    I have 38 piercings. 14 in each ear, daith included, 2 in each eyebrow, one in my tongue, 3 in my lip, one in each nipple. Everyone heals differently. You cannot go by what others say. All of mine healed at different times. Clean them when taking a bath and or shower. I use wound cleaner, soap and water. I've only turned my piercings while wet. never turn a new piercing while it's dry. Again. Healing time is different for everyone. Just keep an eye on it and clean it daily or twice a day if you have a dirty job. 🤘

    Hey Leah, back again because piercings are addictive. I have daith and conch done recently :-). I think you and I are almost the exact same when it comes to lobe and upper lobe. my 3rds finally calmed the F down with being sensitive. If anyone is here wondering why theirs is taking eons to heal, I was told, and maybe Leah too, that there could be thin layer of cartilage where the 3rd or 4th area is. It also has less blood flow, so it will naturally take a bit longer to heal. Everyone is different too.

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  5 лет назад +1

      wauu pewwe No, it means it was pierced in the wrong spot. It needs to go through the “sweet spot” (a thin piece of skin between your nose cartilage and the outer part of your nose). If done that way, it will heal within 6 to 8 weeks (it’s not fully healed then, but enough to flip and change the jewelry without pain or problems). If they pierce it wrong (through the cartilage) then it hurts like a b*tch and takes 6 to 8 months to heal.

    My septum felt healed after a month. No discharge, no crusties, no tenderness and the piercing arleady loosened up quite nicely. Like it had always been there. I don't advice it but that's also when I could change the jewelry without a problem, and it didn't cause a problem, but I was definitely taking a risk. I was told it should take about two months minimum, that's probably with a small margin included. Yours took 7 months and you're advising people on how to heal their piecings fast? If you have so much trouble healing your piercings how can people even take you seriously?
    Got an eskimo less than a week ago, there was no inflammation. By now it already loosened up, tenderness is gone, discharge/crusties is almost gone.
    My advice is to leave the piercing alone for at least the first couple of months besides cleaning it with a saline solution twice a day and live a healthy lifestyle. There's no more you can do. Listen to your body and ignore the superstitions, because there are alot of them in the piercing community. From neilmed and jojoba oil to tea tree and other overpriced products shops will try to sell you. Your body heals as fast as it heals, the only way to heal faster is by being healthier; by staying calm, getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food and exercising.
    I don't know why I heal so fast, could be genetics, but I believe it's because I fast regularly. But that could be a superstition. It seems to help regulate my immune response. It actually cured my hayfever.
    Also not advicable, but I could stretch my ear up to 00g in 3 and half months, no problem.

    I don’t know about any other kind of piercing but I know for a fresh nostril piercing you’re supposed to twist it and move it around a bit when cleaning it so 1. It cleans it better and is therefore less likely to get infected and 2. It might take a little longer for it to heal, but in the end it will be easier to change jewelry so it’s worth it.

  • @FYoOp1nion

    I agree with the guy that said everybody is different. My septum piercing was the easiest and fastest healing piercing - 1.5 - 2 months. I only use unscented antibacterial soap and water. Sea salt has a negative effect on all of my piercings... 🤦🏿‍♀️ It makes the healing process longer and more painful for me. Now, I only use unscented antibacterial soap and water . Ice helped with infection and swelling.

      Yes depending on where it is try not to touch it unless cleaning it for 2 -4 weeks. I recommend to help swelling and bacteria to use a warm compress and lightly hold it to the area to draw out any possible bacteria and to help with swelling. It’s so hard to not sleep on it I know! One feels like it could be healed completely, the other one is still slightly sensitive to touch, but its also the one that hurt a little more when it was pierced for some reason. Keloids and piercing bumps are totally different things. If your bump went away on its own, it was NOT a keloid. Keloids can not be "drained" because it is just scar tissue and must be removed by a doctor.

    I got ear lobe piercing about 10 months ago. After 6 month of having the piercing I was upset cause it never healed. I would do a sea salt soak but throughout the day I would always find a lot of dry blood around both piercing. The person who pierced my ear tried to change the earring to see if that helped but after months I noticed the same thing happening. Ohh and by the way I did them with the needle not the gun. But I decided to take them off because their was no sign of healing it would just get worse. My brother got his ear piercing and his healed good and all he said he did was run it under the water while taking a shower and move it up and down. I decided to get my ear pierced again 3 days ago and the the same thing as my brother and today I’m noticing a lot of dry blood around it again. I hope the same thing doesn’t happen again. Any recommendations of what I should do?

