The 3rd is just an absolute masterpiece. It's very clearly a departure from what Medtner usually composed, and yet it's done so masterfully with his signature touches. Wonder what compelled him to write something so demonic. It sounds like the world is ending in many parts, quite similar to the ending of the 1st movement of the Sonata Romantica.
Never heard no. 3 before, and that one is fucking amazing.
No. 4 is just breathtaking...

There is so much to these pieces. I hear a bit of Chopin and Bach but I also hear modern jazz. What do you hear?
Based Medtner
The last skazka reminds me of a Rach's op. 33, no. 4 a bit.
4番目マジで上手い
No.3 is very Prokofievish.

@@SCRIABINIST sure im saying its not really scriabiny to me. perhaps just another idea. but perhaps we're all a little biased😂
0:13 what is this harmony? Typical for Medtner
second inversion major chords, a min3rd apart! C6/4, Eb6/4, F#6/4, A6/4…
The last performance (no.4) is by Hiroshi Arimori, not Bekhterev.
