For anyone unable to see the last slide properly - Draw the leaf showing areas with and without chlorophyll - put in boiling water for 30 seconds - Turn off Bunsen - Boil in ethanol using a water bath - put back in water for 30s - spread out on white tile and lightly drizzle with iodine solution - draw the leaf indicating areas with and without starch (picture and picture helps to see it too, if this is pretty obvious then pretend this comment is non-existent ig :D)
i read this topic 4 times and i would keep forgetting the information but then i had the thought to look up the experiment to see with my own eyes and im glad i thought of that and found ur wonderful video thank u.
Thank you so much for sharing the starch test. In our country, schools do not have any laboratory, and we are studying science subjects like walking in the dark. Your video helps me a lot with my study Mr., Thanks again.
I have tried this experiment multiple times with variegated pothos leaves --many different varieties-- but have yet to be successful. I was hoping to write up a lab for my advanced students to do, but if I can't do it I can't hope that they will be successful.
The dependent variable is the presence or absence of starch. There isn’t an independent variable in this demo, but you could easily construct one by changing a factor, eg. covering a part of the leaf, removing CO2 etc.
0:47 was probably the cleanest match strike I've ever seen
It's a source of considerable pride.
I agree
same here. not bad video but i would have never seen it otherwise.

Anyone else's teacher tell them to watch this during online school/biology??
As I'm Grade11 student, I have to learn about it in my biology textbook and it's really useful and helpful for me.
Thank u so much, teacher!❣️
So glad it helped!

ikr, we need to get paid..
bruh we need to pay for something we dont want

Can you do an experiment on how flowers absorb water
thanks so much this helped me with my test : )
Why is it necessary to get rid of chlorophyll
If we remove chlorophyll why is there still starch present?
Love you Mr Dare😍❤💘
I don't get it if ethanol removes chlorophyll why does the leaf turn blue black
Iodine forms a blue/black complex with starch, which is left in the leaf, not chlorophyll
anyone watching this at 2021in school or home .........
Thank you sir this helped me for my project in bio
Thank you for educating me
#wap
#emo is fun
Whats that white ip that forms on plants by nature from starch
Who else here to study for biology?

My science teacher made me watch this ⊙︿⊙
What I really liked is the bgm in the beginning and the end😂😂
where do i get a Variagated leaf?
From a weed farm
Why was alcohol used to treat the leaf?
This removes the chlorophyll, turning the leaf white so that the a colour change is easier to see during the iodine test.
WOOOOOOOO
Really good video
Thanks Blitzy
thankyouuuuuuuuuu dr.tom!!!!
Well said; it is EVIDENCE and not PROOF that glucose is required to make starch and photosynthesis is needed. Science is empirical.
