You are the only one who's doing lessons on Nicky Hopkins' unforgettable piano playing! Thank you so much for your time, effort and heartfelt music! Nicky would glad shake your hand if he could! Bravo and keep playing!
So good Maxraw, thank you. Not only helpful for this song, but really improved my general blues piano playing. This is not for beginners, this will take you from advanced beginner to the next level!
Excellent lesson! Much appreciated. To my ear, this sounds exactly like what Nicky Hopkins is playing. This is a nice blueprint for playing blues rock piano. I know it’s not Nicky Hopkins, but if you get a chance, a lesson on You Can’t Always Get What You Want would be awesome. I wonder how Nicky would’ve played that song.
@@maxraw7487 Eventhough it’s Al Kooper, the piano is very much like Nicky Hopkins. The chords are simple, but what makes it cool is the embellishments and rhythm.
Thanks for posting! Another good video tutorial would be to break down some of what is being played live on this song (the video "Sympathy For The Devil - The Rolling Stones - 27th July 2022" would be a good one). These studio/touring pianists always take songs a step further with tasty licks.
A lesson in syncopated left/right hands rhythms would be awesome. There are not many quality videos on the subject. I’m doing my best by slowing this video way down and transcribing the rhythm, but I’m sure I’m not understanding fully what experts take for granted.
Thanks for your feedback. Totally understand you, I also tend to struggle with the rhythm. Find that the key in syncopation is playing around with the octaves in the left hand. This can be tricky but you can always slow down more ;)
A very good tutorial! Well played, but I would buy another keyboard stand, because its wobbly. I guess you got used to it, but It would make me feel bad, playing on a keyborard that is shaking half an inch ;-) The shaking keyboard is half of the show ;-) I think its an X-stand, I had one too, it can easily be folded and stashed. Now its stashed forever and replaced by a steady wooden stand, always in place. Disregarding the distracting wobbly stand all is perfect! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Another great video! Did you ever get a chance to try Winter? I'm struggling to follow this bit ruclips.net/video/Uw2tUxqdRmg/видео.html do you know what this kind of blues progression is called? I'm going to try it at half speed, thanks for posting these they're great.
Thank you Andrew! Had some fun jamming with Winter but currently don't see that as video-worthy :P You don't need to follow that bit. It's just a general explanation of the playing principle. The real stuff begins at 5:10. Also struggled to find how that kind of progression is called 😁
@@maxraw7487 I'm assuming you've already seen this (the left hand bit at 57 seconds!) , thanks again I'm going to see if I can follow along to yours today. ruclips.net/video/5DhdYpUwt2E/видео.html
No other tutorial gets all the jumping, boiling, rocking samba jive of the keyboards on this song. Love it.
Nice attention to detail on the nuances. Finally a good tutorial for Sympathy’s piano on RUclips!
Thanks so much Ben!
Super tutorial - love the attention to the nuances etc -- really great! Thanks
Thanks Philip!

Really appreciate your comment. Thanks so much!
Agree. I've only just rediscovered his playing. This is awesome.
I read a tribute to Nicky Hopkins earlier this morning which prompted me to search for this tutorial. Thank you so much for putting it all together!

Yes, a great song for learning basic blues, boogie-woogie, etc.

@@afai264 Yes! Worked with the isolated tracks. Have fun!
Now full cover lol
🤘
This great, but I'm really struggling to hear what you are saying with the chord names.
Thanks for the feedback!
It would be great if you showed the notes,,,,,,, excellent playing but too confusing for newbies
Thanks for your feedback David :)
This didn't make me laugh, not even a chuckle!
