I was homeless, did drugs, went into prison, where I got to know God. He changed my life. Now I have a home, a wife and a lovely year old daughter (zoe), and a stream of income that gats me $47,000 weekly. Plus a new identity - a child of God, Hallelujah!!!🇺🇲❣️♥️❤️
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Kate Elizabeth Becherer) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her 😊 from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺
Council did not make a decision on the report. To state that the report “was not fully accepted” by Council, is sloppy reporting. Council has called for further representations - most notably on alternative usage of Wilgenhof. It did so, presumably on legal advice to comply fully with its role as overseer of policy at the University. It is a moot point whether Council has the power to override a decision by the Rectorate on an operational matter.
At one point I zoned out. A few minutes later I realized oh yeah, I was listening to a video. No worries though, the guy was still on the same sentence.
As a lecturer at the university that works across the road from Wilgenhof, I need to say that this guest is not being completely forthcoming. My partner was also in Wilgenhof. And I have many students currently in Wilgenhof. There are nightmarish things happening there. I don’t think the residence should be closed, but this guest is just not telling the whole story. And again: I’m speaking from the perspective of a staff member and with many personal ties to the place (or, like they like to call it “Die Plek”).
Agreed Andre. We are getting a sanitised version of the facts. No place is completely bad, BUT we need to acknowledge when the activities that take place in a residence contravenes all that our Constitution stands for. Personally, I do not think Wilgenhof can be redeemed without there being contrition and a commitment to transparency and change. That I do not see. Based on what is in the public sphere, the idea is not to close the place and leave it empty. I can't see how, with the student housing crisis that exists across SA, that any university management would prevent a building from being used for accommodation.
This Wilgenhof Alumni Association - Managing Committee Member of 6, is clearly vague for a reason. It is to cover the naked truth; for some reason I get the same feeling about the emails we've been receiving from the institution. This Mr Rabie speaks of their "activities LIMITED to organising reunions and raising funding and THAT KIND OF THING". Activities limited to ... that kind of a thing ... the two terms can't be in the same sentence if one is being open and honest. That kind of thing means etcetera and Limited STAYS limited! Qha! Qwaba. This Mr Rabie should not use LIMITED at all in any of his defense, at least that's what this sounds like. The evidence found in those rooms is indicative of that; the activities were NEVER LIMITED, PERIOD! The most recent history tells us Wilgenhof is in fact one of the residences that have toxic practices but let's focus on this one for now: a reference is made to "extensive reliance on so-called expert evidence." If they initially welcomed the decision of having the "rational" highly reputable investigating panel wholeheartedly, (presumably extensively and meticulously vetted by the association before welcoming the motion), how did they get to a conclusion that the evidence isn't expert evidence? When and how does one measure "extensive reliance" on evidence brought by a reliable panel agreed to by all parties involved. I'm sure they must have done their due diligence to ensure the panel will do the right thing. Interestingly, when asked a direct question: WHAT PARTS of the report were substantially flawed? - the response is a rumble of something GENERAL, that the report APPEARS to have accepted blah blah. I mean really now? Can't one be more specific and talk about evidence that was found instead of rumbling about and ironically giving a sensational response? So, this is what was found, this is what is substantially flawed about what was found. Or this that they say they found was never found! So, they lied! Qha! That has nothing to do with sensational media reporting, which is what I'm now convienced he's busy doing.
Even the current House Committee are so above the law that 2 weeks after this story surfaced, they removed all the newly installed shower partitions. Apparently real men in 2024 aren't allowed to shower in private!!
Now, there is Afrikaans that I have not heard for many, many years! I am sure this gentleman is very proud of the Wilgenhof “traditions”. He is right that historical traditional practices at Wilgenhof should be irrelevant to the issues at hand. We have all known “groupies” in our lives. These people act just like the groupies who followed the Beetles or other bands. If Wilgenhoffers still act like groupies, it is time for them to grow up.
Arguing that the timeline of conclusions is flawed is ridiculous. The time is now, and 120 years worth of stupidity is on full display.
The stupidity is perpetuated by those conservative people who miss the old way of doing things at the very least. Clean it up or shut it down.

I have heard a lot of wonderful things about Kate Elizabeth Becherer on the news but didn't believe it until now. I'm definitely trying her out
It is for this gentleman that RUclips has play speed. 1.5.
He looks guilty. He can't adress any of the details . His approach is deny deny deny deny. Babbling for 28 min.
I didn't know about this when I started listening, and I still don't know....

This is an old tradition. Complainers! Build your own universities.
Boul self.
Alec thanks for trying to get something of clarity out of this situation but yoh! This guy might as well have just gone to drink coffee somewhere.
If this guest spoke any slower, he’d be speaking in reverse.
Why do these people build their own universities?

Few comments are constructive.
