Oz got me into 2000AD, and art. Song of the Surfer got me into writing and taking my art really seriously. I then had to go back to read the earlier Chopper stories and that in turn set me off on an odyssey of buying and collecting every prog from 200 to 1500. I think it's time to dust off the collection, yet again! Thank you for this great video and for reminding me of the joy of 2000AD.
I remember the ending of Song of a Surfer having a lasting affect on me. I showed the story to the girlfriend at the time (now the wife) and even she cried. Brilliant storey, brilliant art work. Brilliant comix. All hail the mighty 2000ad.
Mr2at This was the story that changed my attitude towards comics. I was only about nine or ten when it came out and it blew me away even at that age, and the final image always stayed with me. The Beano and Dandy just weren't right after that.
@@Mr2at i remember the last pic of the comic bloods of his hand as if hes dead ... but i like to imagine he lives ... apparently he does cos hes in later comics
Chopper!... One of the defining moments of my teen years!!! Midnight surfer one the greatest comic stories of all time!!! Didn't realise they carried him on.... Just read song of the surfer... Wow! Blew my mind.... Now to get the rest lol 🤣

Was that the one where he died on the finish line of a surf race (or did he live?)

No cube can hold me.
"Marlon Shakespeare" sounds like the name of a British character from a Japanese anime.
Real reason why they call him Chopper.
I think I must have just missed Chopper in my younger 2000AD reading phase. The editorials were full of him, but I never read any of the strips.
Chopper for Oz!!
I bet this guy could promo anything.
Yeah yeah man!!🤗
