I Made A ROOKIE Mistake While MOWING This Overgrown Yard

  • I had one of my customers call me and ask if I could add another property to our weekly lawn care route. We are already servicing one property for him nearby. When I walked around the property, I noticed that the edges were not kept up by the previous lawn care contractor. The homeowner said it was last cut 2 weeks ago. I made a rookie mistake while mowing this overgrown yard. I forgot to inspect by lawn mower blades. One of them was bent and I only noticed when I went home and serviced the machine. We all make mistakes... It's ok though. The yard looks immaculate now :)

Lucy Edwards, blind RUclipsr, recently posted a video complaining of trees/bushes growing in the sidewalk area. Her guide dog has trouble telling that she will walk into those branches. So on behalf of blind people, thank you for removing those low tree branches.

Fill, it WAS nice seeing some real green grass being mowed & still being green after it's mowed! The same thing happened to my "built in" lawn guy & also our neighbor with the bent blades! The guys in Arkansas have been mowing "dust bowls" too & some of the guys in Australia. Aussies have EVIL grasses - Kikuyu & couch! That stuff EATS huge objects! It's unbelievable! God bless you & I'll be waiting for your next video whenever that happens!🙏😊🤗 Wish you were in SE Tennessee. Hubby broke his left ankle on the outside & fractured it on the inside at work on Tues after Labor Day & had to have a pin & plate put in Friday so our yard hasn't been mowed in 3 weekends now! 😒

I like to do my trimming after I mow. That way i can get any places I missed with the mower trimmed. If you do the trimming first and miss a spot usually your mower is too big to get it. But that sidewalk is probably the first time that was EVER done so it was probably better to do that first and then the mower would pick up the scraps after blowing it off.

As a person who’s suffered at least eight diagnosed pneumonias throughout my childhood and younger adult life, and then in 2015 at the ‘young’ age of 52, I was hospitalized three times with “cascades” of blood clots in both lungs, and two weeks later found to have had a massive clot tethered within the right atrium of my heart, I completely understand the need to protect your lungs.
For me, there were none of the usual predispositions that could have caused the clots (such as smoking, vaping, family history, etc). Nonetheless, the clots did massive damage, resulting in permanent partial lung death, pulmonary edema, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, and a host of other lung injuries, including as my door prize: hospital acquired pneumonia, leaving me many times breathless and on a host of medications. Therefore, I am SO pleased you recognize the need to protect your lungs and health. So many men tend to minimize their potential health issues, falsely relying on what I call the “John Wayne Attitude,” where they grin and bear it, not getting the healthcare they need, then being much worse than necessary when they finally do seek medical attention. My father had this attitude and died prematurely at 68 years-old of prostate cancer because he refused to see a doctor for treatment. Anyway, I digress but I hope you and any man reading this understands that the John Wayne approach to healthcare hurts you and everyone you love. Bravo to you for being smart and taking care of your health. What’s that saying? “Life’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.”

What an amazing job you do in transforming properties. I understand that in your jurisdiction it is the resident that is responsible for maintaining the sidewalk but I didn't think that would apply to trees. The individual councils/county's in Australia are responsible for anything outside the property line and residents can be fined for trimming trees outside their property line. The lopping and removal of large trees within the property is illegal without a permit in some councils/county's in Australia. The maintenance of public property is paid for out of residential property tax which we call "rates".
