So that is why Han named his daughter in legends Jaina, she's named after his mother
Nathan Johnson if only Boba’s mother’s name was Jaina
Trey Hall yeah then boba and Han could have been friends just like how Superman and batman in Batmanv Superman became friends after figuring out their mothers are both named Martha
Why did you say that name?!
(Gasps)Ooh,oof. Beautiful.
It's his mother's name!
Always did love the Legends version of Han Solo. A bad upbringing turns upward as Han becomes a rebel and ultimately gets everything he wanted out of life, a wife, three wonderful children, a granddaughter, and many people who would have his back. Shame we didn't get more content after Crucible though. It would have been nice to see him pass so words of wisdom to Allana Solo and Ben Skywalker's children before he ultimately joined Chewbacca in the Netherworld of the Force.
Yes!
Yeah the writers of legends knows how to honor the characters.
I'm confused...at what point did he find the Ark of the Covenant?
Lol
Oh that was his great great great great great great great great Grandpa Indy Solo. haha
Right before he started working for the LAPD
@@GabeReal9009 well seeing as Star Wars is "A long time ago in Galaxy Far Far Far Away" pretty sure Han is the great great great great great great great great grandfather
Good one😂
That's my Han Solo.
Han in the Legends continuity didn't just abandon his family and regress as a character only to be killed in a stupid way after achieving nothing. In the Legends continuity, at his core, he was always Han Solo but he also actually continued to grow and develop as a character, leader, husband and father.
Which family did he abandoned?
@@janetf1502 his own. In Disney Continuity, in The Force Awakens.
Agreed!
You forgot to mention who shot emepor palpatine reborn in the final clone body that was hans biggest achivement in my eyes
Let’s be honest after the lore of emperor Palpatine in legends he deserves to get shot.
This is so much better than the movie’s backstory for him
Being betrayed by the rebels sounds like a good reason why he wouldn’t want to join the fight.
I'd forgotten half these stories. A real nice recap. Love to see one for Lando, too.
Great summary Alex

This was FAR more interesting than the movie
The best star wars charecter
You left out his pre-ANH exploits in the novel Shadow Games.
Great video, I love these "The Legends of" videos. Looking forward to Solo.
Odd story at times, Shadow Games. Mainly about Dash Rendar guarding a pop star. Has an annoying gaffe with how broken hyperdrives affect travel, and can't decide when it takes place, maybe.
Legends Forever!!
When Chewie got smashed by the moon did Han say "That's no space station, that is a moon"?
Because he should have.
Too soon
BattleUp Saber too soon
Boba Fett UHD forum Thanks for the replies guys, very relevant to my original comment.
BattleUp Saber Yeah, that would've been a funny callback .
BattleUp Saber LOL I agree.
It's kind of hard to realize that his descendant is Roan Fel
thank you for including the holiday special.
Before Jar Jar was the key to all this, it was Itchy & Lumpy. Very important.
Legends will allways be canon
I still like the new canon but I now understand why a lot of EU fans were upset when Lucasfilm started over.
Darth Jaulce main reason of us being upset was the removal of Tales of the jedi and Kotor (comic and game) arc. We still call old canon as "actual star wars". If disney calls their timeline main universe, it doesn't make it that
for me on the other hand, i just prefer the unique ideas of the EU (Not just kotor. I loved it but people do exaggerate it). The EU had so many loveable characters in their main plotline (Jaina and Kyle were one of my favourites)
I really loved the stories after episode 6. Not all of them, but the journeys that Han, Leia, and Luke took afterwards feel more right than the current fates they have. THe New Republic, the Empire, all of the things Palpatine had stashed away or planned, just fit more to me. I like elements of the new stuff, but their seeming rush to rid us of Han and Luke and throw away their on screen stories kinda turned me off from it all. As well as the New Republic just being destroyed.
A loud minority. Joke is at older conventions, and/or other Cons - the chatter was always..."The expanded universe is great but a mess and makes no sense! In Marvel issue 100 (which ran in 1980's) says Hans hair is brown, but clearly in the Solo books his hair is noted as dirty auburn."
Im joking of course but the conversation surrounding the EU was always about inconsistency, mistreatment of beloved characters, and contradicting plots.
I know today's clamor is a far cry from that, but we should all remember time is a flat circle.
Today's EU clamorers' were the same people nitpicking at the EU for the same reason the LF and Disney consolidated the EU.
Austin Wilhelm I agree. The destruction of the New Republic and Luke's Jedi Order makes ROTJ pointless.
