This Wretch FITB is legendary - arguably the best ever - and is definitely responsible for many people all around the world coming to respect the MCs this side of the pond. It deserved the wheel up from Charlie 😅😅 The lyricism, flow and the beat marry perfectly in this one and Wretch’s overall performance is epic. One to watch over and over again, believe me 🔥🔥🔥🔥 You stopped the video before Charlie finished speaking but last thing he says is: “I’m a little bit speechless, I can’t lie!” - I felt just like that after hearing this, and think it has had that effect on many people.
This one by Wretch is my favourite FITB, and Ghetts has the best Daily Duppy (his first one!) Wretch’s first Daily Duppy (Redemption) is also major🔥🔥🔥🔥

If it’s American rap I’ve most likely heard of them especially if they are an older act. I know you lot were fans of ours but when I tried to initial make connections in the Uk years ago. It was like a iron curtain up. We don’t rock with Americans or their music and we’re focused on our things over here. After traveling over there it made more sense there’s so much talent why look outwardly. So when I got into this setting wretch and avelino have such American flows I was like rah this isn’t what I was shown before. 😂😂

the 21 Bar, my view of it is, he finishes the bar with "Graduate before u pass Wretch , So if u aint got a 2,1 or u Aint 32( u aint me ) u have to gradfuate bewfore u pass Wretch , so i assume its like a university grade, 2 ; 1 For some time now this has been the most common degree grade awarded in the UK. The majority of employers looking to recruit graduates will be looking for candidates to have this level of degree classification, so thats my understanding of it but who knows, somone tell me diff please!

Avelino was def Wretch's understudy/protégé or whatever you want to call it. Rich Tea is a biscuit or cookie I think you call it. Bars you -may- have missed - 'go from steppin on roaches to stepping by the Beatles', 'we got off on the wrong foot because you half stepped me', 'we've all got bars but nobody here is a brewer, bring a sandwich to the beach in the hopes of finding tuna', 'I can't swim, but I'll be the anchor for the scene'. Also 'Badda' is Jamaican patois for either 'brother' or as you say to mess with someone. Jamaica has a huge influence on the UK scene as it used to be a British colony and when they gained independence Jamaicans were given right to come to the UK, the so called 'Windrush generation' (Windrush was the ship that transported those who chose to come and live here) South Asian is also a big influence as India/Pakistan was another colony and many came to the UK.

Wretch is the OG and Avelino is his protage, hence the title young fire, old flame. In Tottenham you have a lot of good spitters, and you have a big community of black Caribbeans. Wretch 32 is from the time of when many of us in the UK followed American Hip Hop closely and it had a huge impact on us here, resulting in the manifestation of Grime..... and the rest is history as they say....🙏🏾👊🏾💯 Edit: Oh, andthe Police raided Wretch 32's house looking for drugs i believe, but they found nothing. Wretch part 5
Low Key 1&2
Also Mic Righteous, Ocean Wisdom, Kano and a few others are right up there as well.
But the top ones of my list are the god tier ones. Big Narsties ones are definitely worth a listen as well.
Everyone just brings their own ting and there aren't that many bad ones.

a 2:1 is a grade on a Degree, "if you aint got a 2:1" it means you if you aint got a degree" (and specifically a decent level degree)
I've got to respect the effort you go to, to get a sense of the scene.
The only way I feel like having an extended opinion on the music from over there will be acceptable.
I didn't grow up on it but I'm taking the time to know it and learn it as if I did so when I speak it's from a place of learned knowledge not just air cause I have a mic and a camera, that to me will not do.
