Kevin Feige Breaks Down the MCU’s Phase 4 - Part 1: ‘WandaVision,’ ‘Falcon,’ ‘Loki' & ‘Black Widow’

- In 2018, in the lead-up to the release of ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ Rotten Tomatoes sat down for an extended interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, in which he gave us a complete oral history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first three phases. This week, as Marvel gets ready to release, ‘Black Widow,’ its first film into theaters in more than two years - the last being the Phase Three-capping ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ - Feige again sat down with us for an exclusive extended chat, this time to reflect on the end of the Infinity Saga, the studio’s move into streaming limited series, and to preview some of the most anticipated titles coming up in a jam-packed Phase Four, from Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ to ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ In this first instalment of our interview, Feige reflects on an ‘Endgame’ moment that still gives him (and us) chills, how Marvel Studios chooses which characters get limited series and which get films, the phenomenon of “Agatha All Along,” the choice to explore Sam’s struggles with the idea of being Captain America, and Scarlett Johansson’s journey from ‘Iron Man 2’ to ‘Black Widow.’ Plus, for the first time, Feige weighs in on the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in the MCU following the reveal that Loki is bisexual. Check the Rotten Tomatoes channel next week for Part 2 of Feige’s Phase Four breakdown.

Feige is much more of a creator/artist than most producers are. The vast majority of producers do not have such control over the overarching and specific creative decisions of the universe. It's going to be difficult...no RDJ, no Chris Evans, and no more Scarlett Johansson...Those are characters that are really needed in the MCU. They are just so good. Without their characters in the MCU, I'm really not interested in the MCU as much as I used to be unfortunately
He the new Stan Lee... need just somes cameos.
Not many producers are 1) known by audiences by name, 2) are capable of this level of enthusiasm and energy after so many years. He'd have every right to be complacent, kick his feet up, and count his stacks of money. Instead, we're getting a new evolution and dimension of storytelling in the form of movie-quality tv shows, more representation onscreen, and enough staggered releases to keep us fired up for years. It's absolutely extraordinary.

The way he speaks about marvel you can tell is with such passion. Stan Lee is looking down proudly that his creation is in good hands.
You're right. Kevin does his job like he doesn't want Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and the other creators go mad; he loves his job.
@Lee why not then??
@Lee It strikes me that those people don't want their awareness raised on ANY issue. Most comics have always been political/socially aware in some way. And no one is forced to read comics. If you don't like the content, don't consume it. If the complainers are so pressed, they can create their own work, if they have the necessary talent.

So he let her change d dynamic between them, to one of love and respect.
Now if that not creative feeedom, in don't know what is
@@jeffescanto in Ironman 2 Natasha was undressing and telling Happy to keep his eyes on the road. In this film, she's undressing and we see the bruises on her body. It's the little details that matter.
@Snehil Shrey oh piss off dc fanboi🤡 nobody cares what you think
@Snehil Shrey if you want to change someone's mind, befriend them, don't troll them. If you're just a cynic who enjoys naysaying things that make people happy, I hope you find some positivity.
Kevin Feige is a genius. This man got me hooked on the mcu
Love this so much!!
A wonderful two-part interview with Kevin Feige sharing his love and admiration for all of the MCU/Disney+ stories, as well as all of the cast and crew. Shame Rotten Tomatoes couldn't show either him or us enough respect to organise filming it in a place where the background didn't need to be blurred or words muted.
Feige: being passionate about his work*
my brain: cap, no cap, cap, no cap
Can't believe I had to scroll down this long to find this comment
A bit like the MCU. Cap, no Cap. Cap, no Cap. Cap
I'm so glad Mr. Feige brought attention to the "Bi Loki" controversy, which I think is stupid.
Loki is a mischievous, seductive character who doesn't care for gender, only Glory.
big love! keep em comin Kevin!
So excited for the future of the MCU!!
This is just like my townhall meeting for the project.the difference is that I am paying attention to this
😂😂😂🤣🤣
That's one thing I have to admit about the Marvel Disney+ shows so far... almost every performance has KNOCKED it out of the park. About the only performances I didn't care for in Loki were Bald Hammer Loki, and Kid Loki.
Love the point on Agnes, Walker and Mobius... Such fantastic characters that add some great depth to Marvel Uni. Walker is the most intriguing for me. Excited to see how they push him forward.
this man knows how important it is to do right by fans, I love Kevin Feige, he genuinely looks happy talking about what it means to deliver on expectations
Great interview but y’all could have told him his background blur was set on dreamscape.
a modern media genius
I fear for the moment in which time, health, age, life, etc. forces this man to step down from the reigns of Marvel studios.
The amount of dedication, conviction, passion, enthusiasm, and, I don't care if I sound cheesy or corny, love and care he brings to the MCU is almost palpable. He is the backbone of this enterprise. The one true visionary behind this amazing universe we all love. The fact that he is a fan first before being a producer is what has made this so successful.
This man is why I'll support Marvel Studios in everything they do. He thinks like a fan because he is a fan. We're also the same age so we both had to grow up watching comic book movie adaptations that were mostly cheesy, campy and not well budgeted. Those kind of movies just weren't taken seriously enough in the Hollywood of old. Now they are the biggest draws and I couldn't be happier!
Calling Marvel Comics classic literature is just amazing
I wanna be a fly on the wall in his office or in the Marvel Studios building
I said this a thousand times ! 🙏🔥🔥🔥
It feels like I’m having a conversation with another marvel fan (which he is). Great stuff!
3:58 --- Kevin never lies. Tom and Kevin--- GOATS OF MCU.
Kevin just confirmed mobius survives episode 6 then
And that there are at least two Mobius. He said Mobius and Mobius lol
@To infinity and beyond... he said Mobius M. Mobius, Mobius’ full name…..
There's a season 2 for Loki so why wouldn't Mobius be back
@@thepangwin902 he actually said Mobius M. Mobius which is his full name