    • @artisticaquarius_
      @artisticaquarius_ 2 года назад +2

      I suggest that if your piercing is infected or not healing that you shouldn't take it out because the hole is what drains the infection. I suggest that before you touch it you wash your hands and then use sea salt or saline solution and warm water to clean it. Also you should twist it around but not too frequently because it can mess will the healing process if you touch it too much

    I got my septum piercing under a month ago, and I can't feel a sniff of pain anymore. I change, twist and flip it all the time. I started doing that by the first week, at least the flipping. I almost feel like doing it more prevented the pain. By now, all the pain is gone and as I said it has been under a month of healing. I do think it's always best to be on the safe side, but don't overreact! It probably won't take six whole months to heal. Just try things out for yourself. Don't listen to my or her tips. Every body works differently. You'll understand for yourself when you have the possibility to change and flip it:) Good luck with your piercings, everybody!

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  5 лет назад +2

      You are right, everyone heals differently but just because you are able to move and flip your piercings does not mean from a bodily perspective that it is healed even if there is no pain. For example, I have some piercings that feel absolutely fine in the first week but they are by no means healed. Also septum piercings range from person to person. Not everyone has a lot of flesh below the cartilage (the “sweet spot”) meaning that it might have to go through some cartilage which equals more piercing healing time. Lucky for some people the positioning for the septum piercing allows little pain and less healing difficulties :)

    the main key is to no push the pircing thru, if u take it out to clean in, make sure u do it really slow and wiggle it thrue, if u dont your pircing end" the scru" part will iritate the wound/scar, like me I use pyrispet/antiseptic salve, too get the pircing thrue without irritating the open scar/wound, u will soon see that it will grow/heal much faster, alot of ppl just clean and then push the pircing thrue, and then its like restart, some get big bumps, some get all this kind of "non infected" things, and dont know why, this is bcuyz u push the pircing thrue too fast/rough/ slow and steady :) hope u find thius helpful, sorry for dysleksia and bag english

    For the people who get irritation when they switch out their jewellry. Here's how I fixed that for me (it worked for me so I'll share it just in case). First, you want to find an earring material that your piercing likes, for everyone I knew, it was either gold or silver. Then you keep that in, until all the irritation goes away. The next time you wear non-gold or non-silver jewellry, try not to keep it in for more than a day

    I have a cartilage piercing that I really love, but I'm at my wits end with it. I've had it for about 15 months, still not healed. I work in infection control so I babied the crap out of it. I agree with you on not touching it. But I also developed a little keyloid type thing right next to the piercing. Obviously I could never come back at you for your advice nor would I. But do you have any ? Above advice you gave sounds logical.

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  6 лет назад +2

      Honestly, sometimes cartilage piercings take a long time to heal. I had a few that even after a year they were sensitive but eventually they were okay. As for the keloid, is it hard to the touch or soft? In addition to the warm compress you might want to put some diluted tea tree oil on it. Also, have you considered the possibility of the jewelry itself being too tight or an allergic reaction?

So now I only clean them once a day and they look/ feel so much better and look less irritated! Twice a day can be too much for sensitive skin, and if I wouldn't have been so scared to stop washing them, they probably would've healed by now🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @LeahBlue

      Hello! At first it was a huge struggle! But now that they’re healed it’s not so bad. It’s a little strange at first because the headphone pushes against the daith piercing (which is why you should wait a few months because it could cause irritation to a new piercing) but you get used to it. The tragus is perfectly fine with ear buds it’s the daith that gets in the way a little bit. Hope this helps!

      For me, I don't think it hurts the healing process at all, just make sure to shower and clean the ear as much as possible as you normally would if you didn't workout. Then you can do your salt soak, or spray saline or just leave it alone. I do hot yoga and I feel like the heat even helps a little, as if you took a hot shower and the bumps are not as irritated if you know what I mean:)

My piercer told me that as long as I don’t mess with it other then when I’m cleaning it and if I take care of it then it should heal in 30 days. But when I got home I found some stuff saying it can take up to a few months so I was wondering if you think I should just do the time given by my piercer? I ask cause normally people get it pierced with a stud and since a hoop puts less pressure on the area if that’s the reason it’s only a month

      Everyone’s body heals differently :) honestly when I made this video I was still pretty new to RUclips and didn’t do a great job explaining what I meant by my septum took so long to heal. I would say within the first month it was alright but, it was not fully healed meaning it was tender if I banged it and it would have crusties that would make it hurt if I accidentally moved the piercing before cleaning it. Those things didn’t go away until about 6-7 months which is pretty typical. Glad to hear yours went so well!

