what is your pfp
@@thepurplemudkip9998 shhh
Don't worry about it ;)
spread test is 16% hallow and 73% corrupt. Things are grim indeed...
@@thepurplemudkip9998 idk if youre looking for an exact source, (which i dont have) but all i know is that its some fanart of hollow knight characters. since this dude isnt gonna just give you a straight answer
The reason the jungle takes so long is because the mud first has to be converted to dirt then it can spread
And the fact that it was on the side of the hallow and hallow doesn't take over the mud and convert it into dirt.
No, its because of chlorophyte.
Read the wiki- Chlorophyte ore and bricks stop the spread of corruption, hallow and crimson near them.
@@codinghub3759 Thats not true. Chlorophyte ore can slow it by creating less blocks for the evils to infect, and it can uninfect and convert dirt and grass and turn it into jungle grass, but it will not stop stone from being converted.
@@soupth2975 but there isn't much stone in the jungle anyway
@Soup TH Yes, they will. Spread attempts fail by a certain probability depends on the number of chloriphyte ores around the block.
Quick, Concise, and detailed. Tells you everything the title implies and does it in less than 5 minutes. Keep up the fantastic work, man.

"I guess it just takes really long for the jungle to get corrupt."
Me, a person who's jungle is almost completely corrupt: well I guess I'm just bad.
It takes longer in his world because he likely didn't break any demon altars (spreads a block of corruption or hallow randomly in the caverns layer) and that the hallow doesn't spread into the jungle meaning it could only come from the original corruption biomes to the right.
Half of my jungle is crimson lol
@@ovrsurge4689 Wait... i didn't know about that
Also if you are unlucky the v strip of corruption of hallow may Spawn in the corruption if you are extremely unlucky the corruption would be the one on the corruption if the hallow was the one who spawned there then it's kinda good cause it leaves the jungle alone
skill issue fr
Could we get a vid examining the differences when all demon altars are destroyed on day 1? The random corruption this causes can create notable pockets.
I was going to mention this. My medium size world was around 21% crimson and 6% hallow before I got around to cleaning it up, and I probably only had about 40 or so hours into hard mode at that point. Destroying altars makes a big difference.
@@caveofskarzs1544 it sounds preety minuscule like 1 block, but it acctually can acctually speed up the process 10x! and that's why I don't destroy more than 6 altars.
so THATS where the random patches of corruption came from, but why havent i experienced this in any other worlds
@@skellingtron817 maybe because it’s far away, or you haven’t destroyed that many altars
@@skellingtron817 well, it is completely random if/where they appear, so there may just be less of them or they could appear in spots where they can’t actually spread
My left ocean gets completely corrupted every time I go there, no matter how much I clentaminate it.
It's probably due to corrupted blocks that are just outside the visual world border. Try digging a 4 block wide hole at the edge of the screen. You can use bubble blocks to stop the water from draining into it.
That one block you probably missed happens all the time for me as well
My left is corrupt also it is pitiful I don’t even fight it any ore
Lol so true
@@FweiSilver they now made it so you can clentaminate them
tip: sleeping in a bed while in 24x speed on journey makes in game time go by alot faster
Bed adds 5x
I don't think this spreads corruption faster tho, I think it just fast forwards the time so you don't need to wait 24 minutes every time you want to skip a day for another fishing quest or something
I think the same is with planterra bulbs.
@@hamzaalsafi1430
Omg i wish i had known this
Can i also sleep in the day ?!
abd-animation 22 yeah you can sleep anytime you want, just right click the pillow in your bed (not the other end, that sets your spawn point)
Then the time goes 5x faster, still gotta wait a couple of minutes for the next day tho
This man runs a giant experiment but doesn’t even know the hallow leaves the jungle alone smh
And snow biome (except ice blocks)
@@kevintrang3007 snow cant be infected.
well thats bc snow and the sand variants are reskins of each other, so corrupt snow and sand would look the same so there is only pure snow to prevent that. =3
But there was corruption on the other side of the jungle
@@kevinradtke3767 prehard mode corruption was on the other side.......
Dryad: "The world is... you know what? I quit."
Honestly, this is why I believe the Clentaminator needs a buff
Keep in mind that this is how fast it spreads alone, w no demon altar smashed, which would make things significantly more helpless
I wish there was a Moon Lord drop that’s a Clentaminator that stretches Green Solution across the entire world
late but, if you dig out a separation for the corruption/crimson ahead of time before hardmode and when hardmode hits dig out the same thing for the strips of good and evil that you get after killing the wall you can stop it dead in its tracks, only real problems being the desert for how fast it gets overtaken and the junkgle cuz of its enemies
(also not breaking the altars helps with that, or if oyu play oon calamity and have hardmode overhaul enabled then altars won't spawn the blocks when you break them)
@@somedude4087 you cant dig out seperations consistently when breaking demon altars spawns random pockets of corruption
@@lukaslefevre8007 that would take a lot longer and be a lot uglier than just isolating before hardmode/on start of it and not touching altars, or ignoring all this if you're playing with calamity and the overhaul hardmode progession setting on
Now we have the terraformer lol
“Your jungle?”
