    I like how you presented this with the reflexive. It cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Thank you.

    I read the video title before I'd tuned by brain into Italian mode and for a second I thought it was going to be something about "Man Care" rather than the verb "mancare". 😂 Great explanation as ever, though!

    This is such a great, simple explanation, thinking of mancare like piacere is useful to me. Grazie mille Mark e Francesca!!

    great question, I heard a pop song in Italy a few years ago by Takagi and Ketra, the title is siamo l'esercito selfies but the chorus uses the expression mi manchi.....I thought the translation was "you miss me" which sounded weird.......it's a really catchy song btw

    So I see you used the 3rd person singular and plural form with manca and mancano and later 2nd person manchi. Is there any situation where y you use the 1st person singular and plural form, ie, manco and manchiamo??

    What if I say: " I miss you, this house, and this city? How would you translate this in general?

    • @coffeebreaklanguages
      @coffeebreaklanguages  4 месяца назад

      Ciao, here are the translations into Italian:
      - I miss you: mi manchi.
      - I miss this house: mi manca questa casa.
      - I miss this city: mi manca questa città.
      In the first sentence, ‘manchi’ is used as this literally means ‘you are missing to me’. In the other two instead the literal meaning is ‘it is missing to me’.
      The verb mancare can be a bit tricky at first, so don’t worry. If you are familiar with the verb piacere, you can apply the same logic to mancare as they work in the same way!

      @coffeebreaklanguages  3 года назад +2

      Ciao! It would be “le sta mancando…”.
      Ecco un esempio: "She is missing Luca" = "Le sta mancando Luca".
      Hope this helps!

      @@coffeebreaklanguages what if the person is missing? "she is missing." or my dog is missing? would it be ' Il mio cane e' scomparso? and we would not use the verb "mancare" for this example?
