Did anyone else, besides the 50+ comments I likely don't see, notice just how beautiful the lovely Jen Hilman is? A dazzling smile, indeed, and the video contained wonderful information. It's appreciated.
At 6:35: I did this area using my hand muscles only to press with my thumbs, as here. By doing this, I managed in a couple of months, to give myself an injury to my left thumb that still flares up, almost 30 years later. The technique as shown is OK for small, delicate people, but, working that way on heavier people with hard musculature caused me to hurt myself. My teachers taught me to hold the thumb firm, and use the arm for the actual working motion. Did I listen?
@@ambersmith5931 i experienced that. 😣 i am 4'11 weigh 95 pounds. And my client i think weighing over 300 lbs. I need to double the bed so he can fit. And i did a deep tissue massage for 3 hours! I wish i could just collapse at that moment 😂
Dogs adorable Videos well youre irrationally small also so that should determine what u do a LITTLE bit im 5’1 120 saying that so ik how it is to be small
You're absolutely correct....I had a supervisor who told every single one of her clients that they needed to drink water to flush lactate (not technically lactic acid once it leaves the liver) out because it makes them stiff (not true, it's the imbalance of potassium and salt on the cellular level which are the catalysts for muscle contraction) Unless you just got done running a marathon or something of that nature, there isn't much lactate to re-metabolize. Fresh blood eliminates stiffness!
Been studying Swedish massage this year, but have forgotten somethings, this is a really good informative video and mix of deep tissue as well, thank you🙏🙏🙏
Another beautiful video, Jen. Great job. I learned a lot watching it, and became relaxed myself. You have a beautiful spirit about you. Will be practicing the forearm, and elbow technique in my own practice more often, now. Thank you!
Jen, Thank you for taking the time to make this video possible; the video answered some the questions my wife and I had to help determine the type of massage we are deciding to get while at sea during our cruise. I believe I will buy a table when we return and look forward to seeing more was to relax my partner.
Hi Jan I am will be beginning massage therapy school soon . I've always been interested in massage therapy for some time but never taken the time to look into it until now. I'm 67 year old is it to late time started a day become a massage therapy school. I love your RUclips video . Your a very good insttuctor. What would you recommend for someone me ages.
I often put these videos on while playing video games and just listen to the talk. I think I have heard every single Jen video several times and I think there should be two playlist. One would be Jen taking this very seriously as if the video might be played for a class. TWO would be Jen finds this all delightful and silly and is feeling goofy and those are my favorite.
This is a wonderful explanation of the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. Thank you so much for this video. I love your technique and guidance. I can't wait to use this on my husband.
Very relaxing, those shoulder areas always give me problems. It's been a few months since I last had a massage, I think I'll have to book an appointment soon. I shall log all you're videos as favourites, you get my thumbs up Jen.
Good presentation, fluid, relaxing strokes. This massage looks like it felt wonderful! (On a side note: Don't know if you've noticed the closed captioning/subtitles but they need a lot of cleanup. Some are quite humorous but I don't think that's the effect you're going for.)
Jen, Thank you. I'm a new LMT and one of the places I work for is a spa where clients ALWAYS want deep tissue and sometimes I feel like I am not giving them what they want since I DO incorporate Swedish massage techniques. This video is Perfect. I do many of the same things you do and it was good to see an expert in the field doing the same things. I also love the way you explain the strokes. Peace, Health, & Happiness.
It was definitely helpful. You're very precise and understanding. I can't wait to use your tips on my partner. He loves when I massage his back and after this video I'm pretty sure he'll be in heaven. Thank you very much!
Jen may i ask a question? All the swedish massage videos on the internet are used to stretch the muscle from shoulders to hip areas but swedish massage is about pushing all the fluids toward under hands lanf nodes and heart (the opposite of the direction i describe). Please make it clear to me. Thanks for the video
Wow, a great explanation on the different types of massage and an added bonus you have a calming voice. How many times have I watched massages, facials and they whisper and it comes out high pitched whining and ruins it. Where are you located, I need a massage.
This was filmed using 4 cameras. The one she's looking towards at the beginning and end is most likely the main or front camera, but the editor chose to use side angles shots instead.
I was taught to do the petrissage on the far side of the back, rather than the rear. I matches the curve of the hand to the curve of the rib-cage. For me at least, it's easier on the hands, especially if the person is large and/or heavy-muscled. Great video.
I have been a massage therapist for over 12 yrs. I feel the need to warn those who are using these videos as a training module. These videos are an example of a bad body mechanic and can potentially cause harm. All the work with the thumbs and positioning of the wrists can lead to carpel tunnel and tendonitis, among other things. I've seen it in way too many therapists, that haven't been properly shown how to use their bodies correctly. I do wish all you well at Psyche Truth and hope none have injuries because of the videos you post.
There is a lot wrong with this video and the supposed info being presented. But I've been an MT for 29 years, and an instructor since 2001..and I have to say there is nothing wrong with using your thumbs. As with any other body part, body mechanics are the thing. Stack your joints and you don't usually end up with carpal tunnel.
Bruce Levine WRONG. Thumb use is perfectly fine. Body Mechanics are the key. Knuckle use is okay too, just not as precise. I don't know where you got your info from, but it's incorrect.
Jen, you are an amazing therapist. I wished you lived in London and not Austin so I could get some help with chronic shoulder pain. I badly pulled my trapezius muscle playing cricket this summer and am having trouble sleeping at night. Could you please recommend what types of stretches I should follow? Thank you.
I'll be traveling soon to Texas and would like to schedule a massage with Jen Hilman, how can i make that happen ? Is there a website or any contact info for her business
That was very informative and instructive. Now I know the differences between the two. Thank you, Jen! It's a pity I don't live anywhere near where you practice.
You possibly have tightness in you pectoal and or abdominal muscles. A lot of time these areas get tight and refer pain to our backs and overstretch the back muscles causing symptoms only in the back. Massaging the back in these circumstances relieves some of the tension for a short time but the symptoms come back until the underlying issues of the front of the body muscles are addressed. When you think about it everything we do as a people is in front of ourselves, those areas need massage too

You can contact Jen through her website to make an appt if you like :)
Not only did I learn some things I would like to try with my girlfriend, I also greatly enjoyed watching this video. Informative and peaceful. Thanks!
This is the best video I have seen with Jen. The lighting, the music and the table really make it work. Well done.
