Mean Machine really stuck with me, such a cool character and had the best full colour artwork
Ol Mean Machine. The Only thing they got right in the Stallone Dredd Movie. Always enjoyed the character. He was always fun.
Great review as always! The look of Mean Angel was one thing the Stallone film got right I'm my opinion, that and Hammerstein.
See that is awesome I know next to nothing about the Judge Dredd universe like I said in the past. All the Dredd still isn't enough Dredd
always need more Dredd, us 'Dredd heads' have gotten a raw deal from Hollywood.
I'm gonna have to ask you to read my eulogy when I die. I want your voice to make my monotonous, crippled life sound like a movie.
best one !!! XD
I love the Dredd stuff. Nice vid!
Wow i only seen the movie, i didn't know how deep this character was! Awesome!
never knew the full story! GREAT STUFF!
“You got three strikes law man!!”
Mr. H Reviews the best person on RUclips that explains Judge Dredd content!
God i love your videos. Your voice is perfect for the dark worlds you explain. Just perfect. Please, if you can, make more videos.
What a rollercoaster of a life story.
Seeing his rise, fall and redemption, I always think of the story of Anakin when I think of Mean Machine. Actually love the full circle of Men's story. Just sad that he's no longer part of the Dredd Universe.
Scott Wilson, rip, Hershel from the walking Dead, played his father in the original movie
This character and his arc was amazing!
Mean Machine was the first story I ever read. Sometime about 1986!!!!
Mean machine was a very cool concept. I didn't know the latter part of his life, kind of sad. That's WHY 2000AD is a superior media. Just LOOK at the frame of 'Mean' with the chaos infection...
Didn't know all of his story. So glad I decided to check out the video.
More Dredd I can't get enough
Dredd:"Illegal use of City Electricity, *How do you Pleed?* "
Mean Machine:"Ahghagraaa"
Dredd:"I *knew* you'd say that!"
Loved Mean and Fink Angel.
You didn't mention the fact that mean was killed along with the rest of the angel gang, and was reanimated (by the Judge child I think) in a later story. that's why he's one armed. He's a great character though. Hoping they all appear in the TV show.

Oh yes!!! I love the world of Riddick and would absolutely love to see videos on the universe/underverse of Riddick Mr H!!
Nathan Taurua The Riddick franchises has so much potential to be so much more. You would think Riddick was a normal human but there is more to him. We never got to have the world of Riddick flushed out.
+Nathan Taurua pitch black was initially supposed to be a pitch for alien three
Did not know that Mr H
Nathan Taurua yes i wish the movies of riddick were as succesful as the fast and furies films so vin would make more chronicles .
Some this old stuff is brill big dude
the first time I saw Mean was in a crossover Judge Dredd had with Batman. he seemed like just a generic goon hired by Judge Death, but he looked cool so I took a shine to him pretty quick.
Judge dredd is way darker than this year's horror flicks.
And more funny than this years comedy flicks.
Stallone's Judge Dredd rocks! I got to know all these shit you talk about because of that movie!
hes like a nicer angron.
the night hAunter war/russian/aidan/doctor/doyle yep, at least he never became a demon priamarch
Sorta does have butcher's nails.
Yep
Nicer is a relative term with angron
Wish they would get their act together and make a sequel to Dredd.
+We are IF where have you been? They are making a TV show
Really.....wow!!!
you have made my evening, off on a google search now!

okay will do.
New to me but epic. Will look in to him

It is a guilty pleasure for a lot.
The Hammerstein robot in the film is also a very good visual take on the character in the comics.
Id love to go back into my comic collection of 2000 ad for the characters like this ,I have them stored away but I loved mean machine along many other characters from the comics
This is one of the most tragic characters in the judge dredd universe.
Wasn't this guy in the Stalone Dredd movie?
Yes.
he was about the only thing they got right in the movie, lol
That and the ABC warrior.
Stallone got a shit load of things right in his his movie, characters, facts, history, the outdoors! Urban's Dredd was stucked in a box the entire flick :(
RockedThe/CrapOut Stallone prissy ass should've stayed his contorted ass face in the helmet like normal Dredds.
My rage dial cranks to 11.
Always one of my favourite comic creations.
Time for some Strontium Dog now.
Mean died? Aww a great character to read about,I stopped collecting the magazines a long time ago, thanks for the info.
I always wondered if the writer for the longest yard got the football teams name after Mean Machine Angel
I would love to see a video on the Judge child.

Jesus...I knew all the Angel Gang were at least partially the way they were because of their psychopath of a father...
...but *this* ...holy shit...
I'm aware of the movie version.
"You killed my pa!!"
Yup, loved the Angel Gang. I remember when Mean got married too, great story👍. Have you done the rest of the gang yet MrH?
+TheFarrierphil no not yet! Mean was the most compelling in my eyes anyway
Mr H Reviews lol, true. Sad to hear he's gone from the Dredd universe, though he's died once already and came back😉. Thank Judge Child for that👍
Yeah if I remember correctly the rest of the family is pretty much just insane. While Mean had the story of starting nice then being forced to become a mean cyborg before eventually becoming himself again and dieing helping others. He just seems to have the deepest story of the family.
Love this crazy roboman!

I like more about the Judge Dredd universe Mean Machine angel badass
Poor mean machine. Awesome comic!! Have you done a video on Durham Red or the Strontium Dogs?
Great video!
Aaaand now im sad. ;w; I forgot about mean, now that feels are coming back!
Mean Machine was 1 of the beast bad guys in Dredd
Why does Mean remind me of an Ork Warboss!
Will you do a video The Fink?
I remember this guy from the Stallone Dredd movie...
Any more long running villains in the pipe line? PJ Maybe, Narcos, Judge Edgar or Whitey?
A man obsessed with headbutting. Wagner have a impressive imagination.
Ro Jaws The glasgow kiss
A question, Mr. H:
With Dredd now being 70+ years old is there a good possibility that the series is coming to an end? Or has there recently been any kind of change regarding Dredd doing something to stop his inevitable aging?
I doubt the series will end but perhaps Dredd dies and is replaced by a young judge in the leading role.
They have Rico's son in the comics, maybe he'll take over and start using the Dredd name.
I mixed up some characters but was thinking of Vienna, Rico's daughter and Krakken the only survival of the Judda
I have a coworker who's like Mean Machine Angel. Minus the head dial.
Mr. H pleas do next time a episode about call-me-kenneth and the robo wars. Its the very first epic in judge dredd. Please Please! !!
I don't understand why he didn't get a second prosthetic arm. What's the point of just having a stump? Strange character.
Maybe it's symbolic, he can't touch the dial with his human hand therefore he has no control over his life and his actions.
i like calling it Mean Angel Machine (MAM) instead of Mean Machine Angel (MMAaaaaaaa).
mean machine needs a left arm
I don't want to get on Mean bad side
i didnt understand anything i am french lol ! but hey its awesome anyway ;)
cool
Ever thinking of covering spawn stories?
+zintosion not for the time being no
How does he wipe?
mean machine angel vs judge mortis
who wins that match guys ?
Mortis. He is unkillable and only need one touch to kill a living creature.
Catch you outside
Wow. He looks like a bad guy but he good. I guess it shows never judge a book by it's cover.
I see what you did there
Will you cover the Saw franchise or is it too dark for you?
Mike Hunt He covers Judge Dredd's universe. That is way darker than Saw :)
Magnus Wendin I completely agree.
Saw movies are just gorefest.
Ah yes, the notification squad lives on.
I'm gunna go up to 4 on ya Dreddy!!!!
