I stumbled upon Project Gorgon last weekend when I was looking for a new MMORPG, particularly one that could recapture the nostalgic essence of old-school adventures and foster a vibrant and close-knit community. I downloaded the demo and thus far, I've been enamored with the game's sense of exploration, the enchanting music, the tap target combat, and, notably, the rich tapestry of questing and NPC interactions. It's a WoW-worthy experience for me, with its slower pace catering perfectly to my casual gaming preferences. I shared my feelings on Reddit through a post and to my delight, someone directed me to your channel. I'm eager to dive deeper into Project Gorgon and hopeful to cross paths with you and the community. Looking forward to more adventures in the world of Project Gorgon! If I have to offer some criticism, it would be directed towards the graphics and occasionally, the somewhat harsh animations. I understand that Project Gorgon is developed by a small indie company, and these aspects are by no means deal-breakers. Overall awesome tho!
I downloaded the demo, and am actually extremely happy with it. Surprisingly so, after being so disenchanted by mindless feeling mmos. The combat feels fast, the quests actually feel like you're helping someone and not just doing a checklist for a level, and the wide variety of skills is just astonishing. Actually feeling like "oh that guy is a master tracker, this one is a super armor smith, and he's a master of skinning" makes my character feel so much more unique in an MMO compared to normal.
@@MarleMMO I heard something about having access to neighboring zones? That would be new to me but, still not enough. I wanna grind not sort inventory 🥺
Project: Gorgon is an MMORPG that really caught me by surprise. Someone made a post on the /r/MMORPG subreddit raving about the game and as a jaded MMORPG veteran, I honestly didn't think much of it because I thought that the name was stupid. I then read the comments to find a bunch of people bagging on the graphics, but then I also saw replies from the people who had actually played it who were singing it's praises while discussing unique features and gameplay mechanics that I had never seen or even heard of. I decided to give Project: Gorgon a try, not willing to judge a book by its cover, and I am incredibly thankful that I give it an honest try. At first I was little confused and found myself lost in an overwhelming number of unfamiliar mechanics, but once it clicked, the hook had sunk itself in deep. I'm now I'm nearly 1900 hours in and my love for Project: Gorgon hasn't waned. It certainly helps that Project: Gorgon has the most welcoming and friendly community that I have ever been apart of. Thank you for your video
The community is awesome! It's easily one of my favourite MMORPGs, maybe too much.. I quit last year because I got way too addicted to it (played over 500 hours in two months). Maybe I'll try it again in moderation.. because that's going to work out :D
Playing through the demo now and love how the lore is actually practically applied in the game. Movement was really difficult to figure out to start, but once I switched to action mode camera it ironed out some.
In the video they discuss a little bit of why & what they're doing to address the perceived issue. In short, there is in fact a lot of storage, yet it is accessed differently than in other MMOs. You can add inventory slots to gear, use the community chest in Serbule, unlock storage across entire zones through vendor reputation, & more. VIP adds, I think, a few more slots too. Plus, many items can be distilled/used/traded/sold and aren't intended to be kept. Of course, players like me disregard that entirely. xD
I'm someone who actually likes the inventory management and favor system in the game. It's a really cool concept to see in an MMO and it gives a sort of "community pride" sort of feel. This isn't a comment on the games community, though, but the community of NPCs. Very few MMOs actually feel like the NPCs are doing anything other than waiting for players to give out "on rails" quests. Worse, almost no MMOs have players return to NPCs or even remember their names. Sure, you might remember the name of the first NPC that gives you a quest in World of Warcraft, but do you remember the name of the second NPC that gave you a quest? Could you find them without looking it up? Everyone who plays Project Gorgon has storage with Marna in Serbule and knows who she is, knows that we have to "cull the deer population", and knows that she likes animal skins. Why do they know that? Because she was the first NPC they had to increase favor with. Every veteran player knows Joeh loves sausages, etc. PG is a rare gem in that the vast majority of the NPCs you will remember by name because of this. The gameplay changes to equipment is one of those things that upset certain players that really liked their OP builds. I think the devs really don't want to have a game where every DPS plays the same build, every healer plays the same build, every tank plays the same build, etc. There's a reasonable level of understanding a player base needs to have regarding these types of changes. I do like the "Foretold in Prophecy" and "Mastercrafted" system they put in place to give something back to the players who did make certain super rare items. Initially I really didn't like the XP changes they made for leveling secondary skills. They've since done some tweaks as your interview indicates and it has mostly been fixed. It was very problematic when that change originally went into place though, because it actually prevented some skill combos from providing any real benefit at all (like if you had two skills at level 20 and 70, you couldn't feasibly kill mobs at level 40 in a location that most players like going to "grind"). The gear requirements were also weird as many players didn't want to make new sets of gear just to level lower level skills. It's mostly fixed though now. It's still better XP at the content level that you're supposed to be at for the lower skill, but it gives a little bit of leeway for those players that just want to grind in Kur Tower, too.
@@MarleMMO 3 hours later I left the "tutorial island" ****Minor spoilers**** I did learn the remote binding spell but then exploring the spider cave I ended up leaving using a different route :) Now I'm exploring the hills. I just downloaded the demo, and I really love how nostalgic it feels! Reminds me of Anarchy Online and (original) Runescape. More to the point, it reminds me of their freedom. Instead of railroading down a quest path, you just go... I usually play solo, but I'm interested to engage with the community and see what it adds to the game. One thing I'm worried about is how much time I'll need to dedicate to playing often, regularly, and keeping track of a lot of things in order to have fun. As much as we complain about the "quest railroad" of modern games, it does make it easier to just jump in and have something to do.
let's help this devs, they deserve it, I have the game since 2018 and it's been great to see the changes that came up until today (plus is in sale with the Autumn sale on steam)
Just started playing the demo tonight. I'm really digging it so far! The fact that there's a experience debuff for being not being in a party or "feeling lonely/isolated" is awesome. Gives players an incentive to adventure together.
Game is awesome, only thing that sucks is making coin to train basic skills above 50+ starts to get very discouraging, yes the favor system is in place and what not, but at the same time, you dont make enough money just vendoring gear, with the timegates on vendors. i understand why they put it, but the training costs just get too crazy to really try the higher level areas.

@@Tall_Order Sugarbelle, you don't need to remake your gear, you can take it to the golem in Serbule and they will give you the new equivalent gear with "Mastercrafted" on it (meaning it now has 160 Crafting Points). Right now you can only use the extra crafting points on the chest and legs pieces, but it will let you add either 3 more pocket mods (for a total of +6 inventory) or you can add fire/psych dmg or whatever else.