“Yes. And it was beautiful.”
Somebody should do completely corrupt and hallow only playthrough, with some jungle so plantera bulbs can spawn.
Has to be both, because you need souls of light and night to make mechanical boss spawners. Otherwise, it should be doable. Would probably be interesting to do myself (but im a console player, so I'd have to do it manually)
Owen Leaman You actually don’t need souls to get mech boss summons. A few mobs can drop summons.
@@owenleaman7306 you don't need the summons they can spawn naturally

Me with only 10 days into Hardmode & smashing like 50 altars: Hey dryad, wassup?
Dryad: YOU HAVE A FULLY CORRUPT WORLD YOU DINGBAT!!!!!
Hey man, great video so far. I've delved into the code of how corruption spreads for modding reasons and at 1:25 where there's a small strip of sand unaffected, it's because the game's growth spreading code which happens once every tick samples a random block from the entire map and if it's a corruption block, it then samples a block adjacent + however many blocks the corruption can spread from. The thing is at the start and end of the map the world is cut off early (I'm guessing so NPC's and things like the angler can spawn off screen without breaking the game) by about 20 blocks or so, so it can never actually spread to these blocks, as the actual block sampling is (x+-20) (y+-20) Hope this made some sense.
As far as I know hallow can’t convert mud to dirt, that’s just a world evil thing
wait so hallow cant corrupt most of the jungle?
@@littlefish4013 Correct! This is why world evil should be treated more urgently than Hallow, jungle devastation cannot be reversed.
@@BabyGhast4 this was 9 months ago but thanks i guess
Interesting experiment. I'd love to see this repeated, but this time with some altars smashed, so we have different spread sources, like in a real playthrough.
Has the desert always been that stretched or am I seeing things.
That is new in 1.4, it used to be closer to a circle
beaverrac Oh I actually didn’t know that, thanks.
@@beaverrac not related to the original post but I just wanted to note something, when you break a lot of alters for ores the corruption will spread significantly faster due to how many places it spawns in, leading the world to be more corrupt and hallowed than after 1000 days in your world in way less time.
@@beaverrac I don't know IF you know this or not, but the reason of why the Corruption/Evil wasn't spreading into the Jungle, was part of the 1.4 Journey's End update, cuz many were filing complaints that, when either Evils either spawned in the Jungle or gotten into the Jungle and over takes it, it preventing Life Fruits from ever spawning at all, also was severally reducing the amount of Plantera's Bulbs from spawning as well to, so yeah it wasn't no glitch nor bug thing at all, it is a part of the game's system now, so the players can be a full MAX HP without having the need to worry of about not being able to be at MAX HP at all, so yeah it is a thing though.
@@DLSMaster not impossible, but yes. Chlorophyte slows spread in a certain area around it

Got a suggestion for you, how fast does all 3 biomes in a single world(Crimson, Corruption,Hallow) Spread from the first day of hardmode? And how would each biome interact with one another? Would they all be in sync? Or would they fight for control?
they would most likely spread in sync though hallow can overtake crimson grass

That small strip of blocks on the edges of the world are interesting; they don’t function like anywhere else on the map. They don’t get updated by anything, things like pots don’t break properly on them, you can’t mine while standing on them, and I’m pretty sure you also can’t pick up items while standing on them. The corruption didn’t spread because those blocks don’t update based on other blocks around them (I don’t even think sand falls)
10k 🥳🥳🥳 you deserve this so much
Does this include demon alters, because those really speed up the process if even a small amount has been broken
I THOUGHT you were at 8K just yesterday, now it shows you have 11K! Great work man!
Just one fact: if you haven't beat plantera yet, the corruption spread extremely fast
starts new world, builds houses to get guide and merchant setup.
goes mining. Nobody moves in.
goes to surface. purple everywhere.
"how long was i down there?"
skeletron prime has spawned
"i only have jester arrows wtf?!?!?!?!"
you made me curious of a world playthrough where the entire world is corrupt from the moment you start (with only one biome as exception) corrupted through tedit
This is some high quality content.
Hallow can't spread to the jungle like Corruption/Crimson can, so walling the jungle off with Hallow is a viable strategy to ensure its safety.
