We just hired a guy to put in 1250' of 6 strand barb wire fence. Had some brush, mesquite, etc as it is just unimproved cow pasture. We put double H post on all the high and low spots. The double H assemblies are 24' which includes the kickers on each end. Post are 2 7/8" pipe, 8' tall and in the ground 3'. They are 6' apart with the "h" pipes. The kickers on each end are set 6' out also, with a short pipe set in ground for bracing, all in concrete. Each end of the run has a similar set up for the corners. By setting the H's on high and low spots, we were able to pull fence wires with no problem, and no perceived leverage of wire trying to pull the pipe out of the ground. Also pet Tee post on 10' centers and 2 wire stays inbetween each. Run us about $7,000. Your mileage may vary. ;)

I would assume the terrace was put in for crops. If you are doing only hay or pasture I wouldn’t think you needed them anymore, no erosion with established grass.

Yes, when we bought the land it had years old corn residue on it. I worked the terraces for months with an 8' box blade to make them more friendly to a hay rake, but in the end that's a serious amount of dirt to move. Plus you still have to keep it friendly to water run off.