I think Jyn Erso was influenced by Bria Tharen. Of course she had no known contact with Han Solo, but Bria Theren was behind securing the Death Star plans and knew it was a one way mission, which we sacrificed herself in the end to evade imperial capture. The Hutts that ran Ylesia were Hutts of Clan Besadii, they were rivals of Clan Desilijic, which was Jabbas Clan. Shortly after their raid on Ylesia he met with Tharen again for a Hutt Sponcored treaser hunt for the Yavin Vassilika. It contained a key made from a Corusca gem. It was a key to one of the Massassi temples on Yavin 4. Tharen claimed the key and wanted Han to join her with the Rebels, but Han refused and lost friends along with Lando.
2:30
Han shot first
He was the only one who shot. The other one didn't get a chance to shoot.
I like Han’s EU Backstory better then his canon one
Han, Luke, and Leia age unrealistically well in Legends 😁
Yeah, thats what happens whe you are active
Joe Kerr crucibe should have been episode 7 or 8
formerlydarth nowjustmaul, I am so glad the new Trilogy isn't adaptations of Legends books. Adaptations rarely turn out well, and restrict the film makers.
They come from a highly advanced society that has scientific achievements Millennia ahead of ours the human lifespan is longer
yeah like wtf SW Legends; KK, and Rian All-Over-Your-Childhood-Memories Abrams....why doesnt age in this science high fantasy realm work exactly like it does in my physically tangible world?
/s
The fact that you mentioned the events of the Holiday Special makes you the most legit SW channel on RUclips.
I think Han's relationship with his cousin Thrackan Sal-Solo is an important one in this timeline.
This is awesome and He has been through a lot. Great video.
Did you do 501st yet? They're my favorite clones(besides maybe duncan idaho or superboy)
Thanks for making this video...i appreciate this information in preparation for watching Solo this Friday 😁👍
Legends should of been in the movies
Always enjoyable. Love your videos. Like a cool teacher. Even though I love the material you make it pop. Thanks.
I usually like your content but this video is definitely one of my favorites. Have you done a legends history of Luke and Leia like this?
Much better! I don't understand how anyone can say there isn't much difference between legends and the sequel trilogy. There is still drama and tragedy in Han's family...at least his own son doesn't kill him, his daughter grows up to be a successful Jedi, and Han and Leia take care of their granddaughter. Though legends may not have provided every rift between the family, the overall storyline fits Han and Leia's character arcs much better, and how their lives probably would have played out. Han's life full of adventure as a loving father and husband, with screw ups and successes.👍It's awful his son J still turned to the darkside...In this world I also think he should have turned to the light and lived😁
75 years old, still kicking ass and taking names! :D Nice
I bet the legends story is better than the new one
Lmao, undoubtedly. Crispin's Han Trilogy is one of the best Star Wars stories ever written, whereas this ''film'' literally just finished post-production three weeks ago lmfao
David Bastardo lol
you know how to bet.
Disregard my previous comment. The movie is awesome.
I love that we'll be getting the Cloud Riders in Solo
Good video today master jedi.
This is great! More like this please!
That was so helpful! Thank you 👍
I always felt kind of bad for the actual actors with the old EU illustrations. The 50 something versions of Luke, Han, and Leia look NOTHING like the 50 something Mark, Carrie, and Harrison.
Well, the writers and artists had to use there imaginations back when those novels were released. I'm pretty sure some of those canon novels are over 15-20 years old now haha
nicely done i wonder if any of the "gaps" will be made into films? i feel so much smarter now & better for my Role thank you!!
I wish to know which novels you included in this vid. I just stepped into Star Wars franchise and I am particularly in love with Han's character, I want to read more story about him.
read the Thrawn trilogy, The Han Solo trilogy, the courship of princess Leia, Truce at Bakura, and tatooine ghost ( it's not really necessary but it's a good read)
Nice Video :)
Han's Legend Story is amazing :D
6:14 you know you’re on top when you start getting chased by DARTH VADER
the ending is perfect and what we should have got instead of the sequels, the golden trio doing their thing
Not sure if this is what you meant but what about Han’s other descendants like Ania Solo?
Great vid! :-) :-)
Yep, Legends is still better than canon.
Hell yeah
Hands down
I never did like putting the Jedi in charge. Another great video.
Wow this' really interesting. Can you please make a video about Hera Syndula?
What novels do you recommend post Return of the Jedi? I read the Thrawn trilogy when I was younger, same goes for the New Jedi Order books, but 19 books can get blurred over time. I still have to read the Killik trilogy as well as Jacen's "Downfall" Saga.
Have you read the X-Wing novels? I Jedi, Hand of Thrawn? Or Shadows of Mindor?
I'd recommend the X-Wing books.
Han does have an incredible legends life.
The same cant be said for "canon"
@@connorbates2756 It's too bad you see it that way.
