C.W. McCall was William Fries, a commercial artist and musician who worked in advertising. He created C.W. McCall for an Old Home Bread advertising campaign in the early '70s. He wrote the lyrics and sang the song heard in the ad, while Chip Davis, who worked for the same ad firm, wrote the music. (Davis founded the group Mannheim Steamroller in 1974.) The ad was a hit and won a Clio Award, leading to more ads and a series of C.W. McCall singles and albums. "Convoy" was his biggest hit, but he had 5 other singles reach the top twenty or better on the country charts. He died in 2022.

The whole CB Radio thing that this popularised was (to outsiders) hilarious. I used to hitch-hike a lot in the few years after this and lots of truckers were keen to show off their CB gear and 'patter'. Can see it helping to pass long hours behind the wheel.

I can't remember when but my dad (back in the very old days) used to copy all kinds of movies on to VHS tapes and Convoy was one of those movies.
Convoy was (and still is) one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. In my mind back then: ''Fights were cool, trucks were cool, messing around with the cops was cool...¨.
Enough rabble babble from my part.... Rest easy Kris Kristofferson (Rubber Duck). Now you are free to roam wherever you want across the US.
Great movie, great times, legendary people (and trucks)!
a seldom seen movie, but after seeing you terrific combo of clips and music I gotta go check it out again....
You have no idea how happy this makes me! Mercy sakes alive!
Have you ever seen a duck that can't swim quack quack
Thanks Bill and Chip for the childhood memories. A rubber ducker for life!
Brings back great memories of when i still hauled cattle and it wasnt nothin for a bunch of us to get together and head west and be 10 or so runnin nose to tail
Show I ran with for awhile always traveled in convoy.... and I kept them from getting lost on at least 2 occasions.
Americana.
Wasn't some time after this movie that the powers that be made a law no more than 3 or so together. No more convoys.
One night 15-20 years ago I had 3 bull racks pass me so close together you couldn't put a cow sideways between them. Went by me like I was setting still. I was doing 70 mph.
Kris Kristofferson😅. Saw him in concert when he was 80yrs young, played acoustic for 1 1/2 hours while standing with no sip of water. Must have played 30 songs, felt he was singing directly to me, masterful storytelling. Have been to a lot of concerts and his was one of the best. He’s a Rhodes Scholar, the man is smart and he’s darn sexy here.
😻
Another great movie from my childhood
Haa, one from my youth. We all wanted to be truckers after this one. Beautiful film, thanks for sharing 👍
✌, T.
RIP Rubber Duck
Big part of my childhood has just gone

I'll watch any movie with Ali MacGraw in it 😍
In memory of Chelsy's Dad, Tulius who passed this year. Driving his Kenworth in the freeways of heaven! RIP
My fil was a truck driver all his life and at one point he was in a Coma in the hospital but we could see him even in a coma driving his Semi with his body movements. Anna In Ohio

Rest in Peace passed away April 1st 2022 thank you for the great music.
Look at all those cab-overs. You see one now on the road you have seen a rare sight.
I just seen one a few days ago. Took me by surprise. Freightliner 😎
@@kevinkurtz9889 I see one almost every day on my way home from work. Big chrome visor and a very narrow windshield. It looks like its right on top of you even when its 50 yards away. very cool.
We have plenty of them here in Australia. Kenworths are pretty popular, but we have a lot of European ones here now too..Mercedes, DAF's, Scania's are the most common ones. Freightliner CO's are another one as well.
Thank god! I hated driving those bob tailing bouncers!
What is a cab over pls
Ah, I remember when CBs were king in the '70s!
Yes all the trucker movies & trucking tv series of the 70s, there were many, & everybody had cbs, man the good ole days👍✌️

You truckers are the lifeline of this country and you are appeciated
@@Luisburg
This is one of my all time favorite movies and songs.
I still have and use my old CW Macall CB radio. It a 21 channel Midland convoy buddy it was the baddest radio at the time
It been in probably 20 semi trucks
Dnt ever get rid of it… it’s a jewel now… trust me
Rest in peace ! My inspiration ! 🐆❤️
The whole CB Radio thing that this popularised was (to outsiders) hilarious. There was a lad near us who had a radio strapped to his bicycle (motorcycle battery on his rear rack) who took himself very seriously. I used to hitch-hike a lot in the few years after this and lots of truckers were keen to show off their CB gear and 'patter'. Can see it helping to pass long hours behind the wheel.
My favorite movie ever. I watched once with dad when I was home sick as a kid and burt out his vhs copy and many DVD copies since then.
This is the only song that I'm addicted to. It is too good!
RIP C.W. McCall. Over and out
This has a deeper meaning now during these totalitarian days of the 4th Carter Administration.
Just watched the film a few days ago, RIP Kris. 🖤💙🖤💙🖤
Great track started the CB radio craze in the 70s
I was 11, when I went to the movies to see this movie. Watch it 3 times. Love the duck
Brings back so many memories....Love the film, love the music....
