In my opinion, it was a complete train wreck. They pissed off everybody in las vegas . Then they got the rest of us pissed off when they ran it in the middle of the night and then they tried to block out all the locals from seeing it. Talk about customer, no service.

I come to Vegas often but refuse to go there for this disastrous event the streets were already plugged up enough. The casinos were already on the take when I first started coming to Vegas 50 years ago they would comp you just about anything you wanted now they just take.
this aged well. imo we got a fantastic race. the grid seemed overly packed by people who are willing to pay for tickets that super bowl tickets and attendance was through the roof even though being at 1 am. ps side note charles max and checo all loved the race. don’t doubt something before it even happens

They are not really extorting the hotels, they were just going to build a privacy curtain on the side of the track in front of the hotels that didn't want to pay a free. The hotels refused to pay what F1 originally asked for, so they lowered the cost a lot. Basically if a hotel didn't want to pay, they would make it so people in the rooms wouldn't be able to watch the race, but even then the hotels would still be fully booked and charging much higher than usual rates.
It's F1 they don't care about fans in the US because it's an European sport. They won't lose money. It's another US loss. This past Las Vegas gp was terrible

This GP is a terrible idea. Based on the news clip from 5 months ago, they're only replacing one chunk of pavement and not the entire street. :/ 1 year ago, when the drivers drove on it. All 3 of them didn't seem to have confidence at all. I hope this race gets cancelled.
What locals? This is a street track staying by the main strip. Anyone who lives in Las Vegas full time isn't near the strip otherwise they'd complain about the lights that don't turn off all night.
I was there and being from the eastern time zone, the whole weekend was tough. The last practice round started at 3:00 am EST!! And as stated, super expensive tickets and the whole weekend in general
It's a shame they don't have it as part of a proper race track as I reckon there's thousands of rich guys who go to vegas that would love to go drive a Supercar or Trackcar on a Psuedo-F1 track during the day time.
Probably too short or too long and as a purpose built track it needs so many extra things that a street track doesn't, plus this area will have better service for streaming live.
For the tires and track it might be too cold for grip, everything else about the cars is better in the cold since colder air is more dense for the engine and obviously better for cooling too. I agree that everyone is looking at the eastern time like Las Vegas is in the east when it's not so 10pm isn't bad and it actually fits perfectly with Australia. I think another reason they set it later is so only people who paid the ticket fee will watch and others will either be gambling or going to sleep.

Add the fact that the first training session got canceled only eight minutes in after a drain came loose and destroyed Sainzs Ferrari, which he will get a 10 place penalty for (love the FIA). Can’t forget they made all the fans leave before the second training session, so people paid $200+ for watching 8 minutes of action. Vegas was such a great idea
I personally disagree, I think F1 at Vegas might help in the sense it gives an excuse for a repave, so that it’s safe for cars to race on. The impact, is more that a big tourism spot is getting shut down from Thursday to Monday.

The session never restarted even with 39 minutes left. Hope they get the manhole problem fixed before FP2 starts. Temporary street circuits suck.

I think it’s a smart move, i went to the race to watch live, huge spectacle with sold out boxes and stands, even though it was off to a shakey start the Vegas skyline as a backdrop of the race had an awesome novelty, like Monaco but with a track you can actually pass on. Will go again next year !
You know how you grow your US audience, stop playing games and allow Andretti/GM as the 11th team. I'm speaking to the current 10 teams. You have 3 US Gran prix, Andretti would pay 4 years of 200 million per year in dilution. If us revenue goes up so does prize money, and you have another engine manufacturer to choose from.

I was at the Venetian for the race and it was a fantastic time. Very exciting. I've never seen so many people in Vegas
