I would push back a bit on “if listing takes longer than photographs, you don’t know what you’re doing.” Maybe that’s true in a very high volume model, but I don’t think you can generalize that for all eBay sellers. Someone who is listing a $500 AV receiver or a boat or something high value should probably spend more than 1 minute on their listing. I think it depends on your item and business model.

Echoing what Chris said about sourcing not being a problem. I’m a part time reseller who does most of my photography on Friday nights and sourcing Saturday morning. Just 4 hours in one morning gets me more than enough inventory for the week. I only list 2-3 per day though but I definitely think if I spent another 4 hours during the week sourcing I could double what I pick up. Inventory is not the issue for me; finding the time to process and list it before I buy more the next Saturday is.

Hi Chris! Great Q&A As always! I just wanted to comment on the The Real Real comments/questions. To some degree I do think that the Mannequin photos on white are maybe small part of the problem, but it's not WHAT they are doing, but rather what they are not doing that is the issue. They have bigger issues which I think are exacerbated by the fact that they shoot on a mannequin on a white background-#1 the clothing listings only have 2 or 3 photos, never more, and those photos never include any of the flaws. They only shoot the full front, back and sometimes the side and never any close-ups or details. #2 they do a terrible job of describing flaws (basically they don't). I have purchased from them several times and I have had to return 70-80% of what I have bought because of undisclosed flaws-major ones and then their customer service is mediocre at best. It takes forever to get anything resolved. I invite you try purchasing from them and then you'll probably have a better idea of why their return rate is so high.
My shop went from having huge traffic to nothing at all. When I search for my products I can find them all over the first page. But on incognito mode I can't be found. What's going on?
@Wyatt Earth being useful with your time. Finding effective short cuts and still be productive. For example, if you're given a XX page document to type up and your co worker is given the same document. One of you types 60wpm and the other types 100wpm and both have a typing accuracy of 99%. I'd imagine the faster typer will finish first. Maybe even with an hour or two to spare. Their goals (or in this case assignment) is complete and it's noon time. Their work is done. If you're efficient with your time (which will happen in time with experience) you can be done by noon and weekends off assuming you've met your goals at noon :)
There's also a start time to factor in to this noon time off thing. I think the point is to be done at a normal then usual early work time and ways to make that happen.
@@downtowncaliOriginal Hi , you make some good points, I guess if you get up at 3:00 in the morning and are working by 4:00, you can get 8 hours in by noon if you don’t take any breaks. Not really any different than working 7:00-3:00, just shifting your schedule which means you will get less sleep unless you go to bed a couple hours earlier than the person that starts at 7:00. It doesn’t mean you are faster or better than that person, you just wake up and start earlier. Maybe the Moto should be wake up at 3 am , done by noon, that would make sense.
I love you these video's with Chris and Christine. But, this one has the worst video quality ever. I don't know if anyone let you know. Or else maybe I am going blind. 😁
☆More people can learn to do it! But not everyone is Motivated to do it.☆ I wonder what the % of people that give up and go get an hourly job. 20-40% I bet.

Why does LeBron James waste time making movies when he gets paid so much to play basketball? Why does Jeff Bezos waste time selling server space when he makes billions with Amazon?
@@WellnessWizdom Not hard to be successful on eBay when you've successfully conned 2700 suckers out of millions in cash. You really think he does anything anymore but make videos.and do podcasts?
I still think Live auctions are so dumb and a dumb fad. So you have to waste hours of your time live auctioning. But if you hire someone to live auction your paying a full time salary to someone to sell your goods. It’s dumb. Then if they become popular then they become a brand and you now have to pay crazy money to retain your live auctioneer. Then a larger company might pay more and steal your auctioneer. It’s a fad and it’s going to die out soon. Just doesn’t make sense. you would list auctions and and move on with life. Now you have to build a social media following you have to have a RUclips channel to direct sales to your account now. It’s all extra work for the same buck now and your 12 hour day is now a 18 hour day.
"...if you can't list faster than you photograph - bar none, then you're not an expert in your niche"? Such an ignorant and arrogant statement. As a one man show selling on ebay for 25 years, my typical profit margin is $300-500 per item and I usually spend about two hours photographing, researching, crafting a comprehensive description and listing - and perhaps another 15-20 minutes packing. The Henry Ford philosophy is by no means a "one size fits all " method. Stop misleading people that your way is the only way. It is very specific to mass market, low dollar, wholesale-ish products only. Seems like every other week, you post something that's akin to , "I was all wrong". Certainly there is some value in what you "teach" and I ALWAYS try to keep my finger on the pulse, but you are no prophet and your knowledge is general at best. Been occasionally watching for years. Get over yourself, dude. There are a hundred possible ebay business models/methods and your's is far from unique - you're just willing to put yourself in the public eye...

No one wants to share their sourcing. ??
Chris, I found a rocawear jacket over the weekend and only paid $1.00. I think it’s vintage but im not sure, how do i find out if it is or not?
Ebay.com to start! Then google
@@dailyrefinement yeah, I did all that already but I can’t find it
@@GailG74 Where was it made?
My shop went from having huge traffic to nothing at all. When I search for my products I can find them all over the first page. But on incognito mode I can't be found. What's going on?
You’re probably being hidden, shadow ban
I saw the same thing with mine. I even copied pasted the exact same title on ebay search and the item did not show!😒
@@dailyrefinement what is a shadow ban?
Are you back on ebay?

No sympathy from this Pokemon fan about you having to open all that Pokemon for 8 hours!!!😆😆😊

How much hourly do you pay your staff?
Starts at $30/hr
I’m confused, isn’t done by noon weekends off, “bare minimum” ?
Not if you're efficient in the hours leading up to noon ;)
@@downtowncaliOriginal that doesn’t make sense to me but if it works for you , that’s great 👍
@Wyatt Earth being useful with your time.
Good I could use 10 million
I'm stuck on you saying you left ebay? What happened? Worried 😟
You're kidding right? You must not watch often. He's been gone from eBay for a year.
Why?
Dude, your video is too dang long.
I love you these video's with Chris and Christine. But, this one has the worst video quality ever. I don't know if anyone let you know. Or else maybe I am going blind. 😁

☆More people can learn to do it!
But not everyone is Motivated to do it.☆
I wonder what the % of people that give up and go get an hourly job. 20-40% I bet.
You say you have over 1000 members in your Facebook group. And you charge $35/mo to join. So does that mean you are profting over $35,000/mo for a Facebook group? Why even resell then?
2700+ members. Might want to consider joining so you can learn why. Https://www.patreon.com/theresellerspodcast

If you're spending two hours to photograph and list one item, you're mentally ill.
I am 25 years on eBay over 5000 positive feedbacks well done nice video my advice find a "niche" and love what you do. Good luck to you 87 years old next Tuesday ! still selling "Sealerdave"