Something I didnt realise until quite recently is that the corruption, crimson and hallow biomes actually spread much faster on the surface than they do underground. You can cleanse the entire surface desert, and it can seemingly come back less than half an hour
Someone mentioned that the Crimson spreads faster than the corruption on the surface and vice versa for the corruption but in the underground but I don't know if this is true
And then there is my Jungle, which almost always gets hit by the giant corruption strip right after WoF
Unless your jungle is on the left it’s gonna get corrupted everytime since corruption spawns on the right side when it’s hard mode everytime
@@oaf6146 Which is wrong, since I had it spawn on the left side just a few days ago and many time in the past as well

And this is part of the reason I can't live without the Fargo mods. Those purity renewal items one of them adds are a lifesaver.
1:32 its the same with trees, if you put them near the border they can grow but to far and they wont
I dont know how did you get those %, but seems like you only counted 'Ebonstone block' and 'pearlstone block' you should also add to this both sand variants and grass. Thats why numbers were so low in Tedit.
i remember this one time where me my brother and my two sisters all played on the same terraria world and i had noticed the hollow had moved very close to us so i had bought alot of purification powder and planned on purging everything. it didnt happen because far too many character corruptions and game crashes happened but it wouldve been interesting
thanks for doing this video iguess idont have to save jungle after all except the surface maybe
When i was a kid i played this game witch i still do i was playing my favorite world but I didn’t know the corruption was a thing and it went to my whole world and i started crying
LMAO

When my friends and I finally returned from Hell after finishing some Walls the entire underground/caverns below our house was corrupted (presumably due to a desert to our right though)
This's my FAVORITE game of all time!
Look how much detail does it have🥺
What a MASTERPIECE
Lots of things run a little bit past the visual border but can't run to the actual world border - 6 blocks from actual world border or so, if I recall the video I watched, was the limit for dropping sand, around 4 being where wired mechanisms stop working, around 10 is where trees stop growing.. I watched the vid I'm referencing a week ago - it was one of the Terraria Myths Busting vids by Wand of Sparking.
This depends greatly on the world, but the manner in which tests were carried out wasn't bad. The dryad is recently considered a little inaccurate, and you did skip time oddly, so there's room to improve for any serious tests.
Fun fact when you have 25 corrup and hallow the dryad will say the world is in balance happend in my playthrough
yea. she wants balance, not killing evil.
Hi there beaverracc you just got new subscriber :)
I hope you grow more and gain alot of subscribers
You're a lucky one! If there's one biome I want to stay intact from crimson/corruption, it's the jungle!
This man is creating new notes every time he speaks
It is weird to hear that the jungle gets corrupted very slowly but when I play it seems to get corrupted 2 times faster than everything else but I guess not
I feel like they might've drastically slowed down the mud to dirt conversion rate in 1.4, therefore the slower jungle corruption speed.
Also, bear in mind that is without any altars broken, and you break at least 3-4 once you enter hardmode. Which means even faster corruption spread. (And if you're extremely lucky, you get a corruption spread straight in the middle of the jungle)
the dungeon be like when the corrupt spread next to it: *Now im gonna stop you there*
I'm extremely surprised I thought it would take significantly less days but then again,I'm on my first terraria world pre hard mode
*me plays terraria for 100 mins exploring*
The dryad: "hey your world is 17% corrupt"
latest version takes less than 25 terraria days to virtually take over the whole world. The Dungeon stops the spread one way, and my 2nd Hellavator at 5 tiles wide stopped my base becoming corrupt. But then I did take on the Wall of Flesh about 6 times, so chances are this super speeded up the process. I've about exterminated it on one side of the map, but pockets keep flaring up for no reason, and I'm now low on Green spray and coin.
As a Calamity player, it spreads absurdly fast pre-plantera so world purity is very hard,
Can you do a video explaining this spread? (I'm new to terraria) because I didn't find any other video explaining it
fun fact: in journey mode you can increase the time even more by sleeping in a bed, and the effect is multiplicative (24 * 5 = 120x normal speed). this makes a single terraria day/night cycle, or what would normally be 24 minutes, pass in just 12 seconds. Meaning you could have gotten toe the point you got to in the video in just 5.8 hours of afk time
FYI, I found out that the time can sped up more if you combined the 24x with the bed’s 5x when sleeping.
Remember when the spit that corruptors shoot used to turn the surface they hit into corruption. God that was annoying
I remember in one of the maps I played in 1.3 with a few other people, I checked the Dryad once and she said our world was over 50% Corrupted
I actually had the Hallow spawn in the corruption recently. Because of the chasms, the surface Hallow might as well not even be there. I feel like the surface Hallow gets smaller in every playthrough.
