  • Finding enough time in the day to do well in medical school is hard enough. Doing that while maintaining relationships and interests outside of medical school can seem impossible.
    But the time management principles I discuss in this video has allowed me to be successful in medical school, maintain this youtube channel, start a podcast and a medical school application course, and most. importantly, spend time with my wife!

    Hi I’m a medical student in Taiwan ~ just stumbled upon your channel and this video is so Brain opening for me! I somehow turned from a morning person to a night owl after 1 year of med school, and found that it was getting harder and harder to study effectively and efficiently! after watching ur video I think the problem is that im just so tired after a long day of lectures that my brain doesn’t want to review stuff anymore and shuts down. I’ll try to adjust my schedule and see how it works. Thank you so much 🎉
    Ps. I started binge watching ur videos and they are all so fricking helpful!! Keep it up ur saving not only patients’ lives but us med students’ lives out here lol

    I was just thinking "I need to learn how to manage my time" for vet school. Few hours later I go on RUclips & see this, exactly what I needed! Didn't think to do my 'have to' tasks first thing in the morning but I'm trying it out tomorrow!! Thanks!

    Such a great idea to utilize a ‘have to’ and ‘want to’ spectrum! I’m only in undergrad but I’m definitely doing this!

      @@EvolvingMedic Oh that's great! Are there any ways you suggest I could save money and not rely on loans?

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 года назад +1

      That’s a great question and definitely a fair concern. Unfortunately it would be difficult having a job in medical school, but there may be opportunities to tutor/TA in courses that can help if you were interested in that. I’d also recommend keeping an eye out for private scholarships. A lot of people/companies are out there that provide scholarships for medical students.
      These things may not completely pay for medical school, but that paired with smart spending will minimize your debt and make it very manageable once you are practicing.
      I hope this helps!

    How were you able to get into a habit of waking up at 5 am?

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 года назад +2

      I think I may naturally be more of a morning person, but I still had to force myself out of bed consistently for 2-3 weeks before I really got adjusted. Doing things like setting your alarm/phone away from your bed to make you get up and resist that snooze urge may help lol. I fortunately had my wife as someone to hold me accountable. But once you kind of force it for a few weeks, you’d be surprised with how your body can adjust!
