I live very happily in a Lifestyle village. All the costs are fully explained to you before you sign any document. I can’t speak for other villages, but every cost is explained to the prospective homeowner, you are encouraged take independent advice and there is a cooling off period. I am surprised that anyone would sign a contract without fully understanding the costs or seeking independent advice if they find it too hard to understand. The presenter was correct when he said no two villages are alike so you need to do your due diligence and shop around. I have no regrets with my decision and I am very happy with my choice.
I'm glad that village life is going well. Sometimes its the backend (when you leave) costs that are not covered as well. As you said, understand the contract and avoid surprises. Thanks Rob

I fully intend to stay in my own disabled home which we built for my wife who had MS. She has since passed. I retain everything. No fees to pay and I receive ALL the capital gain.