Just a question when did you hit 10k? Btw congrats on hitting that milestone
Thanks! I hit 10k today.
Hey do crimson spread?
the biggest magic is that corruption/crimson can convert mud block to dirt i didnt know that before, good video
I think the results would have been more accurate if you had broken some altars at the beginning, since they add new spreading points for the hallow/corruption, including in places that could be hard to reach otherwise
The only thing here is the fact that the jungle can defend against corruption (chlorophyte turns dirt to mud which has to be reverted to dirt before becoming corrupt, and the hallow can't actually convert the jungle at all).
If you aren't unlucky enough for your jungle to be consumed by the initial V it is normally very safe, but unfortunately worldgen often isn't that kind.
Next video idea: How to stop the spread of the corruption in the best way
Wow thats so long, I have always felt pressured even though it takes forever
My jungle after I left it close to the corruption: *As the world runs through the ground, oh girl, it's YOUUUUU*
i always make my base hallow because it stops the corruption and its more colourful
For whatever reason, on my old ps4 world, i cleansed corruption like it was disease. We’re talking as soon as i got the clentaminator i could no longer get souls of night. I flat out deleted corruption from my world. I then took my trusty clentaminator, and proceeded to do the same. To. Every. World. I. Had.
In my jungle, it almost all corrupted very quickly and I barely was able to stop it from destroying the jungle
well, this V section was gentle, as the hallowed portion was near the jungle. reverse it then see waht happens.
I wish my jungles took this long to corrupt. It’s gotten so bad that every time I start a new play through I have to check the jungle. Half the time the corruption spawns on top of it and it triggers me.
you can actually stack the speed increase in 1.4 with journey mode 24x multiplier and sleeping in a bed to make afking even faster
love this!
Oh my gosh if I hear the underground corruption theme again
first off for the jungle, the only thing that can be corrupted in it is the grass. Once there's no more ability for the corruption to spread (because it cant spread more than 3 blocks through the ground), it would stop. Chlorophyte also converts corrupt or crimson grass into jungle grass, and brings back the mud.
Man.. I totally forgot about the spread and when I realized it was already too late. RIP my world
So uh my world is 29% corrupted-
Me:gets in hardmode
Corruption:just like that your whole world is corruption
Reaching the upper side of “normal play throughs” I just started playing and idk what I’m going. My world is exactly 222 hours long and my entire surface jungle has been taken over except 1 single tree. My ice biome is destroyed though.
Love your vids
And also you can spray solutions to create biomes for boss fights or mimic farm, so spread danger is overrated
The best way to keep your jungle safe is spray hollow around it. Then it never gets corrupted
The jungle contains chlorophyte ores which keeps the corruption away from the jungle
It doesn't keep it away it just slows it down by converting near-by blocks to mud
Actually, the hallow just doesn’t hurt the jungle at all under any circumstances. Since the corruption couldn’t get past the hallow to reach the jumgle, it was completely protected.
It took so long for his jungle to be touched at all (even though there were different affecting factors,) and of course the corruption ALWAYS spawns right on top of the jungle, destroying it all instantly...
Cononsberg
Remember that the jungle part with the actual worthwhile material extends all the way down to hell plus corruption has to convert the mud to dirt to spread to it first
Also as soon as u defeat a mechanical boss chlorophyte spawns which turns dirt into mud and effectively acts as a defensive barrier
After defeating plantera corruption and hallow spread 50% slower
"Just dig a 5 block wide pit to stop corruption from spreading" is what most people recommend while I just replaced 8 dirt blocks with stone and stopped it from spreading for my pre-hardmode.
After all, a massive pit can wait for when I have copious amounts of dynamite. ;D
Hell - most untouched.
The main reason the jungle never got converted so quick is the hallow luckily generated on the jungle side. The reason you want this is because crimson and corruption convertthe jungle whereas the hallow doesnt.
Me:hmm if the corruption takes over my world does that mean the music is gonna play
Also me: dances furiously while waiting for the whole world to get corrupted
Spreading the hollow in places around ur main pylon biomes help a lot because the npcs wont leave if there is hollow but the leave if there is corription. So in my playthrough i turned my ocean, jungle, spawnpoint, and dessert into hallow. Yes this is not that necessary but i was playing multiplayer and the rate at which we progressed was slow thus risking the pread of corruption.
Enjoy being mauled by unicorns and blasted into oblivion by Gastropods.
I hate both corruption and hallow.
the fact that you didnt even use a bed to sleep in to make it like 15 hours instead of 30 hurts me lol
