I really lucked out on animal sightings on this trip.

Enjoying the video. It would take us 10 or 15 trips to that Park to accomplish everything we wanted to do there. It's a remarkable place but boy does it get crowded on weekends

State Parkers , especially in Summer. I definitely overestimated my pace for the Juniper Ridge Trail and didn’t get to do the 5.5 mike loop. Going back for sure.

I have a trip planned at a primitive site in the next month. I want to bring my hammock, but im worried about finding trees to hang from. Are most of the primitive sites good for hammock camping? Cool vid! Thanks for sharing!

Plenty of trees throughout the entire primitive area. It's pretty much a free-for-all unlike a lot of other state parks.

Went camping here in May but we gave up on finding mescal creek! I could not follow where the trail went when we got to the beginning of the bluffs. Hoping to find it next time after watching your video.

You actually cross it on the way into the primitive camping area, but it's a dry creek bed at the Wolf Mountain Trail. When you see the Mescal Creek sign and you're crossing that dry creek bed, hang a 90-degree left and walk about 150 feet and you'll find a spring there feeding into Mescal Creek then ultimately leading to the river.

Jerry Dugan my mistake, I was actually talking about tobacco creek! That’s the one we couldn’t find at all due to the trail being hard to follow. But you’re right, mescal is right before the primitive campsites. That’s where we filtered our water from

is there a way to get down the cliffs to access the river at the primitive campground?

I was at the far end of the campsite which had the cliffs you saw in the video. The opposite end of the campsite where most people stay because it's closer to the parking lot, trash cans, and toilet doesn't have the same high cliffs. You can follow the creek before the entrance to the camp area to the river. There's also a spring in that creek you can filter water just a couple hundred feet downstream.