@@connorbates2756 Agreed, and I think the Disney canon version sucks.
Thracken Sal and Han had a contentious relationship too
Can you do more videos like this?
Good clip
Was his granddaughter force sensitive?????
Probably, if she was the daughter of a Sith Lord.
Yes, and Jacen thought she'd be some kind of Jedi queen of the Hapes cluster.
Yes considering she was the daughter of a powerful Sith Lord and a Force Sensitive Hapian and was prophesied to become an uber Jedi Queen.
Thank you for my story 🦋
Glad we are getting a full length movie focused on a guy we know so little about.
legends is true star wars
0:46 he also probably had enough of pulling mile long wookie hairs out of his food.
I would love to see a video explaining if obi wan was holding back on anakin in revenge of the Sith during there duel or was he really trying. I mean obviously anakin was trying to kill obi wan he was trying as hard as he can but idk I just feel like obi wan may have been holding back a little as he still felt a strong connection and love for anakin. #starwarsexplained
Han's legends story is sadder than his current canon one.
retweet that. Chewie dies, he and Leia have three kids but only one lives. That's dark.
Will you be doing a complete legend video for Leia?
Even though this is all Legends except for the movies i feel like the whole Bounty Hunter thing should have been Canon since he is mentioned in Empire strikes back
What about Devil Han? Or when he fought a giant otter?
These moments DEFINED HIM
I wonder why Kasdan said that he never read the EU stories but still it seems like many of them are implemented into SOLO - why is that?
Because a lot of Han's history was established before the EU was written. So Kasdan and EU are basically working off the same original notes.
Star Wars Explained Thx for the reply, but where was it established?
More like easter eggs maybe, like the Cloud Riders, Si Klaata cluster, Coronet and Mimban etc. Also, wasn't it Lucas who first said Han served with the Imperial military once?
"They named a Star Destroyer with my dead son name? Kriffin roders !"
Definitely prefer legends over the new canon
You missed the "Death Troopers" book
I think Harrison Ford was about 74 when he shows up in The Force Awakens. Soooo the last stories he shows up he is similar in age in both Legends and Canon.
All you need to now is “I’m Han Solo, Han Solo, Solo.”
You gave a very brief lip service to Brian Daley's Han Solo Trilogy stories. I would think they deserved a bit more fleshing out?
0:59 "He tried to escape, but Garrus caught him" Dam Archangel >_>
Also, 3:50 makes me want a Cowboy Bebop-style adventure series with Han and Chewie...
I stay with the canon one.
Reasons.
I love the comic crimson reign.
And a few others things.
But yeah legends is still gold. Anyway
The best character in the intire movies
Il miss him in the movies
Would be cool if he had a forceghost
OoooooooOOOOH - what about the cloud riders!? That's these guys from the new Solo movie right???ß
Legends is so much better than Disney cannon ;)
You left out that time Han and Chewie survived a hoard of zombies on board a star destroyer. Shame!
What about the part when Han and Chewbacca enter the star destroyer in the book called Death Trooper.
Way better than the movie.
Chewbacca should get his own movie
I can't forgive Disney for making a majority of this noncanon
Wow, had no idea Han was frozen in carbonite for year.
Well, 9 or 6 months, depending on sources.
This should have been canon and the movie. KK f'ed up!
Just saw Solo at a pre premier viewing and was pleasantly surprised.... its a fun film made for real fans
I don’t know why there are not more videos on Han, Chewbacca, C3PO and R2...There is no comparison on how Legends Solo story as compared to Cannon. Legends is so much better in every way it’s not funny. Take note Disney.
3 days!!! 😁😬 Who's Excited🤔
crazy thing is... I'm going to see it in 25 hours.... :D
Julio Chao Ah, you're the one are you? 😉
only you and 9 more.
Can't believe they ACTUALLY made out his "real name" was "SOLO"
2:34. You know what they say. Han always shoots first.
I don’t know which timeline is better, though I do know that Corella was beautiful compared to what I saw in the movie.
*What about the Han Solo attack on the reborn Emperor?*
Han Solo deserted in cannon after becoming an Imperial Army soldier. He was a disgrace in cannon.
Do Luke Skywalker!
This is the Canon story!
Sometimes solo was so risky they called him Han yolo
the first part was all most just like the han Solo movie so I have no chose I give it a 7 in a haff
Going to see Solo tonight! super stoked!
Upfrombelow Did you enjoy it?
I did! was'nt perfect but a pretty good movie. I would rank it after rogue one but before episode 7 and 8.
How and when did Han Solo found out Lando's ownership of Cloud City?
06,07,09 there you go.
Dayym Harrison was good looking
The year he's been carried by Boba
