    At 6:35: I did this area using my hand muscles only to press with my thumbs, as here. By doing this, I managed in a couple of months, to give myself an injury to my left thumb that still flares up, almost 30 years later. The technique as shown is OK for small, delicate people, but, working that way on heavier people with hard musculature caused me to hurt myself. My teachers taught me to hold the thumb firm, and use the arm for the actual working motion. Did I listen?

    You're absolutely correct....I had a supervisor who told every single one of her clients that they needed to drink water to flush lactate (not technically lactic acid once it leaves the liver) out because it makes them stiff (not true, it's the imbalance of potassium and salt on the cellular level which are the catalysts for muscle contraction) Unless you just got done running a marathon or something of that nature, there isn't much lactate to re-metabolize. Fresh blood eliminates stiffness!

    I often put these videos on while playing video games and just listen to the talk. I think I have heard every single Jen video several times and I think there should be two playlist. One would be Jen taking this very seriously as if the video might be played for a class. TWO would be Jen finds this all delightful and silly and is feeling goofy and those are my favorite.

    I have been a massage therapist for over 12 yrs. I feel the need to warn those who are using these videos as a training module. These videos are an example of a bad body mechanic and can potentially cause harm. All the work with the thumbs and positioning of the wrists can lead to carpel tunnel and tendonitis, among other things. I've seen it in way too many therapists, that haven't been properly shown how to use their bodies correctly. I do wish all you well at Psyche Truth and hope none have injuries because of the videos you post.

    • @bodynhand
      @bodynhand 9 лет назад +17

      There is a lot wrong with this video and the supposed info being presented. But I've been an MT for 29 years, and an instructor since 2001..and I have to say there is nothing wrong with using your thumbs. As with any other body part, body mechanics are the thing. Stack your joints and you don't usually end up with carpal tunnel.

    • @brianramirez8014
      @brianramirez8014 8 лет назад

      venusjade That's what I have notice. Also thumbs are a big no no and will cause problems after 2 or even 1 massage session.

    • @brucelevine6517
      @brucelevine6517 7 лет назад

      bodynhand you don't use you thumb as you don't use your knuckles or palms You use your body dynamics and posture which she does (lean don't push

    • @bodynhand
      @bodynhand 7 лет назад +4

      Bruce Levine WRONG. Thumb use is perfectly fine. Body Mechanics are the key. Knuckle use is okay too, just not as precise.
      I don't know where you got your info from, but it's incorrect.

  • @MrsK8ekate
    @MrsK8ekate 12 лет назад

    You possibly have tightness in you pectoal and or abdominal muscles. A lot of time these areas get tight and refer pain to our backs and overstretch the back muscles causing symptoms only in the back. Massaging the back in these circumstances relieves some of the tension for a short time but the symptoms come back until the underlying issues of the front of the body muscles are addressed. When you think about it everything we do as a people is in front of ourselves, those areas need massage too