    I have 7 piercings, 3 on each ear and a septum. I got my first lobe piercings at claire’s when i was like 5, no problems at all and i took them out for 5 years taking earnings in and out to make sure it wouldn’t close. I got my next 2 on each side when i turned 14 at piercing pagoda with a piercing gun, i tried to convince my mom to take me to a tattoo shop because i researched piercing guns and how bad they are for you but she refused. i got them pierced no problems whatsoever when i went to the hospital 2 weeks later and had to take them out for 3 days which make the 2 piercings on each ear close, but before then i was cleaning my ears 2 times a day with rubbing alcohol. so when i got back home i tried to repierce them myself and i was only able to get one through, so i went back to piercing pagoda and they repierced them for free and i didnt clean them once because i was lazy, now its 2 months later and my ears are not sore at all and they weren’t sore then i first got them pierced then repierced. I did my septum myself less than a week ago with an earring, like a piercing earring and theirs no problems at all flipping it up and down, its a tiny bit sore but its not bad at all. i did my septum myself in late october and took it out because my parents found out, then i did it again when the first hole healed and took it out because i didnt like the placement then i did a nostril one and took it our cuz my parents would obviously see it so idk why i did it in the first place lol and now i did it again and it actually hurt this time because there was quite a bit of scar tissue to poke through and i didnt use a hollow needle, i used a piercing earring lololol. i did everything wrong for all of my piercings but they healed perfectly, i shared this because i wanted to say that everyone heals differently and has different levels of pain tolerance.

    I have 2 cartilage, 2 lobes, 1 conch and 1 septum. My septum was pushed up day 1, the piercer at the shop said I would have no issue pushing up and down. And to be honest it didn't hurt that long at all. I had it for 3 years, took it out for 4 days due to surgery and the hole closed (which was freakin CRAZY). It has actually gone through a few stages where it seems fine and then isn’t. I hope that I won’t have any more issues with it and that it will be completely healed by next month. This is the second longest piercing I have had to heal (septum took seven months) but don’t give up! As long as it isn’t infected or rejecting it might just take awhile. Is it normal for there to be any discomfort when you take out your peircings for the first time? Idk if my peircings are healed or not. They are not getting infected or swelling even when i dont wash them but there is a slight discomfort when i try to take them out. The real question is are my peircings healed?

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  6 лет назад +4

      Yes it is normal, it is usually a sign that they are healed enough for you to take out the piercing but not quite 100% healed. When you have no discomfort that is when you know it is finally done healing. For example, I had my nose piercing for about four months and there was no swelling and it was “healed” however, when I tried to take it out it was very uncomfortable. I waited another month or so and tried again and was able to take it out with no discomfort. I like to wait until that point to change my piercings but it doesn’t mean that you can’t take them out as long as you have waited the proper amount of time that you were instructed to wait

      Hello! I had a similar issue two years ago I had gotten into a situation where my cartilage piercings got pulled badly and they became swollen and irritated. I continued my warm sea salt solution twice daily and on top of that I applied a warm compress twice daily for at least five minutes to reduce the swelling. I knew that they were not infected, if they were then I would have gone to my piercer to see what to do. Long story short in my case they went back to normal in about a week. It hurt a lot but try not to touch them any more than just to clean them and keep an eye out for signs of infection. Hope this helps!

    Got my septum done less than 2 weeks ago and I left it down, didn't mess with it and its already no longer sore. I didn't bother with the twice daily soaks, I'd just kinda splash warm water on my face in the shower.

    A friend of mine got a conch piercing. It's quite a tough one to heal but she kept having thses bumps. So when I got my new piercing in a different shop they told her that she was wearing chirurgical steel, but we were told that it was titanium. SO now she got titanium (which is always the best option, never any nickel in it) And her piercing starts to heal nicely..

    I wouldn’t recommend the needle trick because keloid scars are just layers of skin they aren’t a pimple to drain or pop. Warm some water in a shot glass and add sea salt and soak ur nose piecing for 10-15 minutes. It’s inconvenient and awkward but it works. Then to speed the healing u can dab tea tree oil with a qtip and then as the day or days go by and consistently doing this u will see the bump peeling and u can take the layer of skin off with some tweezers. A keloid scar is just layers of skin and I swear by this method it works every time also if you’re constantly getting keloids when you are keeping your piercing clean maybe you need to switch your jewelry that’s what I had to do I changed my jewelry from silver to gold and I haven’t had a problem since. I hope this helps someone

      Hello! I would suggest doing sea salt soaks to try and clear whatever might be upsetting your piercing before removing the piercing and letting them heal. You could always go to a professional piercer and see what they think as well! You could also just be having an allergic reaction to the jewelry or you pulled it on something in your sleep. Good luck!

