      My absolute favorite game as white, Sicilian-Alapin. They're the only games where the computer consistently rates me 2300+ and I always win em.

    I quite often play 2. Nf3, 3. c3 to get a Ponziani-style set up (delayed Alapin), which I find quite useful and saves knowing how to counter a raft of different variations from Black...

      Which setups is that best against? 2. … d6, 2. … Nc6, or 2. … e6?

      @@andrewucla To be honest, I'd play it against any of those. The one move I don't like to face is if Black plays Nf6, targeting the e4 pawn - it can be difficult to defend with the c3 pawn blocking the knight's natural developing square.

      ​​@@marcoscabezolajr.8408Smith morra is easily avoided by black, and 1. e4 c5 2. b4 cxb4 3. a3 d5 4. exd5 Qxd5 5. Nf3 e6 is an easier position for black to play.

    It's crazy how nobody in the 2000 range can deal with the alapin. I've never had a worse position in the opening, and faced many bad comebacks from high-rated opponents.

    Before implementing your method, my accuracy was good, about 80-90% but the winning rate was bad, only 30%. After implementing your method, winning rate was great, almost 90% but the accuracy drops to only 40-70%. It is weird but I am happy with the result Sir.

      A better way to check your game is to see game rating. I am 648 but all of my game rating is above 1000 (don't play much) . The best i got was 1450. So yeah if it is high means you are going good

    A lot of young tournament players are aware of theses '"traps" and they do know the theory against the alapin variation. And the IQP (frequent situation in the alapin variation) is not an easy sitution for white.

      it makes your whole position passive and it blocks your development. past the 2000 level. its ggs for you

    Your videos are top quality and this one is no exception. However, everybody plays d5 or Nf6 vs the Alapin and you devote too little time to them, it is hard to find someone who plays Nc6. Please take this into consideration. Best regards from here!
