Originally, Megaman Zero was supposed to end at the third opus, but fans' demands for a sequel pushed the Inti Creates teams to create this opus, and to find a way of not having to bring Zero back, so I'm both very happy that Megaman Zero is the only Megaman saga to have a concrete end, but I can't help thinking that Zero died because of the fans, in a way... I mean MMZ3 would have made an excellent ending too, except for what would happen to Dr. Vile of course.
Dunno why but I always think Falling Down is better than Cannonball. While Cannonball is also a great song, embodying the final battle of the real and the fake One, Falling Down really evoked the feeling of "The ending of it all". It really satisfying finishing Weil, even though Zero must be sacrificed. At least, it's a perfect ending, and Zero died a hero.
I'm 100% with Falling down being the better song. Cannonball is great absolutely but as mentioned, it doesn't have the same sense of finality that Falling Down does.
Shinichi Itakura, the composer for this song, to this day responds to comments on covers of Falling Down. The covers by gametal and toxicxeternity both have huge comment threads of people thanking him and him responding.
I never believed Zero would die as a kid, I thought the internet was just being dramatic. One day a teenage me finally collected all four GBA games and set out on an adventure, one that left me crushed but happy.
"I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... if an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!"
Weil believed the First Law of Robotics (a robot may not injure a human being, or, by inaction, allow a human to come to harm) was absolute. Zero knew that the Zeroth Law of Robotics (a robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm) overrides it.
For all his bluster, Weil only saw Reploids as tools and barely did he acknowledge their sentience or capacity for growth. It never occurred to him that Zero could grow... and still choose to hold to the Three Laws. (Ironic that he was more machine than man by that point as well: he may as well have been even more of a Maverick than any of his minions by a long shot.)
@@MrCat-zz5eo To quote Zero from this battle. "At this point, all you look like is just another Maverick to me... and I'll destroy you just like any other Maverick."
Zero 4 was the first game I owned and beat in the Zero series and you did an excellent job recapturing the intense emotional roller coaster that is Falling Down.
I was 12 years old when I first finished mmz4. Weil himself became one of my all time favorite villains. A wily that doesn't play atound, a wily who unlike his predecessor is willing to cause the destruction of humanity and reploids. A true maniacal scientist.
To this very day this song sends shivers down my spine and gets me emotional. This game series had a profound impact on me as a person and it's incredibly important to me. You did a fantastic job with this remix, though I could have SWORN you'd done this one already! Always a delight seeing a new post from you!
You never cease to amaze me and the others man... I know another remixer who is just as epic as you, and he is absolutely awesome too! So it ain't just you who I find my favorite for mega man remixes! Either way, this one was just as good as your other one! Hoping you'll do one of my personal favorite boss themes sometime in the future... Power field! (AKA Kraft battle theme) That one is just as epic as this and Cannonball!
I think it is the situational similarity that makes me think of the "Break the world" incident from SEED Destiny everytime I heard this theme. Doesn't help the actual track for those scenes have roughly the same feel to them.
Wily did evil because he wanted to be a hero to humanity. Sigma did evil because he was corrupted by a virus. Lumine did evil because he wanted to advance reploidkind to its ultimate potential. X's clone did evil because it thought it was X, the ultimate hero. Elpizo did evil for the sake of his people, the reploids. Omega did evil because it had no other choice. Weil, though? He's just a spiteful bastard who's rotten to the core. Evil for the sake of evil. The single most vile villain the series has ever seen. So, Zero, for the sake of man, reploid, and everything in between, remind yourself: What are you fighting for?
Nunca me ha importado la justicia, y jamás me he referido a mi mismo como héroe. Siempre he luchado por la gente en la que creo. No dudaré... Si un enemigo aparece frente a mi, lo destruiré. Ciel: Zero! Zero!! Ciel... Cree en mi... Ciel: ZEROOOOOO!!
Adding to that: Zero was partially built based on Wily's wish to make a hero, as per the backstory highlighted in Mega Man 11. If we consider Weil and his atrocities an analogue towards Wily's later years and his wanton evil, then Zero's the last bit of good Wily left in the world undoing everything his creator ever did, finally winning that everlasting peace.
@@samueltaillant8825 How Weil is Model W? How much of his conscious self is left, and not merely his last thoughts etched like a ghostly recording left in each piece?
@@MrCat-zz5eo He's not Model W directly, but it's implied that he embedded Model W with his hate, somehow, which was then exploited by Albert Although, he's not the the biometal himself, but his consciousness has been distilled in it.

what an absolute legend
Honestly, it's an incredible piece for the last battle of the series. Only wish was that the GBA had better sound output for it.