    Hi leah i got my upper lobe and helix done on the same ear. Didn't do my researched well enough and use a gun for my upper lobe and i think it is infected rn as there is a bump to it and yellow dischage. My cartilage is doing fine tho however for the SSS should i soak it with the same or different solution for both of them? I'm afraid that if i soak them both at the same time the upperlobe will transfer bacteria or nasty stuff to the cartilage. What should i do? 😭

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  6 лет назад +3

      Hello! Keep doing your sea salt soaks! If you are worried about “transferring bacteria” dip a cotton ball in the sea salt solution and hold it to the piercing. Try not to touch it or have hair or makeup around it. Clear or lightly colored fluid is normal sign of discharge but if it is discolored, dark, or foul smelling it may be the signs of an infection. Try doing some warm compresses to draw out bacteria as you cannot take the piercing out if there is still bacteria inside the piercing hole. If you are concerned about it being infected and it doesn’t seem to be getting better I would go to a piercing shop or your doctor to get advice on what to do next. Don’t panic as everyone has had this happen to them before but do keep an eye on it and if it gets worse take action! Good luck ❤️

    • @Lisa-bc3ep
      @Lisa-bc3ep 5 лет назад

      something that I would say as advice is not just doing the sea salt soaks but also using witch hazel taking that and rubbing that on with a cotton ball and then taking your fingers and rubbing your thumb and your index finger together with antibacterial ointment such as Neosporin and rubbing the back and front of where your pierced will help.

    pain when i got it. i’ve had it for about 5 months now and i’ve never had any problems with it. i mess with it 24/7. so everyone is different

    Help please. My 3rd and 4th lobe will just not heal. It's been 8months. :-( I tried everything from not touching it and not sleeping on it and just gentle SSS. And it would just get bumped from my braid hanging down. I also tried spinning it, but I see that also irritates it too, yet it makes the sea salt sol'n easier to get inside. How long did your upper lobes take to heal?

    • @LeahBlue
      @LeahBlue  6 лет назад +1

      Hello! How did you get them pierced? With a gun or needle? I made the mistake of getting my first four done with a piercing gun (I was really young and misinformed) and the third and fourth took FOREVER to heal. I’m talking, it was close to a year later and they would be sore to the touch at times. Continue doing the SSS but I would say you are past the stage of having to rotate it if it is only making it worse, it may just need some time. You are hopefully past the point of infection but do keep an eye on it. I waited them out because they were not infected they just were stubborn healers. Piercings 5, 6, and 7 however I got done and cartilage heals much faster than lobe or upper lobe.

      Hi, I got pierced with Hollow point needle at tattoo and piercing parlor. Very clean and sterile environment and certified piercer. She used the butterfly backing type stainless steel earring to start and I think dirt and skin just get caught in there. I'm happy to say that my 3rd and 4th lobes are nearly healed! I later got titanium put in and it took another gruling 3.5 months for them to clear up. The dry air was terrible for it too. I now use the soap and sea salt Q-tip it and they're doing great. I think I just am a slow healer because they get infected easily and that always prolongs healing time. I also wasn't doing enough in the beginning to clean them so they had trapped skin etc. My helix is also doing well. Thank you for the awesome vid. If anyone has struggling piercing questions (even lobes), please send them to me! I have probably been through it and have hope for them!

    • @darksorceresszyra9467
      @darksorceresszyra9467 6 лет назад

      yes yes, I have Titanium 18g in and they still took 3-4 months to heal after that and using SSS. I found using the Q-tip to wipe around the piercing and mostly no-touch policy and using the soap in the shower before the cleaning really helped clear them up.

    • @darksorceresszyra9467
      @darksorceresszyra9467 6 лет назад

      Girl, I know your pain! 3rd and 4th lobes don't get much blood flow. I also found that after I severely cut back on caffeine and made sure not to bump them or sleep on them and did really good cleaning without overcleaning were the answers to my healing. I also take 1000mg of vitamin C and zinc and did anti-inflammatory stuff. I think all of that combined helped.

      Regular (NOT non-bacterial, little to no scent) soap with water actually is the best way to clean them. No saline, no alcohol, no peroxide. You don't want to kill your body's natural bacteria, because that helps fend off infection.
