  • Christmas Bowl to Gun Tower Lane is a ski run of varying difficulties located at Sun Valley. The trails run from the summit of the Christmas chairlift just below the summit of Bald Mountian down to the bottom of the Seattle Ridge chairlift. The run begins to the skier's left of the summits of the Lookout Express and Christmas chairlifts before quickly turning to the right onto Christmas Bowl, an intermediate trail. Though the trail is rarely groomed, it was groomed for one of the first times of the season on the day I visited. The trail runs straight down the side of the mountain, passing underneath both previously mentioned chairlifts, and features a steep and consistent pitch. The trail eventually hits the Christmas Lane traverse, which can be used to return to the bottom of the Christmas chairlift but I continued down the rest of the bowl before hitting Gun Tower Lane, a beginner trail. The trail gently traverses across the mountain before reaching the bottom of the Seattle Ridge chairlift at an intersection with the Broadway trail.
Sun Valley is a ski resort located in Ketchum, Idaho. The resort is located in Blaine County, about a 15-minute drive north of Hailey, a 1.5-hour drive north of Twin Falls, a 2.5-hour drive east of Boise, a 3-hour drive northwest of Pocatello and west of Idaho Falls, and a 4.5-hour drive northwest of Salt Lake City, Utah. Sun Valley comprises of two separate mountains. Bald Mountain, the larger of the two mountains, is located above the town of Ketchum and is known for its consistently steep and long groomers, including those off of the Challenger chairlift, the largest chairlift in the world by vertical feet. Dollar Mountian, located closer to the Sun Valley Resort, is a small family-oriented hill with a variety of beginner and intermediate terrain for less experienced skiers, as well as the ski area's largest terrain parks. Sun Valley is owned by the Holding Family, which also owns Snowbasin in Utah as well as a collection of hotels. The resort is a partner of the Ikon Pass, with base pass holders receiving five days at the mountain and full pass holders receiving seven days.
